  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 02:42 PM) For sure. Dude can hit and draw walks and ben .800+ ops catcher. The Sox appear to have plans for certain players to get some experience next year to help make a legit push in '19. We know Giolito and Lopez will be in the rotation and now looks like Kopech joins them after they snag the extra year of control. Collins by the ASB gives the Sox the entire second half of the season for Collins to begin developing working relationships with the pitching staff as well as Narvaez. It's all about getting everything lined up for the first push in '19. May as well add the possibility of Eloy coming up p by the ASB with Collins. As a whole, Jimenez is more advanced than Collins so why not Eloy by the ASB?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 10:42 AM) From today's red line radio podcast, white sox dave dropped some bombs: - Sox have given up on Fulmer as a starter - Kopech on the Kris Bryant plan next year - Collins up to majors by ASB next year - Adolfo injured his hand punching wall after 3 strikeout game https://mobile.twitter.com/barstoolWSD/stat...258872709828609 Thanks for posting this. Collins by the ASB is surprising to hear but not impossible. Good stuff from WSD.
  3. This is a really good thread. I pretty share bmag's sentiment on not just Yurchak but all mid to late round picks. Just going with the wait and see approach. College hitters should take in rookie ball so I am curious to see how Yurchak and others perform when moved to A ball next year.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 01:08 AM) Berrios was nasty. Sure do miss the LH presence of Delmonico and Moncada against a guy like that, He was death to righties, Sounds crazy from a Sox fan but I had fun watching Berrios last night. Dude throws some wicked stuff. That slider, nasty!
  5. 8R fifth for Kanny makes it a 9-8 game. Rose with a HR for WS
  6. Jake Peter with a HR for Charlotte.
  7. Hobbs/Danish twinsies? Hobbs with 3ER in the first.
  8. And Tyler Danish just said, " that escalated quickly ". 3ER, 1 Error and still nobody out in the first. Ouch baby, very ouch!
  9. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20170830 Durham @ Charlotte just getting started with Danish on the hill. WS @ Carolina just getting started with Lambert on the bump. Kanny @ Greensboro just getting started with Lane Hobbs on the hump back. Tenn @ Birmingham 7:05CT Jordan Guerrero and his Jim dandy on the hill. Helena @ GF 8:05CT Henzman pitches. AZL Sox @ AZL Reds 9:05CT Thank goodness there were no double headers, enjoy.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 05:01 PM) Danny Mendick having a good AFL would be nice momentum after a huge year for him. Sally might have to start looking over his shoulder next season.
  11. QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) Then there's Alec Hansen's O face Sorry, I just couldn't resist. Carry on.
  12. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) Glad Jose took notice of my criticism and improved. I've been saying for ages that if he loses weight his production will improve. Wah-lah, turns out I was correct. Keep it up Jose. Ron's world, Ron's world, party time, excellent!
  13. f***ing hell this thread has been hilarious to read! Please continue. Oh, as for Abreu, I think he's had a nice season but more importantly he is becoming the leader of the club. Considering the amount of Latin American talent the Sox have, that's huge.
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 10:55 PM) Meaning Eloy Jimenez is the best . Ah, many thanks.
  15. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 09:01 PM) I am obligated to acknowledge any time someone uses thebesss. This needs to become a thing, people. OK, I'm clueless. What is #thebesss?
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Not a single person outside of Greg thinks 2018 Sox will be a 120 loss team because that is absurd. Yeah. I don't get the gloom and doom tin foil hat stuff. I mean , we all know the Sox are going to go through growing pains while the kids mature and acclimate but 120 losses? Come on. I seriously doubt they lose 100 and I don't have high expectations for the '18 season.
  17. I think the Marlins put Stanton out there to gauge interest for a potential fire sale this winter. That farm is horrible and despite a nice little run recently, they aren't going to do anything in that division. With new ownership it would be a perfect time for them to rebuild. Man, am I glad the Sox did their rebuild when they did.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) L. Garcia 7, Sanchez 4, Abreu 3, A. Garcia 9, Davidson 5, Smith 2, Saladino DH, Anderson 6, Engel 8. The Twinkies are sure to lose their cream filling when they see that lineup card.
  19. I don't expect the 2018 White Sox to contend but I don't think they will be a 100 loss team either. If people want to use the pen as a crutch for the basis of their argument that the Sox will lose 100-120 games that fine but I'll go ahead and see what Hahn comes up with over the winter before making hilarious loss projections. Back to Kopech. Hoping he starts the '18 season in Charlotte. If he picks up from where left off this year, he won't be down their long. If anything, Kopech's walk rate is perfect reason to send him down to Charlotte towards the end of ST.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 02:16 PM) So Fine. Adjust the thinking. "Kopech will have a chance to be up 2 weeks after the season starts". Sox FO March 29th " we sent Kopech down to Charlotte to work on some things". April 29th " Kopech has eally impressed at Charlotte so we're calling him up".
  21. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 28, 2017 -> 08:36 PM) Was the two seamer halladay's most dominant pitch? I thought it was a cutter, but maybe I'm just getting it confused with Loaiza that year that were duking it out for the cy young. Pretty sure Loaiiza was the cutter, not don't remember if Roy threw one or not. I know he had a wicked two seam that moved in and sunk to RH hitters. I used to laugh when he'd paint that thing on the outside corner to a RH hitter for strike three. Great CB too, if I remember right.
  22. Oops. Hansen ruin NY out of gas. Bases loaded in the sixth with no outs.
  23. Ouch. Goldberg roughed up pretty bad with 4ER and in line for the loss.
  24. With Hansen's height and repertoire, he reminds me of a young Roy Halladay. No, I've not been drinking. Edit: I don't expect Hansen to throw a Halladay two seamer, that thing was just wicked.
