  1. What are you going to eat ? Don’t be so sure.
  2. I’m the most optimistic guy and have no reason not to be but ... no way it’s both. For these reasons: Reinsdorf is trying to build value of franchise for his family and investors. Saddling franchise with both does not do that. And Chris Sale is a FA next year.
  3. Not going to be both. It’s one or other. And this is the Machado thread- You figure it out.
  4. Again - I shared very reliable information and it didn’t go according to what I was told. I didn’t post like others until I heard more. And I’m optimistic what I was told a month ago is going to happen finally. So have at it but I’d be optimistic.
  5. I said hours ago it won’t be in Chicago. It won’t. And yes I hear there is smoke. Just haven’t got the final confirmation.
  6. Yes it will be in Arizona “when” it happens.
  7. Most of us who have contacts, try to use our info in a way that won’t compromise who told us. And remember we are fans too! But when things don’t turn out in the way we are told- posters really make it personal. So what’s the point in trying to share what we may know? Bottom line - the organization still thinks they get him. They have worked hard to do it. They aren’t being cheap or lazy but are squaring off against an agent who needs to make a payday for himself and future business. That is all. Have a great night and trust Hahn.
  8. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-free-agency-scott-boras-may-have-a-creative-contract-solution-for-the-bryce-harper-and-manny-machado-markets/amp/ This is a great explanation.
  9. Swell opt definitely at play here. And actually could make Olney et al. and Passan right It’s 7 years at something lower but likely 8 at $240 million and could swell to a longer period as Passan suggests.
  10. Remember there are big egos involved here between Lozano and Boras. I’ve said that before. Who benefits the most from such a low offer? Scott Boras right? He and Lozano had a nasty break up in business and they both are competing for a finite market right now. Pure speculation but sure seems logical.
  11. Looks like it’s been quite a day. I can tell you the $175 million isn’t true. It just isn’t If it was the Sox would be out of the running. And they may have offered it initially but there are discussions like “ if I talked Jerry into offering x for a total of y” would we have a deal? It’s negotiations 101. Hang in there.
  12. This place isn’t being logical. An extra year of Eloy means a hell of a lot more than a couple months. And as far as an offer here’s an example : you can buy a house for 250 K but screw it I want it now and will pay 400 k right now. Deal? Oh if you accept it I can’t furnish it. Come on. As far as how long, they are staying at 7 only until they know 8 gets it done. Keep the faith !
  13. ^^^we have a winner. This is almost ridiculous watching people freak out over tweets. The Sox will not regressive bargin - offer less than they have. That is a recipe for agents shunning them in future. They are working on this as we speak. Quit freaking out.
  14. My sauces confirm that the Angles are the mystery team.
  15. Nightingale is Reinsdorf’s go to guy. In negotiations you want to create urgency and worry that your market maybe evaporating. That tweet accomplished it. Yes Reinsdorf is a good negotiator.
  16. Mr. Reinsdorf is a self made billionaire and arguably the most powerful man in sports. He didn’t get there by accident. He is a shrewd but fair negotiator and admires the same. This isn’t bad development it just shows how big this is.
  17. This is what I mentioned yesterday. Reinsdorf is in charge now. He didn’t like the leaks of the 8 year offer and he let his 2 go to guys Nightingale and Levine handle it. Also explains the lock down of info. Jerry’s got this for better or worse now.
  18. Yes I did. Everyone is radio silent today. Weird. When I went to bed last night everything was going like I was told it would. Even Merkin was speaking in past tense But remember what I said today Reinsdorf is now involved. And I would expect he’s at the Governor’s inauguration which means that any hiccups can’t be dealt with. I’ll keep trying to get information.
  19. Battle of egos that I was referring to yesterday. These guys worked together and can’t stand each other. Also remember that Boras was Manny’s first agent. This efffects their future work. They both want to be the “man” . One other note, if Reinsdorf is now involved and they haven’t finished this yet remember that today is Inauguration Day in Illinois and almost all smart billionaires are there for Pritzker. https://theathletic.com/703532/2018/12/09/rosenthal-agent-wars-between-scott-boras-and-dan-lozano-are-a-huge-part-of-the-harper-machado-pursuits/
  20. It’s one or the other. Manny is who they want. We all would like both but they would be hamstrung with future payroll. And yes remember, Abreu off next year and Sale is a FA. Sale total speculation. Never heard that. All we know is Jerry loves his former players. So they need to get a “whale” and then some short term players until 2021 when rebuild players are all here. Hope I’m not rambling. It’s late. Have faith in Rick. The guy is good.
  21. Ding Ding- we have a winner. Must be listening in to the Sox phones. Gio on a short deal and Pollock on a 3 year deal.
  22. https://amp.mlb.com/302663586-mlb-scouts-honored-at-annual-awards-dinner.amp.html Connect the dots. Reinsdorf was there. Media including Nightingale.
  23. I don’t have anything new. Still a level of confidence. Remember both Boras and Manny’s agent worked together at one time. There are egos at play here and no one wants to blink first.
