  1. Why stop at franchise history? Worst in MLB history seems more than appropriate.
  2. Even just moving the team back to the 5th pick is a big punishment…all the way back to 10 is just crazy. I also think the MLB is greatly overestimating how much some of the terrible owners like Jerry care. This new rule is essentially trying to force owners to pay up and invest $ to get the team better. Jerry is going to give a big “No Thank You” back as an answer, he just doesn’t care if the team remains bad. And he’s not the only owner
  3. I still have no problem with the idea of a Burger trade, but obviously the execution of identifying the talent of Eder was awful. Burger is going to be exciting to watch and root for a 1/3 of the season and then be borderline unplayable for the other 2/3 of the season. He is what he is at this point, a DH only that will end up with an OPS around .800 that doesn’t really tell the whole story of his season. The biggest mistake was probably allowing a GM you know is going to be fired to make a trade at the deadline. That’s was the biggest flaw in the puzzle, not trading Burger in general
  4. Robert has been in the league for way too long to still have no idea what a good at bat is. Even in what was considered a good season for him last year he still had a .315 OBP. That’s not a good way to have sustainable success. My guess is that Robert is the type of guy that has gotten by on pure talent/being bigger, faster, stronger his entire life and now that he has to adjust, make changes, and even study it’s just not happening. Hopefully this is a wake up call for him, but I also think a mentor would sure help. Unfortunately I’m not sure that person exists within the Sox organization.
  5. With the Sox its most likely the answer is that it’s just both…but I do think there is a chicken or the egg question in terms of is talent acquisition or talent development being the bigger problem. There’s undoubtedly talent acquisition problems (especially at the mlb level), but when you get to something like the Chris Sale trade and we are getting nothing out of what were multiple consensus top prospects at the time, it does make you wonder. I guess what I’m getting at is that I don’t think a couple of new guys in the front office are going to change everything. You would almost have to just start the entire organization over from the minor league coaching up. But obviously new, outside, voices in the front office would be a great start.
  6. Let’s just break every record that involves losing at this point. Make it as embarrassing as possible for everyone involved
  7. Keith Law must have known this trade was coming, his hatred of White Sox prospects is prophetic now. Law didn’t have Bergolla as a top 20 prospect in the Phillies system. 5’9 165 with 0 power is definitely Getz’s type tho. But it’s Tanner Banks so any return is good enough, nothing to complain about.
  8. I’m all for trashing the Sox/Getz…but a DeJong trade isn’t a valid reason for it. Any warm body for DeJong is sufficient value
  9. Tommy Edman is the exact type of player that will keep me from ever fully buying into advanced analytics. The idea that a guy that, outside of a handful of outlier hot months, can’t maintain a .700 OPs is a valuable asset is crazy to me. Nice bench utility guy, sure, but that’s not that hard to find or valuable. And he’s not even cheap or under long term control, just bizarre to me.
  10. This trade wreaks of desperation and tells me ownership/the front office still thinks this can be turned around quickly. There’s no other explanation to value Vargas over other legit prospects that haven’t reached the majors yet.
  11. There’s no way the Cards are getting away with not trading a single prospect. If there’s no one else coming back this feels almost like giving up Feede for free. I don’t think some fringe 19 yo prospects would have been difficult to get for Pham and Kopech alone
  12. I sill fail to see what appealing prospects either the Cardinals or Dodgers can offer…other than taking the gamble on Walker. Something like… White Sox out- Fedde White Sox in- Victor Scott, Leonardo Bernal and Josue DePaula Dodgers out- DePaula Dodgers in- Edman Cardinals out- Edman, Scott, Bernal Cardinals in: Fedde But even that feels very underwhelming honestly
  13. Congrats on waking up from your multi year coma….but I have some bad news for you
  14. Yeah now that I’m reading some articles it seems Edman probably has more value than I thought. Seems kinda crazy to me giving up any prospect with real value for a guy like Edman. But I’m also aware my opinion on this is worthless, so hopefully I’m way wrong and that trade can work out in our favor.
  15. Yeah Edman would be going to the Dodgers…so they wouldn’t be giving up any prospects of significance. They aren’t trading Fedde level prospects for Edman. It would be the Dodgers eating Edman’s contract and probably throwing in a 3rd lotto ticket prospect going to the Sox
  16. Why? Neither the Cardinals or Dodgers have a particularly interesting hitting prospect to get back. And what am I missing with Edman? I feel like he has very little value. A mediocre utility guy coming off of wrist surgery can’t bring much back.
  17. Emmanuel Rodriguez would be a very nice headliner for a Feede to Twins trade. Not sure if they part with him, but would be nice. Rodrigues and CH Culpepper? Cardinals don’t really have a headliner level hitting prospect. Trying to resurrect Walker’s swing doesn’t interest me at all. We have a history of making hitters worse if anything.
  18. Yeah I don’t buy it for a second either. But even if it were the case, selling the team is a pretty damn easy solution. It’s not like The Sox are a passion project for Jerry, take your billion + and ride off into the sunset if you’re truly losing $. Also, a crazy idea…develop a decent business model to field a winning team. The idea that you can’t profit off of owning The Sox in Chicago is ridiculous. Jerry just sucks at it. Jerry complaining about not being able to make $ owning the White Sox is equivalent to opening up a pizza place that only serves DiGiorno and wondering why your business is failing.
  19. Not trading Fedde would be a colossal failure. He has no future on a contending White Sox team and his value will never be higher. I don’t care if the return is consider underwhelming, he has to be moved.
  20. Got an excuse for the rest of his season? Time to accept that Eder probably just isn’t good.
  21. Wanting to stay a starter is extremely reasonable Being on an inning limit given his career thus far is also reasonable Saying you can’t pitch into the postseason…unless you pay me…is not reasonable. Either it’s a big risk and he shouldn’t do it or it’s not. Attaching a $ amount to that risk is dumb and would for sure turn me off if I was a GM thinking about giving up a haul of prospects for Crochet.
  22. So Crochet refuses to do anything but start, but also wants to be paid more if you want him to start? Sounds like a solid way to kill your trade value. His agent is dumb. The message should be “Garett will do anything you want, just please god get him away from the White Sox organization.”
  23. Keeping Robert scares the hell out of me honestly. He’s volatile with his consistency to hit the ball and ability to stay healthy. I understand not wanting to sell low, but there is also the possibility this isn’t his lowest
  24. I’m the opposite. I’m not worried about Crochet having success next year, his stuff is too good. And it seems like pretty much every pitcher is an injury risk at this point, I don’t think that’s as big of a worry as others are making it out to be. Robert on the other hand…if he doesn’t get off to a hot start next year there’s suddenly going to be a fairly large sample size of not being a good hitter. I think his value would drop a lot. Plus there’s just as good of a chance he gets hurt as Crochet.
