What are the chances he signs somewhere by the end of the weekend?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Why do EJ/Rienzo need time? Serious Q. Maybe one of them but both stuck in AAA all year? With Hector gone, you've only got Sale-Quintana-Danks. Add Lannan, then give one of them a chance.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 07:03 PM) Quick comparison from watching tape is he reminds me of Andres Galarraga. Over/under: Abreau has the career of Galarraga? Hopefully over. Galarraga was often injured and bounced around a lot.

John Lannan is a free agent. Kenny's favorite pitcher! Trade Hector for a bat or two, sign Lannan to 1 year deal to give EJ/Rienzo time?

All is quiet... was Gammons the last real tweet?

NBCsports: Sounds like the White Sox will get Jose Abreu
-
Now some Astro source says they're back in it. Edit: It's just some Twitter guy who claims to have "connections." He did predict the Brett Myers to ChiSox trade last year three days beforehand, though.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) Adam Dunn is probably the odd man out in that scenario. But what do we do with him? You don't just bench $56 MM
-
Say we sign Abreu and Konerko requests to return......
-
Has poor to average defense but most expect him to play DH.

Add NBC to the list: http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/...get-jose-abreu/

Which sources have reported this? I only have Heyman, Olney, MLBTR, Rotoworld, and other various MLB websites.
-
Abreu/Avisail as 4-5 would be deadly! Get it done Hahn!!! Hopefully he is slightly better than a Cespedes/Puig combo.
-
Get it done Hahn.

I'd much rather trade Hector because I think this year was a fluke. His control and walks will catch up to him and make his ERA rise. Sale and Q are keepers.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 06:39 PM) And then suck for 5 years Seriously, when you get elite talent, you don't get rid of it unless there is no way you are going to be able to retain it. Chris Sale, after this season, will have been a starter for 2 full seasons and will have 2 top 10 Cy Young finishes. Not even Kershaw can claim that. Sale is a stud and, since Harvey's injury, is probably the most valuable pitcher in the league. I agree. I don't want to trade Sale, but we'd get quite the haul for him if we ever did.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 05:32 PM) Depends what prospects they get back. If the talk for Price is 3 top 100 prospects and a major league piece then there's no reason to think the Scherzer deal won't at least match that....If those guys pan out the Tigers could get even tougher long term. Lets say they get that deal from the dodgers and add Pederson and Seagar to what they already have that would be pretty scary. That would be lethal. Especially considering that Verlander, Sanchez, and Fister is already a good rotation, although obviously Scherzer makes them better. All this talk makes me angry because I'm sure we'd get more for Sale considering his age and contract.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) I know you're kidding but what about Kershaw, Scherzer, Grienke, Ryu.... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/10/tige...his-winter.html QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 10, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) Wow he is 29 and a free agent after 2014. Iwas thinking three more years and that he was around 27. Makes the AL Central a tad easier in 2015 MLBTradeRumors and CBSSports just now speculated that Scherzer could be traded in the offseason. His value will never be higher. Sure, just speculation, but would be great for us!

QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 08:09 PM) Not only is it "harsh", but it's also incorrect....He only gave up 7 runs. I'm sure there's been worse starters in Chicagos history, but ya, he was pretty bad, and there's probably no way he's brought back. Agreed. Also love how that sounds: "he only gave up seven runs!"

Pretty harsh reviews on Axelrod's wikipedia page. We know he won't be back, but sheesh. "In 2013, Axelrod was a starter for the first half of the season. He was decent, but his season spiraled out of control in mid-June. After being moved to the bullpen in order to make room for the sensational Hector Santiago, his ERA increased at a rapid measure, and by mid-September, he was considered by many Chicago fans to be the worst pitcher in White Sox history. After that, Axelrod made a spot-start for the injured Andre Rienzo, only to allow twelve runs in two innings. Axelrod is not expected to be resigned by Chicago in the offseason."

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Oct 3, 2013 -> 06:44 AM) Rasmus has averaged 138 games per year over his career, and that includes many games where LaRussa sat him just because he didn't like him (which has been well documented). He has never had any injury problems except for this year. Have any other arguments against Rasmus that you need disproven? In 2011 he only played in 129 games- 35 of which were with the Blue Jays. He missed 15 Blue Jay games because of injury.
-
Ok fine (about their defense) but keep in mind you're getting Rasmus for 135 games and Markakis for 162 (except one year).
-
Screw WAR, I'll take Markakis over Rasmus any day. Rasmus is too injury-prone and lacks defense. Markakis is solid all around

Attached is a list of the great White Sox moments from this season:
