QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) What would we have to give up for Michael Saunders? Jay Bruce lol

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Maybe better defense? Austin Jackson may be equal at bat, but he doesn't actively make the rest of the team worse with poor baserunning and defense. Austin Jackson makes our pitchers better. Yes Jackson would be better defensively but sox also need to be better offensively. Sox have upgraded the offense but when you are talking about having the 28 in baseball for runs theres some catching up that needs to be done. Now the Sox have upgraded offense with 2nd, 3rd and hopefully catcher but they might not have upgrade defense at those positions as greatly. All the teams in the central scored more runs then the sox. Detroit finished worst them Sox but that's a big to do with pitching. They improved the pitching so probably will be better unless they get injured. All the teams that made the playoffs in the AL scored at least 700 runs. Average runs a game for AL is 710. Just for the sox to get to 700 runs that's a 78 improvement. League average is 88 more runs for the sox. Probably a good comfortable offense for sox would be a 100 more runs then last year. Otherwise Sox better have some damn good pitching and defense to make up for the lack of offense. I will say they need a more improved bat if they are replacing avi.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Why don't you think Austin Jackson is an option? Boras might have been waiting to see where Fowler goes to make Jackson the last significant option for teams. I just don't think he's anything special. Maybe better defense but I honestly believe they need another run producing bat. Sox haven't spent much in free agency and if they are at the limit it's going to trade route. Just because Jackson is the next one up that needs a team everyone is now looking at him for sox. Just throwing it out there if the Sox sign Jackson you are looking at maybe only 30 homeruns combined in outfield. Thats why I belive they need another threat in the lineup cause right now the big boys are Abreu/Frazier. Also the fact boras is his agent he going to try to get him his money. With orioles and angels needing an outfielder still he probably ends up with one of them possiblly

Have to imagine at this point Sox aren't going to be bringing anyone free agent wise for OF. Seemed if they were bringing anyone in it would be trade as its been mentioned before.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) Wouldn't rule out Coughlin getting flipped again. Hope sox would be in on that. Why would the A's traded for him then. Would be stupid to trade for him and turn around to trade him. Maybe they trade him later but highly doubt the would now. If the Sox wanted Coughlin then why didn't the trade for him.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 04:52 PM) They have like 7 outfielders now. How are they going to be able to play them all? So why would they want Shuck. Right now Shuck is the only back up cf for the sox

QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) i don't know about bruce, i look at his stats and he seems to be not performing as he was 3 yrs ago. is he declining, injury too much, i just can't figure this out, but then again we are talking about cincy, the price to get him will be too much. Supposedly the price for bruce isn't high according to the almost 3 team trade involving him. Honestly of you look at Bruce's career stats and Fraziers they almost have put up the same avg, obp, slugging, and ops. Tho bruce has 2000+ more plate appearances then Frazier.

Heard from #WhiteSox they actually hold picks 10, 27 and 49, not 48. #WeRegetTheError https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/702924842270523392

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) I understand the frustration but then I look around the league at moves other teams have made that failed and realise it's not just the White Sox. For example, look at the Yankees, Boston and the Dodgers and the contracts they are stuck with, the Yanks especially. I'd bet the Yanks would love to go back in time and not sign a few players. At one point during the winter, I had read an article that speculated the Yanks would like to move Ellsbury to try and sign one of the big four. So I went and looked Ellsbury up on BR and FG to see if there could be a potential fit in a trade between the Sox and Yanks. I ame to the conclusion of, "f*** that", really fast! His numbers are steadily declining while under contract through 2020 and making 21M+ per season. Nope, the Yanks can have that contract and looking at that made me feel better about the contracts of LaRoche and Melky. There's also CC, Tex and ARod to go with Ellsbury. I much prefer the White Sox FO approach to free agents than the Yankees and some other teams. IMHO, the Yanks have proven that sometimes it's better to not sign that top flight FA rather than be saddled with a lengthy and costly contract. But the issue is Sox don't want to give out the big contract or length to get the big free agent they need but at the same time can't develop the big time player either. They are stuck in the middle and it's eventually going to cost them if they don't make the playoffs and end up having to trade sale and probably Abreu .
-
I really honestly believe they need a lh run producing bat. Fowler didnt do well vs right handers last year. If Laroche doesn't bounce back the only real run producers in the lineup up is Abreu and frazier. They need another potent bat to extend the lineup

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) Isn't Saunders knee the reason the trade didn't work? Source: Medical concerns in Bruce deal involved #BlueJays minor leaguer, not Saunders. Player presumably was going to CIN. Trade off for now https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/702130975304716288

Looks like the three team trade is dead now. Tho bruce is still available. That said: The Reds have shown a willingness to trade Jay Bruce for a not-so-big return, and other teams could pounce knowing price is low. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/701997921940742146 If Bruce's trade value isn't huge what do you use guys think of him or should white sox go after him

Latos still has fluid on knee, might not make opening day

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) I am sure it is true. Whether it is a huge issue, who knows. I'm sure it might be true but haven't seen it might cause him to possibly miss opening day. -
#WhiteSox DH Adam LaRoche said last season "sucked," did crossfit training for first time this winter https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/701476222035824640

So I really haven't seen much else said about the fluid on the knee from other writers. Only place it's come up is daily Herald. Not sure how much I can buy into this
