  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) That still leaves Davis, Cespedes, and Upton looking for teams with another team out of the running. The biggest lookers are the Sox and Orioles. Everyone else is on the periphery at this point. Also fowler and lesser extent of jackson. Nats are looking for cf. Fowler could be possible unless the do end up trading gio. Texas was looking at ozuna.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) Hilarious to think they could get q with Gonzalez contract. They may wait to see what happens with Ozuna. They'll have to take a lesser package. Not only the contract but also the injury concern. I can see trying for Q of its the other 2 outfielders but not cargo
  3. Rockies might be getting ready to move one of the outfielders if the are going hard after parra
  4. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) If SD signs Lexi, where does that leave Desmond option-wise? Maybe to the Sox, and then we sign a FA outfielder not named Cespedes that doesn't require a pick ? If we could recoup the lost pick for Desmond after 2016, maybe...? Cespedes doesn't require a pick. Upton and fowler does cost a pick. If you sign Desmond to a one year deal and as long as he stays with the team the whole year the Sox can deal offer him a qualifying offer then next year and get a pick back.
  5. Ya I just posted this in the other alexei thread
  6. Sources: #Padres still talking to SS Alexei Ramirez, as first reported by @MLBBruceLevine. Would require shorter term than Desmond. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/685514100147879938 Signing Ramirez also would enable #Padres to keep 2nd-round pick (1st pick, No. 8 overall, is protected). SD could get six picks in top 100. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/685514105285914624
  7. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) That would require a significant bump up in payroll, yes? Yes tho that all depends if uncle Jerry will stretch the payroll.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Dan McIntyre ‏@dmcintyre1991 4m4 minutes ago Rosenthal on MLB network says Sox still likely to get big OF and Desmond and Alexei still possibilities at SS. This offseason is slow If Sox get Cespedes then sign Desmond to a yr deal they only give up on pick this year and can recoup the pick next year from desmond.

  10. Jeff passon I guess said upton could do a 1 year deal. Passan: Justin Upton could sign one-year deal https://t.co/ab05ElZPRV https://twitter.com/Rotoworld_BB/status/685485055259598849
  11. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) Does Davis even have a market outside of the Orioles? I know the cards were once linked to him.
  12. Many MLB teams have spent their $$, a bunch in NL aren't spending any, several OFs are still unsigned. White Sox are in a good spot. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/685316922607570944
  13. If the Giants weren't in on Cespedes, interested to know how many teams are in the game besides White Sox. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/685316168459108352
  14. Cubs will probably swoop in and sign Cespedes just to piss us all off lol
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) Let me state once again my belief that Ian Desmond (or perhaps Fowler in June), one of the remaining Tier 2/3 starting pitchers and Parra/Jackson OR a trade for an outfielder that doesn't cost Anderson/Fulmer...that's the better set of options. Two of those four. All needs being addressed is completely unrealistic. As it stands, doing more than one might be hard. Highly doubt fowler and Desmond are waiting till June.
  16. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 06:27 PM) Cardinals threw a healthy offer at Heyward. They wouldn't do that if they were set on their OF, or if they didn't have any money to spend. Can only hope Leake took them out of any other major plays. Last I heard on cards is they were talking to rockies about outfielders
  17. It's all good. Sox will miss out cause they didn't want to offer more then 3 yrs. They will turn around and trade Quintana, fulmer and Anderson for cargo lol
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/685210889520283653 I guess no big free agents. Kinda funny how many national baseball writers said the Sox should be getting one of Gordon or Cespedes.
  19. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/01/whit...rs-waivers.html Not sure he lasts to long
  20. That's it guys. We can close the Cespedes thread. Hahn has finished his work for the outfield lol
  21. Just throwing out there for people on the skepticism of Cespedes 2015. Konerko hit 32 homeruns in 2001 which was a career high for him. He then went on to hit 41 in 04 and 40 in 05. Don't know why people can't take a career year in homeruns and said that that can't be a measuring stick for further years in continuing or bettering homerun out put
  22. QUOTE (JRL @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) Yeah, um the diff for an average player going from the cell to his former home parks are not as drastic as everyone makes it sound. That guy who gains 10+ HR a year by playing half his games at the Cell, that everyone thinks each player we bring in will become doesnt seem to have materialized yet (Dunn, Laroche etc..) Again, also excluding last year which was a clear outlier, Cespedes' offensive numbers including HR are actually slightly better at home than on road. Hard to blame his home ball parks given that info So what makes you think he can't sustain those numbers in the cell
  23. QUOTE (JRL @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Whats with this idea on this board that Cespedes is somehow the player he was in 2015, and somehow better than Upton, when 2015 was clearly an outlier for Cespedes?? Hasn't anyone ever heard of the refrain "don't pay for a career year"?!?!? In 2013 and 2014 respectively Cespedes had OPS of 737 and 751. That's really pedestrian. Also, Cespedes is somehow all of a sudden "an extra 30 HRs, at least" for the Sox?!?!? Just look at the numbers... 23, 26, 22, 35. Is it really terribly difficult to see where the outlier is??? Because he's played alot his home games in parks that aren't power friendly. Since Sox play in a more power-friendly he should be able to hit more homeruns or maintain a higher amount
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) I really hope the Sox can sign Cespedes or Upton or some of the comments made on this board are going to be unbearable. Ya I could see the Sox not getting anyone and Hahn going well just didnt find anyone to fit in so looks like the is it for the rest of the offseason.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) I still think at this point I'd take power over OBP. I would have preferred Gordon, but I could not stand how it took 4 singles to get a run last year. If Cespedes is added that's 3 guys in sox lineup with 30 homerun potential and possibly 100 rbis each
