    2015 TV Thread

    QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) I've watched way too much Impractical Jokers over the last 5 days. It's been on Tru all weekend, and I love it. Can't believe I had never seen a second of it until last week. I had a one month phase where I must have watched 40-50 episodes of it. I'm over it now. It kind of gets old.
  2. Earlier this season, he didn't throw a slider, and he wasn't anywhere near as good as he was in the middle of the season. Chris Sale needs to throw a slider to be effective. It's obvious.
  3. Out of all series the Sox had on the schedule this season, this is the last one I would expect to be a sweep.
  4. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 10:09 PM) I like that this at least implies that they don't intend to start Saladino over there next year. I'd be fine with Saladino starting at short if they go that route. But at least they intend to have someone who can hit better than a middle infielder. I'm pretty confident it won't be Olt. I think anyone clamoring for Davidson to be given a shot is legally insane. Davidson is a worse version of Olt, and Olt is a bad enough Olt. If they think Zobrist can handle 3rd (he's played there a bit this year, played a fair amount of SS last year) I hope they do what they can to get him. Other than him on the free agent market there's Daniel Murphy, Juan Uribe, and if you get down to David Freese you might as well just keep Saladino there. I can also imagine that Josh Harrison would be gettable in a trade as he's basically a utility guy in Pirates current setup. He was pretty great when given a full time job in 2014. I don't know why, but to me, Zobrist screams ".230 hitter" for the Sox. Just the type of thing where a guy has a good track record but struggles here. Same with Harrison- I wouldn't say 2014 was an anomaly for him, but I don't see him ever having a season as good as that one again. I think his 2015 numbers are more indicative of the player he really is.
  5. Jose Quintana (after yesterday's win): "I'm so excited. … It’s really fun when you get runs." That's sort of backhanded. Makes me think about whether Quintana will be traded in the offseason.
  6. Best-case scenario is that we pull a 2007 September Colorado Rockies. But the chances of that are less than 1%. "This is the streakiest team I've ever been on" -Robertson
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) He seriously said that? Yes, he did.
  8. Jose Quintana: "I'm so excited. … It’s really fun when you get runs." #WhiteSox
  9. First win in 17 starts vs KCR? That's just terrible our offense probably scores him 1 run per game against him. Alexei is on a nice little streak, too- what is he, 8 for his last 11?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) Arrieta on his way to not giving up a run in his start. Would be 6 of his last 7 starts. Can't believe some think Sale has been better this year. Sale has been better this year.
  11. But his violent motion will make it impossible for him to pitch that long without undergoing multiple Tommy Johns!
  12. QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 07:04 PM) Mason Foster gone. That is fairly shocking. I guess with the emergence of Timu and Anderson they would rather see more of those guys. That is very surprising to me,
  13. Bears one of five teams to reportedly have "mild" interest in Washington Redskins' QB Robert Griffin III. edit- per ESPN
  14. Lost yesterday with all of the Tom Brady news: CB Tim Jennings has signed with the Tampa Bay Bears- er, Bucs. They now have Chris Conte, Major Wright, Isaiah Frey, Henry Melton, Tim Jennings, Khaseem Greene, and Lovie Smith.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 08:06 AM) This is starting to become reminiscent of the game of chicken Ozzie and his crew played with Orlando Cabrera after the 2008 season...luckily Alexei was ready to take over and things worked out perfectly in that particular situation. Who did we draft in that spot, though? It doesn't look like we had a supplemental pick in 09. It just says that we drafted Beckham #8.
  16. QUOTE (glangon @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) I agree that it's a no brainer in offering him the Qualifying offer. I just have this bad feeling that he'll accept it which is what very few people want after this year's debacle of a season. Agreed. That would be terrible. Imagine paying him that much to trot out there and put up a 5 ERA.
  17. Our running backs look pretty good. Forte/Rodgers/Carey/Langford is good depth. Cuts will be interesting.
