  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) My preference for a centerpiece of the teams interested: 1. Bregman 2. Swanson 3. Urias (mostly because I would really like a position player back as the main piece, though I do believe Dodgers have good position players to add to an Urias package) I wouldn't be disappointed with any of these guys (plus the additional 4-5 other pieces as well). Swanson probably isnt getting moved. Would take alot of other prospects for the braves and not much position depth for them. Hopefully they are helping bid up other teams.
  2. They're legitimately talking to White Sox about Sale, at least. Price huge, but #Braves haven't pulled back yet. https://t.co/3PcgbP9kXb https://twitter.com/DOBrienAJC/status/799368161648934918
  3. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/could-a...rts-CQ-RSS-Feed Keep reading braves are trying pretty hard for sale
  4. http://www.ajc.com/sports/baseball/braves-...y0ZSbngiuha8WL/ "The Braves have also inquired about the Rays’ Chris Archer and Athletics’ Sonny Gray, but Sale is their focus, a person familiar with the situation said."
  5. Why @MLB trade talks heavy on starting pitchers? Big names available, light SP free-agent market, slow pace of FA market overall due to CBA. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/799323056565002240
  6. Multiple @MLB team execs say trade talks on starting pitchers have been intense throughout industry over past 24-48 hours. @MLBNetwork https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/799293942646775808
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 07:41 AM) I saw this. Robin used his starters too much and his relievers too much. Honestly you want your starters to go in as long as possible in games. Sox starters put the 4th most innings pitched in baseball in 2016. As for the relievers he had pitched some of them alot on back to back days but overall sox had the second fewest innings for relievers in all of baseball.
  8. So tigers are looking at Bellinger for possible Kinsler. Would hurt a possible Sale trade
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 16, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 9m9 minutes ago Sources: #Dodgers, #Tigers have been in contact regarding possible Ian Kinsler trade. Kinsler has partial no-trade clause. @MLB @MLBNetwork #Tigers have interest in #Dodgers prospect Cody Bellinger, sources say. Has 1.012 OPS in AFL and is what they want: young LHH with power. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/798970604674285574
  10. John Danks plans on pitching in 2017. Good comeback candidate. https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/798968569199464448
  11. Braves are aggressively swapping offers for starting pitchers. Rival officials think Braves and Astros will add the most help this winter. https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/798941952020344832
  12. Goin on in a few with @mullyhanley on @670TheScore in chitown. Talking Sale and sale https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/798883154123694080
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) - Jon Haymen http://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/heyman-bra...m-serious-time/ Removing swanson from the equation does those other pieces make sale worth trading for. For me no.
  14. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) How is everyone seeing "Swanson and Maitan should be starting points" and somehow ignoring Dansby Swanson's name? He's a GREAT starting point in his own right. So why not take a generational talent along with him, even if he's 4 or 5 years away? You don't want the Braves top prospect because he's too young? The fact that he's so young and thought of so highly should tell you enough. I wouldn't want Maitan is the ONLY centerpiece of the deal, but you're still getting Dansby friggin Swanson. Yes having swanson would be great but thats one piece. Yes to me maitan is very young and hasnt even played ball in the us. If you are taking 4 to 5 years away then alot can happen to him either actually making it or not developing into the player you thought he would be. To me i would want to be taking players that can compete along with swanson now or very near future not 4 or more years away. Plus maitan would have to develop in the sox system. Are you that sure he can with them. Tho do you really think the braves are going to trade swanson in the first place. If hes not even close to the picture then nothing to talk to the braves about
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 10:52 PM) Dude called out Texas and Gallo as one of his main targets. The Astros were the other. What the f*** Nightengale. He also then threw out JBJ and Moncada in the same breath. Uhhhhhhhh. Seriously? Ya i was kinda confused by that too. Both texas teams to me are at the bottom of the list for me. Even the rest of the guys were like both Texas teams are good to trade with. Outside of bregman i dont see much high end pieces for Houston. Rangers really dont have many exciting players. The really werent high on dodgers prospects after urias. Wasnt too thrilled with that podcast
  16. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) My first thought on this is that if you trade BOTH this offseason you're competing against yourself & end up hurting your return. Obviously whoever gets Sale won't be in the running for Q or vice versa. On another note, waiting to trade the second until next trade deadline or next offfseason would open them up to a whole new crop of prospects. You never know who will emerge next season in the minors, so staggering the trades over a year could have strategic merit too. In one of the weakest free agents in a while trading for sale or Quintana has to be better then giving rich hill whos the best free agent starting pitching on the market at least 15 million or more a year. The guy is 36 and will be 37 come opening day. Just 2 years ago the guy was pitching for a independent league. Waiting till next trade deadline is risky cause sale or Quintana can get injured. Also the teams trying to aquire them will be limited cause they are trying to compete. Offseason is the best cause more teams are available and also might be willing to give away a major league piece then in the middle of a playoff race and needing all hands on deck. Also next offseason you have a much better free agent class and then you have less years of control for sale and Quintana. Sox are in the prime of heaving two of the best pitchers available right now. Hopefully teams line up and sox get what they need in return
  17. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 10:17 PM) Kevin Maitan is f***ing 16 years old. A lot can happen between now and when he's ready. He can't be the key piece. Thats what im thinking. People are like give me maitan and swanson as starting points. Maitan just signed this july. Hasn't had any playing time yet that i can find. Waiting for him to progress to majors could possibly go into 2020s. Thats brand new starting out. Sox have to looking at guys that are AA or AAA for sale. They cant wait many years for a guy to get developed
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 08:07 AM) You don't need to post everything in 3 different threads. I think the regulars who come here would end up seeing the post in one thread at some point fairly quickly. Especially if there is a thread for it. Well i didnt post it in 3 different threads. I posted it here for twitter only post and created its one thread since it the first time that the braves are talking about it so ya
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 04:17 PM) Robertson had knee surgery recently didn't he? Yes. It was a cleanup. Said to be ready for spring training

  21. Jim callis from mlb.com at mid-season top farm systems http://m.mlb.com/news/article/193317666/mi...0-farm-systems/ 9. Atlanta Braves Preseason Top 10 rank: No. 2 Prospects on Top 100: 5 The Braves are building a formidable infield of the future around Dansby Swanson (No. 5) and Ozzie Albies (No. 18), either of whom could play second base or shortstop, and third baseman-to-be Kevin Maitan, the cream of the 2016-17 international crop who signed for $4.25 million after drawing comparisons to Miguel Cabrera and Chipper Jones. They have several promising arms, though many of them have control issues (left-hander Sean Newcomb, No. 58) or health concerns (lefty Kolby Allard, No. 73). If the three pitchers Atlanta took at the top of its 2016 Draft -- righty Ian Anderson (No. 92), lefties Joey Wentz and Kyle Muller -- live up to their scouting reports, this system could rocket up our next rankings
  22. Heard the Braves expressed interest in Sale before the trade deadline as well. https://t.co/nUeOm3qZjV https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/798521568276008960
  23. http://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/heyman-bra...m-serious-time/ "The Atlanta Braves have joined the Chris Sale derby in a big way and are among the teams trying hardest to land one of baseball’s best pitchers. The White Sox listened to offers at the July trade deadline for Sale, but rival teams seem to believe there is a greater likelihood than ever that Sale will be dealt this winter. The White Sox are said to be listening on co-ace Jose Quintana and just about all their veteran players, including Todd Frazier and Melky Cabrera, who are free agents after the year." For people saying that can't see sale being traded its pretty telling when when teams apparently trying pretty hard plus its the offsesson when more teams can bid
  24. Besides swanson not much position player wise in top 10. Mostly all pitchers. Would rather deal came from dodgers or boston with more position player depth. Plus side just adds another team going after sale. Could be nice bidding war
  25. sources: Braves r among teams showing strong interest in chris sale. they have the pieces to get it done, too. great farm! https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/798505225766178816
