The weak Alexei to St. Louis rumor should be dead now. The Cards and Rockies are discussing a Tulowitzki trade (Cards would be incredible if he stays healthy). On an unrelated note, Gordon Beckham got married yesterday.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 06:26 PM) Wilin Rosario is a popular name these days... Wasn't he on roids?
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 10:28 AM) Not sure they have the bullets to so. I'd certainly get in the discussion for him though(I'm sure a lot here wouldn't). Probably talking Q/Beck/Semien /Ramirez, or something like that. I would however try to get a LH power bat first if I'm putting together a big package. ....Wouldn't hate Ethier on this team for a lesser package. Why not Crawford? Include De Aza to be their 4th outfielder and throw in one good prospect or two decent ones.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 01:27 AM) I want to say it's this upcoming week, but I don't remember. MLB.com has your answer. Thank you. Winner revealed on Wednesday.

When will the winner be revealed?

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 06:09 PM) HUH???? Salty had a 21% success rate at throwing out basestealers. That ranked him 35th out of 40 AL catchers. Now some only caught limited games but to put in perspective, he was less successful than Flowers and Phegley. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) I heard from a credible website, perhaps MLBTR, that he was above average at picking off baserunners. I apologize if I shared false information ^^

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 12:32 PM) What are you basing it on? In 2012 he threw out 18%. He did throw out 31% in 2011 when he had 26 PB. Other than that, he has been below average every year. 23% career vs. 27% league average. I heard from a credible website, perhaps MLBTR, that he was above average at picking off baserunners. I apologize if I shared false information

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 12:14 PM) He threw out 21% of runners, the league average was 26%? Are you looking at career or 2013?

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 11:59 AM) That would have to be the worst defensive team in baseball. You do not believe in strenth up the middle?? Salty and Murphy were two of the worst defensively at their positions. Alexei was also bad but somehow some think he will have a miracle cure and Danks may be okay in center. We can expect Abreu to have a learning curve year and hopefully he can eventually play 1st. The pitchers may go on strike by May 1st w that defense. Salty was well above average at throwing people out stealing. I agree with Murphy.. I do think Alexei will turn it around because of his defense in the past. Abreu is more athletic than we think, according to several scouts. I agree that the defense is bad but I think it's better than last years with De Aza and Beckham gone.

I haven't done one of these for awhile, so my lineup would be: OFFSEASON MOVES Abreu 6 yrs Saltalamacchia 2 yrs Joe Smith 3 yrs Dave Purcey 1 yr De Aza and Kevin Vance for Daniel Murphy and a A bum 1. Alexei Ramirez .285/9/44 [r] 2. Daniel Murphy .294/16/82 (L) 3. Jose Abreu .282/18/70 [r] 4. Adam Dunn .203/38/88 (L) 5. Avisail Garcia .294/16/75 [r] 6. Dayan Viciedo .256/22/60 [r] 7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia .264/14/54 (S) 8. Conneff Gillapenger Platoon .249/15/46 [l/r] 9. Jordan Danks .257/8/46 [l] The lefty/righty combo would drive opponents insane. 1. Sale 2.97 2. Quintana 3.36 3. Santiago (I think he'll be traded but nobody has a remotely close idea of who it would be for) 3.66 4. Danks 3.92 5. Rienzo 4.41 'Pen Jones 3.65 Purcey 3.35 Lindstrom 2.88 Smith 2.94 Reed 3.31 Petricka (half-year) 4.06 Erik Johnson (half-year) 3.89 Donnie Veal 4.66

QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) Not sure if I've already brought up his name yet, but the Mets are said to be "aggressively" shopping Daniel Murphy. I don't know how good he is defensively at 2B but he'd be a pretty good upgrade offensively over Beckham, and he bats left handed. They could really use some OFers, so a deal built around De Aza and Murphy could make some sense(Assuming the Sox want to trade him and can get a new CFer/Lead-off guy in here). Murphy is a career .295/.344/.441 hitter vs RHP(1665 ABs) and he's not that bad vs LHP either, .274/.301/.375 Get it done Hahn. Murphy hits for average, can also get some solid RBIs (78 last year), and can stay healthy.

Cleveland unlikely to sign Joe Smith, Matt Albers. I'd enjoy a Smith signing.

I haven't heard a single rumor about our team since October 28th.

So here it is. I can get the answer but have trouble supporting it. With the bases empty and nobody out, Oswaldo Arcia hits a high, towering pop fly down the left field line off of John Danks. Dayan Viciedo, who terribly misread the ball, runs quickly to the now sinking ball and is about to make a diving catch in fair territory when a Twins fan sitting in the first row throws a shoe at the ball, causing it to change direction on Viciedo. Viciedo somehow stays with it, makes a few adjustment steps, and makes a tumbling over-the-shoulder grab that could be the catch of the year on a usual routine play. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire argues that because of the interference, Arcia should be awarded third base, which he passed right before the ball was caught. White Sox manager Robin Ventura wants Arcia to have second base because the interference occured before Arcia's foot touched third base. Who is right? Support your answer with an official MLB rule.

And of course, the Peavy signing translated to the Abreu signing. -
Sox to Make Hard Push for Granderson

I think that from this point forward that we'll have a similar offseason to last year where we signed Keppinger (this year Salty/AJP/Ruiz) and Lindstrom (this year O'Flaherty/Logan). -
Sox to Make Hard Push for Granderson

Has Granderson accepted the QO yet? Everyone's been saying that it's over for us, but I haven't heard an official word yet. -
I thought Sale had the 2nd best WHIP

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 5, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Iwakuma as the 3rd finalist instead of Felix or Anibal Sanchez? WHAT? But regardless, I'd give Scherzer the CY, and it has nothing to do with wins. Felix with be my #2. I completely forgot about Sanchez. Man, was he ever overshadowed by Scherzer!
-
I think the top 5 will be 5. Felix 4. Sale 3. Iwakuma 2. Darvish 1. Scherzer
-
If there are three finalists, how do people finish in 4th, 5th, etc.? I hope Sale gets 4th over Felix.
-
Darvish, Iwakuma, Scherzer. If Sale didn't have that one September start vs Cleveland... Who wins? I think Scherzer will due to wins (which don't matter).
