  1. Crazy, I completely forgot Crochet was even on the team… At this point I’m pretty indifferent on him…if he wants to start, sure knock yourself out kid. But also seems like it will be another lost year for him…stretching his arm out to be a legit starter and keeping him at a realistic innings limit at the same time seems like a bit of an oxymoron. He’s going to need to be shutdown by the time he’s ready for the majors…if he makes it that far. But then again, unless he’s the closer, having him pitch 50 or so innings out of the pen in the 7th inning for a 100 loss team also isnt going to help him or the Sox.
  2. I’m good without Spencer Jones in a Yankees trade honestly. Is he that much better of a prospect than Pereria? Pereria, Arias, Warren, and Selvidge would be a very nice haul
  3. I mean not sure I’d count DeSclafini personally…long man in the pen/depth, sure. And what would be a realistic innings limit with Woo this year? Seems like going into the season with him still in AAA ready for if/when there’s an injury wouldn’t be the worst idea. Of course I have no idea if the Mariners are actually interested, just going by the rumors.
  4. Mariners don’t have much pitching, but they could put together a very nice 3 hitter package without damaging their system too much- Gabriel Gonzalez, Michael Arroyo, Jonatan Clase, + lotto ticket arm is a pretty nice package
  5. Chuckle Robinson has been by far my favorite addition so far
  6. He should get a 2nd chance…will he? Probably not.
  7. I just hope all of the Orioles fans stick around for when the harsh reality hits that the AL East isn’t going to have a 2 straight down years and they find themselves in 3rd place trying to hang on to a WC spot. And yes, all of us White Sox fans are well aware of how terrible the franchise is…but at least we are dealing in reality.
  8. Crazy that he’s 29 already. Feel like it wasn’t that long ago he was on top prospect lists
  9. Yeah that’s honestly laughably bad. Orioles fans are apparently living on a different planet where cheap pitching gets traded for a bunch of middling prospects
  10. If you are realistic about the state of the franchise and also about who our owner is…exploring trades for Robert makes a lot of sense. Obviously you only take an incredible deal, but Getz def shouldn’t be hanging up the phone if a team calls about Robert
  11. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Ortiz doesn’t have value…but you just described a lot of the reasons for not wanting him. It’s mostly just about upside. The White Sox are far away from filling holes with solid players. We should be in the acquire as much talent with upside as possible and sort it out in 2 years stage. Hell, you guys can keep both Ortiz and Norby honestly. Beavers and Horvath probably interest me more. Kerjstad, Beavers, Horvath and DeLeon I would consider but would hope another team could beat. Anything less and I’ll roll the dice on Cease being able to string together 10 good starts to start the season
  12. Yeah Cease is pretty much our Alamo. Trading him for a marginal return does nothing for the sad state of this franchise. Might as well hold your ground, take the risk, and trade him later than take a mediocre return now
  13. I understand why orioles fans want to include Ortiz in a trade for a pitcher, but a guy who is going to be 26 before he reaches 500 AB’s doesn’t really make sense for the White Sox. Kjerstad, Norby, Beavers and a pitcher like De Leon/Baumler
  14. I haven’t been reading this whole thread (who could?)…but who agreed on Ortiz as the #2 piece? Big no thank you from me.
  15. I think he’s a guy to “throw in” to get 1 more good prospect out of a team if they need an OF’er instead of a lotto ticket prospect. Like if a team offered prospects 2, 6, 10 and 25 for Cease throw in Eloy and get 2, 6, 10 and 12 I don’t really see Eloy getting any kind of significant return in a stand alone trade
  16. Don’t know if the Red Sox are looking to buy but Cease and Eloy to the Red Sox for a package starting with Roman Anthony would be very nice. Roman Anthony, Wikelmam Gonzalez, Luis Perales, Blaze Jordan, and Wilyer Abreu
  17. Well it’s painfully obvious there will be 0 attempt at spending even a little bit of $ to sign a guy with upside to flip later.
  18. I honestly don’t hate the idea of signing Chapman and sticking him at closer. Of course there’s a chance it goes terribly, but if he succeeds in the handful of save opportunities he’ll get here it would only increase his value at the deadline. I also know there’s about a .5% chance it will be Chapman
  19. You think overpaying Maldonado by 2-3M is going to stop that? Let’s be realistic here. Whether the front office is competent enough to make smart signings to flip is a whole different discussion, but I promise Maldonado isn’t going to prevent anything. What’s the payroll currently at? Like $90M? There’s gotta be at least $30M to play around with if they so choose.
  20. I have very little faith in Korey Lee so bringing in catching depth makes sense to me. Maldonado stinks, but maybe he can help the young pitchers. And I have no why idea people are mentioning $ as a concern at all. Who cares? The team stinks, the payroll is very low as is, and Getz isn’t/shouldn’t be looking to sign any free agents to multi year deals right now. Maldonado could make $1M or $8M and it’s 100% irrelevant
  21. Let the Reds keep Lowder and feel like they are getting a win. Arroyo, Petty, Phillips and Hector Rodriguez is still a great deal for the Sox
  22. The Orioles are owned and operated by a 94 year old man who has shown that he has no intentions of spending $ on the team. Orioles are going to have to wait another year or 2 when the team is sold to have hope of getting over the hump.
  23. This franchise has so many more holes to fill than just 2B and RF in the coming years that concentrating on any certain positions as the return is crazy. The next year should be about talent acquisition. Acquire as much young talent as possible (and take some chances on vets to flip) and figure out roster construction later. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t really like the pick, but they did just use the 15th overall pick on Gonzalez who likely ends up at 2B (wouldn’t say Sosa or Popeye are dead in the water yet either). Also not crazy to think that Colas figures it out and fills the RF hole. Bottom line- get the most talent back as possible regardless of position. The only obvious pitfall to avoid would be getting too many 1B/DH types like the Sox have done previously…not sure that’s a worry with Getz prioritizing defense and athleticism tho.
