  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) Kimbrel to Boston? Why I don't know, but they want him. They've been pursuing him.
  2. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) There is some speculation within the industry about a possible BOS/Cubs/Padres three-way blockbuster taking shape. Lots of pieces that fit Onley Probably Kimbrel to Boston, Ross to Cubs, prospects to San Diego?
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 1m1 minute ago New York, USA no surprise, teams have checked back in on samardzija. chisox 3 1/2 out. still not that likely to deal him. Good.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) I'd rather keep Melky in LF and put Upton in RF. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) Only issue I see with this is if Melky doesn't want to / doesn't like RF. Upton would play RF if we get him. If we get Cespedes, Melky would move to RF no problem.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:06 AM) He meant Leury No, he meant Avi
  6. IMO, the Sox have two deals on the table. One for Cespedes, one for Upton. They can accept either one, but they're trying to figure out how playing time would be distributed and how the player can have the biggest impact for us.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:03 AM) Jayson Stark ‏@jaysonst 1m1 minute ago Teams talking to #WhiteSox say they're struggling with how impact of Cespedes or Upton would impact roster. Already overloaded at OF/DH/1B As am I...
  8. Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 2m2 minutes ago The asking price for Chapman just became too exorbitant for #Dbacks Was hoping my DBacks could get it done! They probably wanted Bradley or something way out of question. I was hoping we'd get Chapman, and he and Tomas would rival Abreu and Ramirez as Cuban duos
  9. Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 8m8 minutes ago The #Reds now have stronger offers for Chapman and the #Dbacks now considered a long shot for the closer.
  10. BostonHeraldHS ‏@BostonHeraldHS 14m14 minutes ago According to Jim Bowden, the reason Cespedes didn't go to the Angels was that they refused to give up Middleboro's Sean Newcomb. Jayson Stark ‏@jaysonst 25m25 minutes ago As I tweeted last night, Ben Revere to the #Orioles is still in play. O's have nothing alive on Yoenis Cespedes, Justin Upton or Marlon Byrd
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) If Montas can be the centerpiece of an Upton deal then I'd trade him in a heartbeat. I agree, but I don't know if many others would. Of our top pitching prospects, I think he's the one that is most likely to be a bust.
  12. If they want a SS so much, they can have Jake Peter. That's the best SS I'd offer.
  13. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 2m2 minutes ago Nate Jones w/ another scoreless inning at Triple-A Charlotte. Got 1st K in 5 innings there. Had 1 in 3 IP at Single-A. 0.00 ERA overall.
  14. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) Are the Sox most likely going to plug Anderson in at SS next year? I know that Alexei is likely gone, but is Anderson the guy? I don't think Anderson will be our SS until either halfway through next year or 2017. I think Saladino or Sanchez will cover it next year so Anderson can have more time to develop.
  15. Tim Anderson is too much for a couple months of Upton, but IMO Rondon is not enough. Yeah, I know, best defense ever blah blah, but the guy can't even hit .230 in single A. I wouldn't want that incredible defense in the Majors if it's hitting below the Mendoza line, and neither would the Padres.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) So basically I assume the Padres are insisting on Anderson and we're countering with Cleuluis Rondon. And so we won't be getting Upton. Anderson for two months of Upton would be such a bad trade for us. If that's really what they're asking for, they can go to hell.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:13 AM) The Twins also need to do something...anything. A reliever, bat (they're willing to part with Arcia for a rental), another starter. Ryan hasn't made a huge trade in seemingly a decade. They're pursuing Upton as well.
  18. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:38 AM) It actually was. I was only 6 at the time they won it all (I turned 7 the day after they clinched), so that was definitely an amazing experience. I don't remember everything about that year since I was so young, but I do remember certain portions of it. The first game I went was that year as well. I've been a die hard fan of every Sox team since then. It's too bad we haven't had anything good to root for lately. Hopefully they surprise us and at least make the Wild Card game this year. That would satisfy me. I sure hope so. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) What's a normal age to start following a team as a die-hard? I'm 25 but my first season following the White Sox all the way through was the 2004 team. I guess I was a late bloomer. I don't think there's a "normal" age. It completely varies depending on the person
  19. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:24 AM) I didn't mean it in a bad way. It's a compliment. I thought you were an adult for sure. I'm only 16 anyway lol. I basically assume that everyone on here is an adult. It's nice to know that there are other people my age here. I'm basically 16 too, my birthday's in a couple weeks. But yeah, I post on Soxtalk a lot; I find it cool that there are so many people with unique opinions on our team that I can interact with. Most of my friends are Sox fans, but only a couple are die-hards. Sadly, there aren't many young fans like us anymore. The only drawback to being this young on Soxtalk is not getting the historical references all the time! The first Sox team I followed in a "die-hard" fashion was that lowly 07 team. It was pretty rough. Many people assume my first team was 05- I really wish it could have been that way. If that was your first team, I'm definitely jealous!
  20. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) You're only 15? I thought you were way older than that. Could've PM'd me but yeah
  21. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) After reading the article and about how LaRoche holds the bat/ I see a lot of players gripping the bat that way with their pinky on or below the knob. Abreu is one for sure. Isn't he also having a hand problem or is it a thumb ? Abreu had a finger issue but it's healed.
  22. After a day of some bigger rumors for us, it's been an oddly quiet rumor night.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) Can somebody ask one of the Sox beat writers on Twitter this question or give me the answer? If Sox would have won tonight, they would have swept two straight four-game series. My question is: Would that have been the first time in Sox history the team has won two straight four-game series on the road? Or won two four-game series anywhere consecutively? It's not mathematically easy to win a four-game series. I'm thinking had they won tonight it may have been a first in franchise history. There aren't a lot of four-game series to begin with and I somehow doubt Sox have won two straight four-game series on the road since probably the 50s or 60s or even before that. Can't find the tweet, but I vaguely remember one of the beat writers saying we had done it sometime in the 50s
  24. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) Cubs don't need Middlebrooks But it could've been a "We'll only give you Ross if you take Middlebrooks as well" type of thing. Like Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis.
