  1. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 02:33 PM) Since we're throwing bats out there. I've seen the Orioles were thinking of possibly moving Chris Davis. Would you be interested in him? He's a FA after the year. Not sure what it'd take. We get him then trying to move LaRoche (unlikely I know). I'm sure he'd love to come here. I know he doesn't play us again, but he'd have a couple more home runs if he never played us this year
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) Wonder if Tulo moving to the DH spot would help with the health thing. Intersting idea, but who knows if he could be elite offensively away from Coors.
  3. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) What is this 3 year plan that Williams mentioned? That's the first time I heard it mentioned. Was Year 1 an aggressive free agent strike then? Any idea what that would mean for this off-season? It sure seems like then went for it this year, and it hasn't worked out (yet). How does resigning Samardzjia (or finding a replacement of similar quality) factor in? If anything, this would be year 3 of the plan. Year 1 (2013) we flat out sucked, year 2 we got Abreu, Eaton, etc., and year 3 we went for it.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) Regardless, Cleveland's rotation is very good. Yes, it is. That I agree with.
  5. I remember Sanchez had a similar run when he was first optioned to Charlotte in April.
  6. Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 21m21 minutes ago Carlos Sanchez hitting .424 during his nine-game hitting streak
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) Yes, I agree on the close to minors portion, I just don't think they would refuse to inquire on a talent like that because of Tim Anderson. No guarantees either would end up a SS, and it's the easiest position to move elsewhere. I feel like with his defense, Anderson won't be an MLB SS. Maybe 2B.
  8. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Carrasco is 21st in WAR among pitchers this year, ahead of guys like Hamels, Bumgarner, Liriano, Felix, Miller and Kazmir. To me, the phrase "one of baseball's best" means top-ten. That being said, Carrasco doesn't miss by much, but I'm still reluctant to call him that. WAR isn't the only stat I'd use to judge this, though. I'd obviously take Felix, Bumgarner, and Hamels over Carrasco.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) I clearly am the pessimist right now and those were some seriously impressive arms we just beat, including last year's cy young winner. Yes, great arms can have bad days, great rotations can have bad weeks, Kluber has not been anywhere near what he was last year, but the Indians still have one of the top 5 starting rotations in the AL by WAR which is the same thing we were talking about the White Sox leading the league in last week. Beating up on those guys deserves some credit. I agree, but Kluber is the only one of those three who can be considered one of baseball's best.
  10. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) He's a nice bat, but he doesnt have a position. He wont stick behind the plate and I dont think he has the athleticism for the OF. Hard to think the bat is enough to nab a 26 year old LHP that is consistently putting up 3 WAR seasons and has another 3-4 years of control. Schwarber will be a DH eventually IMO. Meaning he'll be traded
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:49 PM) MLB Daily Dish ‏@mlbdailydish Rajai Davis followed every STL person on Twitter. Indicative of a trade, or just trolling? http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/7/27/9049...rdinals-person- If he's trolling, that's pretty funny
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) Plus we beat them by scoring 24 runs in 3 games against 3 of the best pitchers in baseball. Ok, I'm part of the whole optimist/don't sell yet movement, but calling those 3 "3 of the best pitchers in baseball" is just silly.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) The Mets should look at Robertson. They have Familia... I think they're fine.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) Question of the day. Having seen the returns for Kasmir and Cueto, has your opinion of Samardjiza's trade value changed? No, because they're better than Samardzija.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) I was listening to game on radio yesterday, and one thing that excited me was toward the end of the game it seemed like he was throwing his change consistently. Far from the beginning of year where he'd show it 8-10 times per game, there were at bats where he'd throw it 3-4 times. Did that seem to be the case? Was DJ just misidentifying the slider? I believe Rodon threw 21 change-ups.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:55 AM) Him and Simon have been brutal this year. Verlander is a shell of himself, and Sanchez has been pretty bad this year as well. If they trade Price, their rotation will be so bad...
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) I am hoping we trade samardjiza, but I'm honestly very intrigued by this past weekend. This was such a breath of fresh air to see offense over multiple games (against a good rotation). To see power, man. That was great. So, if you guys could get a rental upgrade over one position, what would you choose/is there anyone you have in mind? I have to think RF would be top priority for me, moving laroche to a platoon and avi with him. Fully happy to let the saladino ride continue so we can have a better idea if we happened to stumble into a positive war 3rd baseman. Not sure there are many options for 3rd coming in FA for a while, and i've soured on FA after this year. I think we desperately need a DH who can hit LHP.
  18. At this point, I think no move is the best move. A comp pick for Samardzija could be better than what we'd expect, and this way, we'd let our own players decide if we're going for it or not.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) And just like Buehrle, it's a majorly back loaded contract. Shields only gets $10 mil this season, but that jumps to $21 million per year for 2016-2018. That should limit their trade market unless they throw in major cash. He's also from the SD area, which is a double nut punch if they do trade him. So basically, nobody's gonna want Shields 2016-2018... interesting.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) So are you claiming Rodon is a racist? Can one be racist towards himself?
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) Flowers has certainly played about as badly as humanly possible, at least at the plate, for the past 2 or 3 weeks. Soto has been gradually getting more time and it's fair to keep ramping it up. Is anyone aware of whether there's a health concern keeping him from an everyday role? Ever since his rookie year, I'm pretty sure he just hasn't been able to start daily due to durability issues, just like Quintana always falls after ~150 innings, Rose can't play a full season, etc. P.S.- did you know Tyler Flowers' name is actually Cole? Just found that out.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 12:58 AM) I just have a sinking feeling that Keuchel will get it due to his ERA unless Chris gets beneath 2.50 But Chris has a lower FIP
  23. Many teams looking at Kimbrel
  24. Angels interested in David Murphy.
  25. Royals interested in Martin Prado.
