  1. It was received that way because it was (wrongly) assumed that we would also be the high bidder
  2. How is he gonna be a full time catcher when Tim Anderson already has it locked down?
  3. I was about to complain about whoever reopened this thread of pain but this is actually useful info, thanks. Confirms my suspicions as well. We probably offered him something like 10/280
  4. The Fangraphs update just gave Moncada a huge bump defensively. He is now at a -0.1 defensive rating, way up from ~ -3, and 14th in baseball (among 3B). As a result, he is currently sitting at 1.6 fWAR and is on pace for about 5.8 fWAR. I was against moving him to 3B originally, but I want him to stay there now.
  5. Disappointed but not surprised that that's the only move. I was starting to buy into the idea that Mendick was out today because he too was getting the call.
  6. He was injured (ankle I think), missed a game, came back, realized it wasn't fully healthy, and now is taking a few days off to fully recover
  7. I genuinely don't know if he could put up a .700 OPS in the Southern League this year.
  8. That I agree with. There are just so many qualifiers and things that need to go right, which is why I'm still not a huge fan of them. They certainly are exciting when they work though.
  9. It all depends on exactly how much he "mashes". A 180 wRC+ in AA (his current mark)? Sure, I guess I could see them keeping him there until mid-July. But if he raises that OPS above 1.1 and the wRC+ into the deep 200s? At that point, you're dealing with a guy who you almost have to promote to AAA, at least. The situation isn't even that unlikely, IMO.
  10. If the bolded were the case, then every single MLB team would squeeze bunt nearly every time there's a runner on 3rd. Suicide squeezes are extremely risky.
  11. Wouldn't mind seeing him in MLB soon. He now has 13 total starts in AA with great numbers at age 24, and there's a need at the MLB level. I would like to see him promoted to AAA after this start and, if he does well enough, join the MLB rotation in the second half of the year
  12. Funny because I pronounce rout and route the same way, although I get what you were going for. To answer your question, I believe it's sk-OWg (so like rout in your analogy).
  13. A decision working out doesn't mean it was the most favorable strategy
  14. Agreed. This is probably their only chance to have an extended shot as starters in this organization unless they absolutely dominate AAA. I'd rather see them than someone we already know is a garbage, fringe MLBer
  15. Whenever you want, preferably in another thread so that the rest of us don't have to read it in one designed to talk about next month's draft.
  16. Luis Robert has won the OFFICIAL Uncle Ray's Potato Chips Player of the Month award.
  17. No position player is useful when he's injured as often as Phegley is. I'm all for criticizing the FO but I don't see the need to complain about non-factors like this
  18. Oh man, are we really about to move to Josh Phegley, who averages 40 games played per year over the past 6 years, as the next thing to incessantly complain about? With the way this board acts, you'd have no idea that Anderson and Moncada are OPSing .860+, Giolito is looking like an ace, Eloy is back in the coming days, Robert is doing well in AA, etc.
