  1. #WhiteSox have had trade talks this offseason on both Manny Machado and Christian Yelich, but sources say they were not progressing toward a deal on either as of yesterday. @MLBNetwork @MLB https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/946739927395467264

  3. The #WhiteSox and #Marlins recently discussed Christian Yelich, but never got much traction. Chicago has a deep enough farm system to match up with Miami, but talks failed to advance beyond the "routine dialogue'' stage. Rival executives think the #Marlins will hang onto Yelich. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/944229769390034945

  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 07:01 PM) If we are talking about pure lottery tickets, I'd rather roll the dice on the 2x Cy Young winner. I'm sure you would but the sox already passed on him once
  6. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 06:56 PM) I honestly can't think of a downside to giving him an opportunity. In my mind, the positives far outweigh the negatives. Would rather see Miguel gonzalez back
  7. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 19, 2017 -> 05:49 PM) I'm sure he's not coming to Chicago, but he'd honestly be a perfect fit. Sox could have brought him in during the season but didn't seemed impressed. Didn't pitch that well for the Angels
  8. Both White Sox and Cubs still in on conversations about Manny Machado . ( sources confirm. https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/943241596564275200 It's Bruce so probably take with grain of salt
  9. That’s now eight teams who have enquired about Machado, six of which putting offers in front of the #Orioles. Popular. https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/942980240241975296 Diamondbacks also in on #Machado - one of the bigger offers to date including position player(s), a mid-rotation arm, and multiple prospects. https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/942979939032117248
  10. The #STLCards have been pursuing #Bluejays 3B Josh Donaldson much stronger than #Orioles Manny Machado, perhaps in part because they'd have a much better chance to lock up Donaldson to long-term extension. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/942881671275094016
  11. trade market now appears to be holding up free agent market. lots of big names being mentioned in trades, though no certainty many of them will move: machado, mccutchen, abreu, cole, duffy, archer, longoria, avisail, colome, herrera, harrison, kipnis, hernandez, merrifield, etc. https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/942850466874101760

  13. Seven teams were interested in Machado, most of which even put offers forward. None (to date) have been appealing enough for the #Orioles to bite. Orioles have a history of being difficult to work with, perhaps this is yet another example? Is Machado staying in orange for 2018? https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/942588321863053312
  14. "As of Saturday morning, the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks had demonstrated the most interest in Manny Machado, according to AL sources. Some execs involved in the talks still wonder if Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos will give a final approval to a Machado deal in the face of some negative fan reaction. But a lot of Baltimore fans are sophisticated and understand that Machado won’t re-sign with the Orioles after 2018, and that swapping him gives the franchise its best chance to acquire young pitching talent." http://www.espn.com/blog/buster-olney/post...bt-defying-deal
  15. The #STLCards have yet to make formal offer for #Orioles Manny Machado after initial meeting https://t.co/xa80MP8hq4 https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/941454005355601920
  16. Year after year, the #Orioles find themselves in drawn-out discussions and sagas. Many often don't result to anything of significance. It's embarrassing. Someone has loose lips. Just stay silent until (if) an agreement is reached and then announce it. https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/941452612133568512
  17. LATEST: The #Orioles want to trade Manny Machado and will only not occur if Peter Angelos vetoes it. They won't trade directly with the Yankees and want confidence he doesn't end up on-traded there. Risky, and potentially messy. O's fans understandably nervous. https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/941451749121912832
  18. If the Chicago #Whitesox acquire Manny Machado, they would have seven months to sign him to long-term deal or trade him again before the July 31 trade deadline to recoup prospects https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/941291280264499202
  19. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:46 AM) https://twitter.com/danclarksports/status/941278096354787328 White Sox are very interested in trading for Manny Machado, and would then potentially trade him to the Yankees in return for prospects. Yankees don't like their chances of trading directly with Orioles. Phillies are also interested, with Cardinals and Giants the others in talks. Knowing the White Sox would explore trading Machado to the Yankees, will this affect the Orioles' willingness to trade him to Chicago in the first place? I suspect it would. I'm certain nobody in Baltimore wants to see Machado in pinstripes next season (or beyond). https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/941278879976538114
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 09:04 PM) Haven't even thought of that...Wonder if they'll suck enough to protect the first Any team that signs a player who has rejected a qualifying offer is subject to the loss of one or more Draft picks. While a team's highest first-round pick is exempt from forfeiture, any additional first-round picks as well as Competitive Balance picks are eligible. Three tiers of Draft pick forfeiture -- which are based on the financial status of the signing team -- are in place to serve as a penalty for signing a player who rejected a qualifying offer http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/qualifying-offer
  21. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 08:58 PM) I wouldn't put it past the O's to plant this story. I mean if I'm shopping a player I want suitors to think two of the teams with the top farms Yankees and Sox are interested. I just don't see the fit. Machado is not going to get you to a wildcard and in the offseason all it will take is money. Some other team in win now mode will overpay as they should. Not just money but they would lose a draft pick too

  23. 1 source described #Yankees chances for Machado as probably 0. With #Yankees u must note adverb was "probably" and not "absolutely." NYY continues to say r getting under tax threshold, which near impossible unless Ellsbury taken back, don't think he'd waive no-trade to go to Balt https://t.co/sEhhfbKEtp https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/941103568769216512
  24. Sources: several teams have now made trade offers for Manny Machado https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/941101969585983488
  25. Boston, New York (Yankees), St Louis and Chicago (White Sox) are the teams who have contacted the #Orioles about Machado. https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/941040805279498240
