  1. DFA Albers after tonight. He's awful. All he has is a low 90's fastball he can't spot to save his life.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) Benintendi, Devers, Kopech, Vazquez, Swihart, and Travis for Q and Robertson No need to force trying to get a catcher for the sake of quality...Id be much more interested in prospects like Basabe, Trey Ball, Dubon, and Cosart over Vasquez and Swihart.
  3. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 06:33 PM) If they're really serious about competing next year they should be trying to get Lucroy from the Brewers. Then they better be ready to extremely overpay for Reddick and Encarnacion this offseason, outbidding other teams no matter how stupid the offer. Then, fix the bullpen. Then maybe they would have a chance to compete next year. What's the package for Lucroy? Fulmer and ....? We have pretty much 0 hitting prospects worth a damn in a trade. I can't see any circumstance where we could make the best offer in any trade for good player.
  4. If I were Hahn I'd be trying like hell to package Sale and Robertson to Boston. Sale and Robertson For Moncada, Benintendi, Travis Shaw, Kopech, Eduardo Rodriguez I think getting Robertson could sway them over the top in trading both Moncada and Benintendi. Would be hard to say they wouldn't be the World Series favorite if Boston got an ace and another dominant set up man.
  5. I swear if we stand pat I'm going to be beyond pissed. Thinking we can go into '17 without 3-4 new, and improved, position players would be beyond stupid. It's going to be huge $ deals for the few quality starting position players available in free agency and we don't have a single prospect coming. Painfully obvious moves need to be made.
  6. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) Do you think the Braves are ready to contend in 2017? I think the Kemp/Oliveria deal was more about 2 teams exchanging guys they don't want. At the end of the day the Braves will be paying Kemp very little and they get away from Oliveria's domestic violence baggage. Wouldn't be surprised if Kemp was dealt in the off season. And now that I say that....acquiring Kemp actually sounds a lot like a stupid KW move.
  7. So who are the realistic options for Robertson left? St Louis? Boston? Texas? Blue Jays?
  8. Navarro, Schuck, Saladino, Sanchez is just depressing to watch in a row. Utter black hole.
  9. No clue whether Texas could handle it financially or not, but would a Sale and Melky package make sense for both sides? The Sox obviously covet Mazara, but Texas doesn't want to part with a vital bat in their lineup. Insert Melky.... Sale, Melky, +a few mil if necessary For Nomar Mazara, Jurickson Profar, Joey Gallo, Dillon Tate, Yohander Mendez, Michael Matuella Ehh?
  10. What would adding Betts do for the White Sox anyway? Sure, he's a great player, but we still wouldn't be world series contenders with him and no Sale in the rotation. Obviously when we are talking Sale we expect BOTH quality and quantity. But I don't think the quantity part can be overlooked. The cupboards are bare in terms of offensive talent in the entire system. 1 guy isn't going to change anything, we need to accumulate talent.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) I'll have mixed feelings but I don't want them giving away Sale or Q. I think they can move Robertson for certain. Sure seems like it. I'm hoping they move Melky and Frazier although if they're both here I won't care. I just don't want to see our two stud SPs given away when they're in such demand and they won't. Robertson, Duke, Melky, and 1 of Gonzalez/Shields. Those 4 trades are the ones that seem like no brainers to me. There's a real possibility of turning those guys, who in all likelihood won't be apart of a title contending Sox team, into 4-5 young regulars in '18. Pretty obvious the offense needs an infusion of young talent and it's certainly not coming from within.
  12. Andrew Stevenson is a realistic prospect from the Nats I think we should be looking at. This is what fangraphs had to say about him. Sounds a lot like what we were looking for from Jackson. "He only needs to be somewhat close to average with the bat to be a full-time center fielder, since his base-running and fielding abilities have enough value to make up for the lack of impact at the plate. If he can maintain decent walk rates, and he ends up being more of a 65 fielder, you’re looking at All-Star type of production." http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/evaluating-...gton-nationals/ Stevenson + Koda Glover + Taylor Hearn for Robertson and his entire contract. Get it done Hahn
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) Eh, he's walked a ton of guys this year. I'm worried he could have a steep falloff in the next season or two and I'd rather take a prospect or two for him and call it a day. Oh I'm definitely all for trading Robertson, I just think he may have a little more value that you're implying. I think it would of course increase his value if JR were willing to throw $5M or so to soften the blow of the final year of his contract, but not sure that would happen. The Nats system isn't the deepest so I don't think getting 2 guys ranked in their top 6-12 is unreasonable.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Robertson? He has two and half years of control right? Yeah it's 2 1/2 years and just under $30M left for Robertson. Really not unreasonable at all in my opinion. Take out 3 bad outings this year and there really isn't much to complain about
  15. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/wade...medium=facebook Basically says that Robertson is 1 of 3 likely candidates to be on the Nats radar for late inning relief. They are UNwilling to give up Turner, Giolito, or Reynaldo Lopez. Also says Robertson's contract could be a hindrance, but shouldn't be an insurmountable sum for Washington. Taking out those 3 prospects leaves Victor Robles as the likely headliner of a package for Robertson...and I'd be perfectly fine with that. He's young(19), but he supposedly is a 5 tool guy that has done nothing but hit so far. SP Erik Feede(#4), 2B Wilmer Difo(#6), and CF Andrew Stevenson(#8) are other prospects of note in their top 10 that should interest us.
  16. Wait, the White Sox have minor league talent? Unless it's Fulmer I don't see what could we possibly get? Is Spencer Adams and Trey Michalczewski really moving the needle for any team?
  17. It would probably just be easier to label every prospect not inside our top 7 or 8 in the same category. None are any better than C level prospects and we'll be lucky to get 1 everyday player or SP out of the bunch. Good work as usual by future sox tho...no discredit towards the article, just more towards the state of the system.
  18. Sale to Boston for Moncada, Rafael Devers, Michael Kopech, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Luis Alexander Basabe, Nick Linghi. Robertson for Conforto? Mets need bullpen help and seeing what Chapman hauled it doesn't seem completely unrealistic. Melky to Giants for Mac Williamson, Andrew Susac, and Adalberto Mejia. Zach Duke to Texas for Ronald Guzman and Victor Payano.
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) Oh f*** that. They are giving up Moncada. Sale and Q are worth Moncada headlined package. Sale has even more value than Q (not sure how much) so Moncada has to be in it. I've been saying he needs to headline the Q one. He should. Qs track record, contract and age speak for itself. If Hahn can't get Moncada that's a failure IMO. Easy pal lol, I definitely want Moncada too. I'm just throwing the hypothetical out there of if Boston takes Moncada off the table are they even in the running? Would a package like the 1 I threw out even get them in the door compared to what other teams will offer? Or is it Moncada or don't even answer Boston's call?
  20. Because I have too much time on my hands at work i was looking at Boston's roster heavily and trying to come up with a package not centered around Moncada for Sale that would be realistic for both sides. Would anybody actually do the following deal? That was the best deal I could come up with that I think Boston would realistically do. Travis Shaw Eduardo Rodriguez Rafael Devers Andrew Benintendi Michael Kopech Michael Chavis
  21. Am I missing something with the Dodgers system? Let's remove Seager, Pederson, and Urias because I don't believe they will be involved in any deals. That leaves...De Leon, Holmes, Belinger, Verugo, Barnes, Toles, and a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds. Nice prospects, but no headliner there for me. And even if 1 of those 3 were involved it would almost 100% be Pederson....and ehh, not sure he's the prize he once was. Joc, De Leon, Bellinger, Verdugo, and Barnes for Q or Sale? Definitely wouldn't be my favorite package.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) So I haven't really said much on this, but James Shields commented yesterday I guess about Sale and basically said from the time he's been around him, he's been one of the best clubhouse / lockeroom guys he's ever been around. Given Shields overall sterling reputation (from a lockeroom) perspective, I'd take it as a plus. Obviously in the heat of the moment, he did something he shouldn't have done, but Sale had complained multiple times about the jerseys (last year and again in spring training when they had him try it on). He still should have worn them and not did what he did in the end, but it was Hayes who basically mentioned, people think Sale is this lockeroom cancer, when in fact, it is really the opposite. Maybe Sale is popular in the clubhouse and is liked by teammates, but I don't see how you can act like the culture in the clubhouse is fine. I'm not saying it's Sale's fault or that he could even do anything, but sometimes a fresh slate and new voice is needed by everyone. If this was the only incident this season I would just chalk it up to a guy being frustrated, but how Sale handled the whole Laroche situation really rubbed me the wrong way as well. Either way, a decade without a playoff series wins and its pretty damn obvious that something needs to change and aside from the FO (which 100% needs to be changed as well), Sale is the biggest and most significant piece that can be moved.
  23. I would take Gallo, Profar, Brinson and at least 1 of Dillon Tate, or Matuella for Q....I'm sure most wouldn't but I'm not sure how many other teams are making better offers. Boston and Houston are probably the only 2 teams that could in my opinion.
  24. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) 1)Trading Chris Sale would be the biggest PR blunder since the White Flag Trade. It took years for White Sox fans to forget about that trade. Trading Quintana would also be a PR disaster. . 2) After starting off 23-10 this season, did anybody see this coming? It's obvious to most people that the White Sox are going to be sellers this year and not contend for the 2016 Playoffs. What kind of PR move is not winning a playoff game in 8 years?
  25. I don't love the Rangers system...Gallo is flawed. Huge power but I'm afraid he's a .230 hitter in the MLB. Profar is nice, but as others have said, the lack of years of control makes him less appealing. Houston and Boston should be the targets to try and strike a major deal with in my opinion.
