  1. Source: @MLB ownership conference call to ratify Japanese posting agreement scheduled for 1 pm ET today. Approval is considered a formality at this point; Shohei Ohtani to be formally posted soon afterward. @MLBNetwork https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/936612846330372097
  2. Shohei Ohtani development: Multiple @MLB team execs believe Ohtani may actually prefer to sign with a club that doesn’t already have a Japanese star; Ohtani’s camp has not commented on that. @MLBNetwork https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/936600677220003841
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) I have to imagine they are also looking at all of the Braves kids that just got set loose. To officially remove any doubt... #Angels GM Billy Eppler: "The money acquired in this deal was with an eye toward Shohei Ohtani and the pursuit of him as a player for us." https://twitter.com/JeffFletcherOCR/status/...389062490963968
  4. Although the Red Sox believe Jose Abreu would fill their need for a middle-of-the-order slugger, the White Sox want "an arm and both legs," according to a rival talent evaluator. Chicago got Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech last year for Chris Sale, and... https://t.co/CkVkipI0ij https://twitter.com/ScottLauber/status/936069446665457664

  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Why does that turn you off when it's more control than we have of Jose? I certainly understand wanting to hang onto Abreu but this seems like an odd reason to be turned off by JBJ. To me the sox are looking at possibly trading avi and or abreu cause they only have 2 yrs left and it seems they are looking for 2020 to be their competing point. If you get back Bradley you get 1 yr in your start of competing then you lose him to free agency cause he a boras client.
  7. I hope this brings other teams like the Rockies around with more depth in the system. Rockies are losing cargo and could move Desmond to outfield and open up 1st base
  8. The White Sox would love to keep Abreu as a leader . As Jon said they will listen and react if the package is robust with top talent. https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/935918427394408453
  9. plan is for ohtani to be posted friday. interested teams must commit to paying the nippon ham fighters 20M. ohtani hasn't been about the $ but the teams with the most international $ to spend are tex (3.53M), nyy (3.5M), minn (3M), pitts (2M) and sfg (1.8M). https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/935573224976539648
  10. Shohei Ohtani asked MLB teams to define his role https://t.co/jQVPKsDIcP https://twitter.com/HardballTalk/status/934567006254305280
  11. Ohtani mentioned geographic location and the role he’d have, as key considerations in choosing an @MLB team. “I want to talk with as many people in the organization as I can, and see if it’s the type of place I want to play,” he told me. @MLBNetwork https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/933410149137600512
  12. This offseason the Nippon Ham Fighters will receive $20M as a posting fee for Ohtani, the old system was grandfathered one last offseason. https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/933119198359900162 Source: Previous posting rules apply for the current offseason; new rules will take effect with 2018-2019 offseason. @MLB teams must ratify for agreement to become official, but that is expected to be a formality. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/933118745412882432
  13. Important note: Every team can sign Kevin Maitan. Teams will be able to use money from the current bonus period (2017-18) or dip into next year's pool (2018-19). They cannot combine the money from both years. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/933081338818777089 Theoretically, this would allow all teams to go after Kevin Maitan, but as we know, teams already have most of their 2018-19 bonus pools committed. Early signings are simply a reality in the current state of play in Latin America. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/933081643610509312
  14. Major League Baseball has informed several #Braves prospects that they will meet with them on Tuesday afternoon, according to multiple sources. https://twitter.com/BaseballAmerica/status/...793350142427136
  15. https://www.fanragsports.com/inside-basebal...hed-salary/amp/ "The White Sox are looking into potential trades for stars Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia. Though GM Rick Hahn pointed out that the market “wasn’t necessarily kind” to right-handed power a year ago, about 10 teams are seeking a first baseman, and Abreu may turn out to be a cost-efficient alternative following his excellent season. Both Abreu and Garcia are free agents in two more years, so the timetable of the White Sox and the two players don’t necessarily line up."
  16. Full report on new White Sox RHP Thyago Vieira analyzing the Mariners second trade in 2 days (and I'm sure not their last of the offseason). https://t.co/zjHjlB2esa https://twitter.com/jjcoop36/status/931217490742513665
  17. Vieira throws HARD. Clocked as high as 102 and sits 97-100. Also has a power curve. This is a Tommy Kahnle type of acquisition and a Coop project. Smart investment when just sending INTL money https://t.co/iYCt4Eksyi https://twitter.com/RobertHYoung/status/931206863496056839
  18. If you held a competition for hardest throwing pitcher in the White Sox's system, don't bother showing up if you can't get to triple digits. Kopech/Viera/Burdi/Lopez can bring it. https://t.co/Swibf0QinY https://twitter.com/jjcoop36/status/931206699544956928
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) While this is technically true, but providing more signing money to the teams that are the most likely and competitive to sign him they are decreasing their chances each day. We are not suitors for the guy. The guy is losing millions by not waiting a couple years to come over later. He wants to come and has said he's not as worried about money. Most he can get from a team is 3.5 million. Mariners only have 1.5 million anyway.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) Nice move. As others, I don't expect us to compete for Otani, so taking advantage of that market in this way is nice to see. Burr and now Vieria are the types of players I like seeing added. Not sure how much the sox have left in pool money but most they can give ohtani is 300k. So any money they have over that is free game.
  21. The #WhiteSox have acquired minor-league pitcher Thyago Vieira from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for international signing bonus pool money. https://t.co/ZMxIHPEJcM https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/931205448421789714 He was selected to compete for the World Team at the All-Star Futures Game in Miami, where he threw 0.2 scoreless IP. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/931205628760031233 Vieira, who currently is rated by @MLBPipeline as the No. 8 Prospect in the Mariners organization, pitched for Team Brazil at the 2013 World Baseball Classic. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/931205860809986049
  22. Breaking: players union sets Monday deadline to resolve posting issue. So in 4 days otani could know if he'll be able to jump to mlb in '18. https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/931181793679638528

  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 09:29 PM) Sox would have no shot at him with only $300k to throw his way. Would depend if they he is regular free agent or falls back under the international rules. Most he would be able to sign with a team now is 3 million. Could become a marketing thing for teams depending on if he only wants money or actually looks at the team as a whole.
  25. Sources: #Braves’ penalties will include loss of prospects. Story: https://t.co/37hSP0rcWr $ https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/930986548073566208 Unfortunately have to be a subscriber to read full article. Tho hopefully maitan is one of the prospects.
