  1. Trade Crochett and Popeye for Jake McCarthy, Dominic Canzone and Kevin Ginkel Trade Hendriks and Romy for Gleyber Torres, Estevan Florial and Albert Abreu Trade Sheets for a cost controlled middle reliever…should be a decent amount of possibilities so won’t guess on who, but something about Sheets seems to fit with Tampa to me. Gleyber fills the 2B hole. Would need 2 of Colas/McCarthy/Canzone/Florial to hit well enough to lock down the corners OF spots, something I’d be comfortable betting on. In a perfect world(service time probably still plays a role) it’s Colas and McCarthy as the starters, Florial as the 4th OF’er, and Canzone takes over for Sheets as the bench 1B/LF/DH/LH pinch hitter. Bullpen obviously takes a hit losing Hendriks, but I still believe Lopez/Graveman/Bummer is a good enough 8th/9th inning trio. Relying on some combo of Grinkel/Diekman/Kelly/Abreu/Lambert/Avila/Sheets trade to be solid in the middle innings is where it would get a little dicey…can also sign some vets to minor league deals to add to our chances. SS-TA 3B-Moncada CF-Robert DH-Eloy RF-Colas 1B-Vaughn 2B-Torres C- Yaz LF-McCarthy Bench- Florial, Canzone, Luery, Seby I think the lineup, balance, depth(burger, sosa, and Perez still in AAA in case of injury) and defense are all much improved. Cease, Lynn, Gio, Kopech, Clevinger still remains a possibility for a very strong rotation with some health luck. Martin stays in AAA for depth
  2. Looking at the Dbacks again, they are actually a very interesting trade partner. Along with Thomas, Carroll, Varsho and McCarthy already in the majors they also have a pair of interesting 25 year old lefty OF’ers in AAA that they drafted in 2019. Dominic Fletcher- Plus defender in CF who has hit .296/.368/.467 with 32 hrs in 290 games from A-AAA in 2.5 years. Drafted 75th overall out of Arkansas https://www.mlb.com/prospects/dbacks/dominic-fletcher-666150 Dominic Canzone- Sounds like an average LF only(has also played 1B), but his bat is the big selling point. Advancing through every level of the minors in 2.5 years he’s hit .297/.360/.533 with 44 HR’s across 231 games. 8th round pick out of Ohio St https://www.mlb.com/prospects/dbacks/dominic-canzone-686527 Not sure what a potential deal would look like, but it makes sense for the Dbacks to trade the glut of OF depth they have for something else. With TA, Montgomery, and Sosa ahead of him (with Romy as more depth) I wonder what Dbacks OF’er we could get for a guy like Popeye?
  3. Entirely possible….I can see a Leury, Romy, Sheets and Seby bench. Which is very underwhelming, especially when the AAA depth is also awful aside from maybe Sosa and Burger.
  4. Reyes/Payton/Haseley competition for 4th OF’er? Sounds like everyone will be the loser
  5. Yeah I woulda bitched a little if he signed somewhere for 120 or under…but no way we could/should have competed with this kind of offer.
  6. Varsho doesn’t seem like anything special, but is a lefty that hit 27 HR’s and is very solid in the OF. Also can catch but his arm isn’t good enough to stick there apparently…but could have value for us there if Yaz is a complete bust again. Also wonder if they are looking to get out of the Marte contract…Marte + Varsho could be an interesting trade package for us. Don’t know what a realistic offer would be tho…Crochett seems like a decent starting point
  7. Letting Hahn spearhead a 2nd rebuild would be insanity and shouldn’t be a remote possibility.
  8. How has he worn out his welcome? Maybe it’s because I’m an out of town fan and I miss out on stuff, but I really don’t understand the dislike for TA. Are people really on their high horses pretending to care about what he does in his personal life? Is there something else I’m missing? There’s like 6 pages of people crying about the idea of trading a soon to be 34 year old closer (Hendriks), but the idea of trading out 29 year old all-star shortstop gets everyone on board? Someone explain please
  9. Gallo’s shortened 2019 season was the only year he was a high obp guy. 2021 was his best full season at .351…that’s Benintendi’s career average obp. Gallo’s sits at a poor .325 Obviously the 20+ more HR’s Gallo will hit would be nice, which why I said I won’t be mad, but I’d be lying if I said I’m not a little scared of Gallo. I can’t do another Adam Dunn.
  10. I’m not going to be mad at Gallo, but if they are in the same ballpark $ wise I’d prefer Benintendi
  11. Agreed…can Gallo still play CF in a pinch? That would be helpful. Looks like he was decent in CF in 2019 for the Rangers, but hasn’t played there much since. But boy are the FA OF options that will make 4th OF’er $ bleak. Not much there. Could Wil Myers get enough AB’s between OF and 1B to justify whatever he ends up getting(assuming 5-8 mil)?
  12. Not much info on Avila, but I’ll take it. Cheap arm with some upside to possibly eat some innings in the 5th/6th inning…the Ruiz role. Looks like he was tried as a starter at 1 point, so even with the lack of innings so far I imagine he’s got some ability to stretch out and throw multiple innings. “A Modesto native, Avila has been a breakout reliever prospect this season. After starting the year at High-A, Avila earned a promotion to Double-A and he has been even more effective for Richmond. Between both levels, Avila is sporting an incredible 0.79 ERA with 50 strikeouts (13 walks) and 13 saves in 45.1 innings (40 appearances). Avila features multiple fastballs that hover in the mid-90s alongside an eclectic assortment of breaking balls that have done an excellent job keeping opposing hitters off balance. He was selected as the best reliever in the Northwest League by Baseball America and will likely need to be added to the Giants 40-man roster this offseason. Otherwise, another team would likely select him in the Rule 5 draft.” https://www.si.com/mlb/giants/.amp/prospects/sf-giants-prospects-casey-schmitt-nick-swiney-baseball-america-tools
  13. As a Sixers fan I gotta interject on this slander…the “process” was never completed because the NBA are crooks and forced the Collangelo’s upon the Sixers and fired Sam Heinkie. The process was ruined by bad moves from a guy who had burner accounts on Twitter talking bad about his own players. Regardless, the Sixers still went from a 6th-10th seed with no hope to a perennial contender…even if the big playoff success hasn’t come to fruition yet.
  14. He always did, his contract and performance aren’t bad at all…no idea why people didn’t think he had any value. I don’t want to trade him, but trading Liam may very well be the best way to both free up $ and get value back for this team.
  15. 17.5 for Bellinger…said to have turned down multi year offers to take the 1 year deal. Not that it’s a bad risk for them to take…but not sure how the 1 year deal really helps the cubs. Use the 17.5M this year to get a comp pick out of him?
  16. Not sure how legit, but would be a major shake up
  17. I’m not justifying anything. We all know we have an awful and cheap owner. But we also all know there’s nothing we can do about the situation, it is what it is. I’m only talking about the reality of here and now…the roster needs to be improved and trading Liam does indeed represent an opportunity to do so. Not to mention that there’s like 3 quality free agent OF’ers that you listed and Benintendi is probably the only realistic option.
  18. We have 1 OF’er on the roster, of course it’s conceivable we could improve the team by trading Liam. I would have no problem with Lopez sliding into the closer role. The biggest mishap with Jose was not trying to trade him at the deadline. Moving on from soon to be 36 and 34 year olds while they still have value is never a bad idea…now can this front office actually make a smart move and improve the team? That’s a fair question.
  19. Can’t imagine how fun it must be to be a fan of 1 of these teams that actually participates in the big free agent signings….
  20. He’ll def end up getting more, but anything over 4/100 is taking a huge risk on Carlos in my opinion. Maybe throw in a 5th year based on an IP incentive to take it to 5/125, but guaranteeing 6 would be crazy…and won’t surprise me if it happens
  21. Yeah you’re right, my projection was what I expect for the collective average of Vaughn’s prime.
  22. I’d say the 2006 version specifically. .298/.350/.477 with 24 HR’s sounds about right to hope to get out of Vaughn’s prime years. Very good player, shouldn’t be looking to get rid of that player by any means…but when you are talking about a 1B/DH only type of guy the value obviously goes down. If Vaughn could be used in a package without Colas or Montgomery to get an all-star caliber LH OF’er I think you’d have to seriously consider it.
  23. Do you honestly think the White Sox are going to sign a free agent to a contract over 100 million $ this off season?
  24. If it involves us getting an all-star caliber LH OF’er who cares? 1B should be the easiest position to fill. Even if you don’t want to commit that $ to Bell there are other options that will fill 1B adequately. I’be been a Vaughn supporter and haven’t wanted to trade him…but what’s his ceiling really? Of course signing Nimmo is the easy answer, but people casually talking about that like it’s not going to be a contract 30+M bigger than any contract Jerry has ever signed is crazy. It’s not going to happen. If we want to get an impact OF’er it’s most likely going to have to be a trade giving up guys we don’t want to like it or not. With that said, I would only do a deal with 1 of Vaughn or Montgomery, not both. Vaughn, Crochett, Ramos + 1 of Sosa or Rodriguez should be enough I believe. If someone beats that offer then oh well.
  25. Mostly traded Graveman to fit Jerry’s budget. Getting a decent prospect to restock also wouldnt be the worst idea. But I don’t think it would be a huge deal. some risk relying on certain guys for depth for sure, but I think the bones of a good bull pen are there for sure. 9th- Hendricks 8th- Lopez/Bummer Key 6th/7th inning guy- Lambert (maybe I like him too much?) The risk is relying on solid innings out of Kelly and Diekmam, but not much we can after Hahn screwed us on their contracts. I also think Davis Martin has a future as a good middle reliever. Sign a couple of vets to minor league deals as well and hope to hit on a serviceable arm.
