QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) I'm at peace with the Sox standing Pat since the rotation is playoff worthy and some bats have come alive. For right now, what might be the best moves the Sox could make are... 1- DFA Boni and recall Micah 2- bat Micah at DH and use LaRoche for pinch hitting/ defensive sub at 1B. 3- play Shuck more in a platoon with Avi. Shuck improves defense and production against RHP. 4- option Leury back to Charlotte and recall Erik Johnson 5- Danks goes to the pen and Erik becomes the 5th starter These move cost the Sox zero money and prospects while improving their contending status, on paper anyway. Leury's in Charlotte, so you'll have to find another way to get Johnson up

QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) MIN > Sox > CLEV > KC > DET in terms of 5-7 year outlook IMO Min has an incredible farm system. We have an extremely strong pitching rotation with some young core hitters. KC is blowing up their farm to win this year/next year, and will likely lose many pieces from their bullpen and Alex Gordon. They also have little in terms of long term pitching value. DET is aging extremely fast, saddled with huge contracts, and little farm talent. Agree with all, however maybe flip us with Cleveland in what I bolded

LaRoche to sit out first two BOS games
Jose Abreu replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 8m8 minutes ago Adam LaRoche didn't want the two days off but agrees he needed it. "I’m healing. My pride has been injured a little bit." #WhiteSox -
Tim Anderson went from #76 to #45 in MLB.com's top 100.

Odd considering they have Storen, who I believe is #4 or 5 in MLB for save leaders. Lots of teams upgrading at positions that don't need upgrades this week.

Blue Jays interested in Quintana or Samardjiza

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) Or maybe you're biased? Why don't you suggest something original instead of telling everyone else they're wrong. Well there's no trade I'd make with Toronto for Q, they simply don't have enough to offer, and they wouldn't offer any of their solid MLB players. There are only a few teams who could offer a reasonable package for Quintana. His value is very close to Sale due to their similar contracts. -
Start of the game may be delayed due to Pedro Martinez # retirement ceremony

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Hector has improved for sure, he still looks like a statistical anomoly, but at the same time, you can't argue the results. I do agree with the premise that Adam Eaton is a better fit for the White Sox. Exactly. The trade wasn't about who the better player is, it's about how good of a fit the players are. Eaton is better for us, Santiago is better for them, and Trumbo... well, yeah, Arizona lost the trade.

Blue Jays interested in Quintana or Samardjiza

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) They were supposed willing to give up a package including Norris, Hoffman and Pompey for Carlos Carrasco but it fell apart. That's no longer possible, but it would be something like Stroman, Pentecost and Pompey for Q. That would be one of the worst trades in Sox history. You guys are criminally undervaluing Quintana. -

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) Sanchez, Norris, Alford, Pentecost, Stroman, Pompey, Reid-Foley, Urena, DJ Davis, Tellez, etc. They have more than enough to get it done. Whether they're willing to give up the pieces is different. Don't undervalue Quintana. His value is closer to Sale's than you'd think. They don't have enough, unless they'd be willing to include MLB players. -
John Danks. I.E, don't want Cargo

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) I don't think the Blue Jays have the ammo for Q after the Tulo deal Even before, they probably didn't. -
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) Have you watched Avi play? Yes I have, and he's better than Middlebrooks.
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) You believe they would take it based on what? Well, Middlebrooks f***ing sucks, so that's probably why
-
Again, if we're doing the "buying and selling" thing, I don't get why we'd help a team that's only 1.5 games ahead of us in the standings.

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:56 AM) For all of this KW bashing and trading away prospects, who has he traded away that amounted to anything of significance? Gio Gonzalez is the only player that comes to my mind. Here's the recent deadline trades abd I don't see anything alarming at all. Maybe I am missing some trades but I don't see the Sox giving anything up of significance over the years. 2008: Griffey for Nick Masset and Danny Richar= nothing trade 2009: Acquired Peavy for Poreda, Rusell, Clayton Richard and Dexter Carter= good trade 2010: Edwin Jackson for Daniel Hudson and David Holmberg= nothing trade 2012: Brett Myers for Matt Heidenreich and Blair Walters Francisco Liriano for Eduardo Escobar and Pedro Hernandez= I do that trade everyday even though Liriano didn't fare all that well in Chicago. 2013: Peavy for Garcia, Montas, Wendelken, and Rondon too early to tell but looks promising. Well, the Edwin Jackson/Daniel Hudson trade was pretty bad..

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:55 AM) With the contracts of LaRoche and Danks, I have a hard time seeing the Sox acquire CarGo and his contract. Unless, of course, one of those contracts is traded to Colorado.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:49 PM) LeTroy Hawkins going to Jays too What is he, like 50?

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 40s40 seconds ago Tulowitzki will receive a $2M assignment bonus for being traded and his contract converts to include full no-trade clause from here on out.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:43 PM) Haha all because the White Sox are blazing up the standings. Nice work fellas! you'd have to think that's one reason for this!
