Micah Johnson should be White Sox second baseman
Whisox05 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm talking the rest of spring training. If he does make the team and doesn't play well at all then he knows it will be him sent down to the minors to work on things. Sending him down if he's playing well at the end of spring training will affect him. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 20, 2015 -> 08:43 AM) here is the really hard question to consider. would it best serve to send MJ down to the minors to continue his development, esp in positional situation at 2b or go with the hot hand at 2b and keep him up? If micah continues to play well then you put him on opening day roster. If he starts to fall apart then you send him back down. If he were to continue playing well and everyone knew he had the job but you decide to send him down will kill all the confidence he gained from spring training. Now you would have to worry about him taking it with him to the minors and not playing well. I kinda think that affected matt davidson last year. He hit well in spring training but the sox didn't have room on the roster to take him so they had to send him down and we know how his minors went last year. -
Brad Penny touching 94, leading candidate for 5th starter
Whisox05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Don't know if they actually need penny tho in the rotation. If sale does make it back on April 12 which will be the first need of the 5th starter then penny won't be need unless coming out of the pen. But he has said that he wants to start and would prefer not to go to the pen. At this point most likely the rotation is quintana, Samardzija, noesi and danks. -

QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 18, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) Do you think he ends up a better defender right now though? I'm only able to rely on what you and others say from scouting his defense and if his glove is indeed major league ready then he deserves it. 30 AB's in March also don't change my mind about his need to show something at the plate in Charlotte. But it's helping. Again micah was hitting pretty well through July in Charlotte. He got up over a .300 average. We started to decline in august but that was due to the hamstring issue that he was eventually shutdown half way through august. -

QUOTE (Dunt @ Mar 17, 2015 -> 06:15 PM) What has Tyler shown to win the job over Soto thus far? I was really hoping Soto would come in hitting and showing he was healthy to take over flowers. Flowers should be on a short leash.

Command was a issue coming into camp. Especially fast ball. I'm guessing starting in the minors at the beginning of the year.

#WhiteSox mulling the next step for Jesse Crain. Could be side session, B game, simulated game. But he feels best he has since injury. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/577182319552823297 .@JesseCrain threw live BP again today and said its the best he's thrown all spring. Thinks next step is either B game or minor league game. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/577183502770290688 Again great progress for Jesse Crain. Another live BP session and it was the best he has thrown all spring. Some sort of game next https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/577185980496551936 Could be simulated game, B game, Minor League game. He has been off the mound 10 times this spring. https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/577186082053185536
