  1. Stiever is someone I would sell high on. This would be a weird time to trade Dunning though.
  2. Good call on Snell from a timing standpoint. It would be cool for it to be a fusion of the Snell deal and the Sale/Quintana deals, meaning similar price but a team option or two attached at the end.
  3. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27483166/passan-playing-20-questions-2019-20-mlb-hot-stove-season I know he just mentioned them at the end, but I was not expecting him to at all. What would these extensions look like?

  5. Guys he has a .243 BABIP and a 13% K-rate, I see zero reasons to complain
  6. No idea on when (due to AAA playoffs as you mentioned), but I'll guess Frare, Ruiz, Vieira, Fulmer, Banuelos, Collins, Cordell, Mercedes (to DH), Zavala. Castillo would be let go so that Collins and Zavala can get reps behind McCann.
  7. Yeah, that's how I justified the defense spend, plus it was towards the end when I had a lot of money left and the next best defense was like 8th or 9th best. I also think that Pagano's aggressiveness is gonna result in more sacks and about the same number of defensive touchdowns, at the expense of more explosive plays allowed. In other words, I think the Bears D will be #1 again for fantasy purposes by a solid margin.
  8. Ended up paying $19 for Montgomery. In a league full of Bears fans I'm surprised I didn't have to go higher. Also got Trubisky for $5 and the Bears D for $6. That was it for my Bears players though, also got Odell, Mike Evans, Mixon, and Aaron Jones. 10 team league. I'm pleased overall
  9. He showed us that last year from like June onward. His defense has taken a step back lately but I'm confident too that he'll get back to that level.
  10. It's possible, but the fact that this was reported months after Harper signed suggests that there was nothing for Boras to gain in terms of leverage. That's why I believe it.
  11. That's exactly what I mean (bold). But I agree with you, Moncada should not be moved again, and they'll probably sign a couple SPs and a DH.
  12. Not according to Heyman, who gets his info straight from Boras. He reported in June that the Sox made a last minute run at him after missing on Machado. Obviously, they failed, so it doesn't really matter, but the other poster is incorrect in saying that the Sox don't even negotiate with Boras. Don't sign his clients? Sure. But they absolutely negotiate, and it's a weird thing to deny
  13. We're discussing him as a 2B, where he used to play
  14. Great. Doesn't mean the rest of us can't talk about it
  15. This would also allow you to trade Madrigal (or Anderson I guess) for a good SP or RF.
  16. I meant to say OF/DH but I didn't realize he only DH'd 3 times. Thanks for the info
  17. I may sound like a broken record but I'm sure it's not nearly as bad as some others in this thread. The argument is framed as a "people who like data/progress and advanced metrics think Abreu is bad, people who are stuck in the Stone Age think Abreu is good", but this is quite ironic because his exit velo, hard hit rate, xwOBA, etc. are all really good. I think the debate says more about people's ability to take multiple data points and use advanced metrics the way they were intended to be used than anything else.
  18. Great points. It's really too bad that the advanced metrics actually suggest he's a good hitter though.
  19. They're certainly lacking in that regard but saying they're the worst is an overstatement, IMO. I'm sure that their use of analytics has something to do with the offensive emergence of Moncada and Anderson, as well as the turnarounds by Sheets, Stiever, Luis Gonzalez, and others in the minors. It can't all be luck
  20. The Dominican Summer League is over for the White Sox. Benyamin Bailey (OF) had a .477 OBP which was 4th best in league history. Johnabiell Laureano (CF) had a .980 OPS and 6 home runs. Manuel Veloz (18, RHP) had a 0.91 ERA over 39.2 innings and surrendered just 7 walks and 0 home runs. Ronaldo Guzman (16, LHP) struck out 13.2 batters per 9 innings.
