  1. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 09:32 PM) No Chris Sale. Hopefully because he's too busy preparing for a Cy Young, MVP caliber, sub- 2.00 ERA type season.
  2. I'm just hoping for a Ken Rosenthal tweet "The White Sox have talked with Washington about Strasburg/Zimmerman" but I know it won't/can't happen
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 11:16 PM) Finally watching this episode for CFs, and I didn't know Eaton's WAR was 5.2 last year. That's insane. Didn't he have a 2.7 fWAR? Or am I missing something
  4. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 25m25 minutes ago Sounds like a lot of White Sox position players plan to arrive early to spring camp in Az., some up to two weeks.
  5. I agree, we've made many moves that make us a contender for the AL Central. Spending some more to acquire/sign a Zimmerman, Scherzer, or Shields would move us from division contenders to World Series contenders. We've gone this far, so why not finish it off?
  6. Nats would consider trading Strasburg if they sign Scherzer... that would have to be more expensive than Zimmerman, right?
  7. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 11:11 AM) The Shredder put McCutchen over Trout...? Yes, it did, and I agree with it.
  8. If I had it my way, Eaton would be #6, Alexei would stay at #8, Sale would be #2, and Abreu would be #1. However, I am a little biased.
  9. I watched those episodes. I predict Robertson to be unranked, Melky to be #6, Sale at either #3 or #4 (they might put Kluber ahead of him), and Abreu at #2. This isn't necessarily what I think is right, but I have a feeling this is what The Shredder will say.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) I think of possibly getting Castro makes this line up obviously much more dangerous. Didn't he hit something like .220 last year? That's even worse than Flowers. Yes, obviously batting average isn't everything, but Castro only had one decent hitting season.
  11. Max Scherzer. Realistically, Casey Janssen to be our RH set up man. We can't bank on Petricka or Putnam delivering again.
  12. The backup catcher race will be an interesting one, though. I think Brantly will win it, but Kottaras and Nieto have a shot.
  13. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 12:14 AM) IF Micah wins the 2B job I can definitely see us keeping Tank. A bench of... Sanchez-SS, 2B Bonifacio- CF, 3B, 2B Tank- LF, RF, DH Shuck/Campana- OF Brantley/Kottaras- back-up catcher Pretty good and covers pretty much all of our needs in my opinion. I agree with most of that, but I'd lose Shuck/Campana because we already have the whole OF covered with Viciedo and Bonifacio.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 11:55 AM) Actually 3 Garcias. And two Danks. Jordan Danks was DFAd, and sure, I forgot Onelki.
  15. Matt Eddy ‏@MattEddyBA #WhiteSox sign RH power hitters 3B Andy LaRoche and 1B Chris Jacobs to minors deals, re-sign OF Michael Taylor http://bit.ly/1I8uhBI
  16. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) I like the Bonifacio signing but I do think we need another bench bat of the right-handed variety. I think we may use Dayan Viciedo as a RH DH/1B/occasional outfield spot/bench-bat if he's not traded.
  17. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) Haven't seen it yet and will have to find a copy. Sporting news 2015 baseball yearbook is out and has their predictions for the year. Stuff from Scot gregor. Just got copy of Sporting News 2015 Baseball Yearbook...they pick #WhiteSox over Angels in w-card game. Tigers over Sox in ALDS https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/553233515911733248 Sporting News 2015 Yearbook also picks Cubs to WIN World Series, over Tigers https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/553233836545695744 More Sporting News 2015 Yearbook picks: Sale wins Cy Young, Soler wins ROY, Maddon wins Manager of Year. #WhiteSox #Cubs https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/553236147309395968 As for this, I think it's ridiculous and they need to wait for Scherzer and Shields to sign.
  18. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) Can someone explain to me what's with all the Cubs hype recently? Does adding Lester, Montero and bringing back Hammel, while getting Maddon to coach their team make them THAT much better? They have too many unproven talents for anyone to start hopping on their bandwagon. That's what I thought too, but now I sort of understand it. The Cubs performed very well during the 2nd half of the 2014 season and they have some pretty solid rotation arms, now headlined by Lester. Travis Wood is really the John Danks of their rotation which includes Hammel, Lester, Arrieta, and Hendricks, which is a formidable top 4. The only question mark is the prospects, but I think Kris Bryant is a sure thing, and one to two of the Soler/Baez/Alcantara/Schwarber crowd could be perennial all-stars- and they also have Rizzo in that lineup. I think they'll win 80-87 games next year depending on how the prospects perform, but they have very underrated pitching.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Noah used to be an energy guy. Looks dead. He still is an energy guy- he most definitely was on Monday. This whole team except Gibson, Brooks, and Butler is dead right now.
  20. Adam Eaton ‏@AdamSpankyEaton 3m3 minutes ago Sorry for the late tweet on the trade. Was participating in baseball activities this morning
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) This is a solid signing given that he's used correctly. He should probably only start against left handed pitchers. I don't want to see him as our starting 2B opening day. That'd be completely missing the point. I hope he'll be used as the utilityman that he is, but I have a feeling we'll try to start him at second.
