White Sox HR totals should get a big boost this year
Whisox05 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (VAfan @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) White play at US Cellular. They should be a HR hitting team to take advantage of that park. KC is a totally different ballpark. A HR heavy team wouldn't work there. The Sox are not going to bash like the teams that hit more than 200 HR every year, but in our ballpark, HRs are important. Yes but they also play away games so they will be playing in parks that aren't that homer friendly. Got to be able to score runs all around -
Navarro looking pretty good. Batting .800

White Sox HR totals should get a big boost this year

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) Just because there were a few teams without power that succeeded recently doesn't mean that we shouldn't be focused on increasing power whenever the opportunity arises. There's a strong correlation between homeruns and runs scored, and homeruns and wins. One of the best ways to score more runs overall is to hit more homeruns. Yes adding powers does go towards adding more runs but power isn't guaranteed there all the time. Need to be able to do other things as well. Better baserunning which definitely needs to improve from last year, working counts, getting guys on and then moving them over or bringing them in. Sox isn't built like a team with major power like the blue jays so they need other means of getting runs in. With a pitching staff they have they need to make it comfortable in games offensively otherwise you are worry all the time if they can score enough which adds alot of pressure. -
White Sox HR totals should get a big boost this year

The homerun totals for the team should be a boost vs last year but shouldn't be the major point for the sox making the playoffs. Pirates, royals and cards made the playoffs while ranking 23, 24, and 25 for homeruns in all of baseball. Issue is the Sox need to be scoring more runs overall. All AL teams that made the playoffs scored over 700 runs. Sox scored 622. Need to score alot more runs -
Another year of losing its lust. I really enjoyed when they put more effort on going through the team in depth. Just alot of interviews of players and coaches mixed with highlights of today's spring training games. They weren't very high on sox this year. Coming up 3 to the bottom of the division.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 07:32 PM) Not to mention Lawrie has been in the AL his whole career while LaRoche was declining and moving to a different league Yes but Lawrie hasn't been full healthy every year except for last year for a career high in games and has never lived up to his potential. The good thing Lawrie has going for him is hopefully being off of the turf now full time and being younger he continues to get better.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 07:10 PM) My point is that basing something on one person is pointless, which you just confirmed. Yes but Laroche has had more power in his career. He's hit 30 before. Lawrie hasn't hit 20 before. He's hit 16 which is the highest in his career and played the most games last year. Can Lawrie hit 20+? Possibly but it's not a guarantee. Can Laroche hit 30+? Possibly but again not a guarantee. Plain and simple need need them to produce. I still think the Sox are short a more run producing bat.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 07:08 PM) And Abreu blew away almost every projection his first year there. Well can all agree Abreu is a much better hitter. What's your point.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 06:41 PM) Don't forget a 10 year age difference. Comparing Lawrie to LaRoche is beyond ridiculous. How is comparing these guy's ridiculous. Lawrie is coming in here having career highs on certain stats and when Laroche came over was a bit more consistent producer in his certain stats. The issue is Sox need Laroche to desperately bounce back and Lawrie to continue to be healthy and putting up numbers. Plain in simple sox upgraded this year but still need guys to produce consistently. Really honestly sox are going to need to score at least 700 runs since every team that made the playoffs last year scored at least that amout.
-
QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 06:29 PM) 16 in Oakland last year, with the move to the Cell, i'd say the chances are pretty good he hits >20 People thought Laroche would be a 30 homeruns producer at the Cell and that didn't happen.
-
To me the best idea of the lineup is putting Eaton and Jackson at the top of the lineup and leaving Melky and Lawrie farther down in the lineup to be more runs producers
-
QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) Lawrie will put up 20+HR, they are swapping power at 2B for a Corner more or less. Thats a hoping he puts up 20+ homers not a guarantee
-
Based on streamers projections if Sox run melky, Jackson and eaton for most of your everyday outfield is only putting up 32 homeruns combined. Better be hope Frazier can adjust to the AL and Laroche bounces back cause the sox need those big bats to produce.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) Seeing Rollins over Saladino still makes me roll my eyes... I mean, I know that's what will probably happen, but I think Saladino will have a much better year Saladino defense yes but I'm not sure offensively on him

The #WhiteSox, who had been patiently waiting for Austin Jackson's pricetag to drop, will announce 1-year, $5M deal when he passes physical. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/706628201150189568 And cut someone from roster
-
So who gets cut from roster to make room for Jackson. Will have to make another roster move for opening day to put Rollins on too.

ESPN/Jerry Crasnick article on Frazier, new atmosphere

Frazier on White Sox clubhouse: "If the atmosphere is like this, this is where I want to play for the rest of my life." https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/706187507415670786 Been seeing more and more stuff on the what seems to be better atmosphere in the club house this spring. We can all agree last year didn't seem as lively but alot more stuff coming out better now hopefully. One of the things I've read was that Hahn wasn't only adding better pieces but more energy and attitude to the club. Hopefully the new addition of Frazier, Lawrie, Avila, navarro, Latos and Rollins really help the team. Get the guys jell together and pull for each makes the team better. -

Honestly I lost all credibility for levine. Dude can't get facts straight about baseball and yet that's the field he works in. He tweeted out when the Orioles were supposed to sign Fowler that the cubs were getting the Orioles 28 pick for compensation. Had another tweet that the cubs are getting back a second round pick for compensation for fowler signing with orioles. Kinda take things he says with a grain of salt. I'm sure the sox are still looking for an outfielder and probably a lh bat. I doubt cargo is getting moved. Seems tho the Sox are looking at whoever for the outfield can also play cf.
