Will Eloy Jimenez get to AA this year?
BlackSox13 replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
Eh, why not bump Eloy to Birmingham? He's hit well enough this year at A+ to earn a promotion. Can always try Rutherford or Adolfo at WS and see how they respond to moving up a level. -
QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 10:56 PM) All you guys need some lefties in your hypothetical rotations. At the very least Rodon. But god, the most exciting part is how many of these pitchers (including Rodon), have true #1 ace potential. Lol, just a year or two ago the Sox were rolling lefties out onto the field like the Sox had a factory of them. Now, it's up to Guerrero and Clarkin to resurrect the lefty craze again. As for Rodon. He has good stuff so we can keep him around I guess.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 07:43 AM) I love that name so yes. Yep, nothing wrong with having another Fox. Besides the name, I do like Fox as a SS prospect. When I read up on Fox, Dee Gordon came to mind.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 07:07 AM) Jennings + Melky. Boom. Can we make sure Lucius Fox is part of the package coming back to the Sox?
-
Meh, Timmy isn't the first player to struggle in his second season. Let's see if he can put this year behind him when the '18 season gets going. The Sox have nothing but time and patience. With youth comes growing pains. We'll be seeing plenty of that in the upcoming years.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 08:57 PM) Hansen > Adams Nothing against Adams, but yeah.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 08:46 PM) I'm rooting for a five of Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, Dunning, Adams. Cease in the pen. Rodon traded for more assets. I'll take Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, Dunning, Hansen for the rotation with Cease, Fulmer and Burdi as the back three in the pen. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 08:47 PM) Luis Basabe in July: .279 / .347 / .456 / .801 and a 17% k rate That is so encouraging.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell

Shack is alright. He just has some groovy kind of love for Swarzak. -
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 07:33 PM) Jimenez needs to be in AA and Lopez needs to be in Chicago. Ha, no s***. Show mercy on our affiliate fans down in Birmingham. They've seen enough of Hawkins, don't ya think?

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell

The expectations for Swarzak were just not realistic. The market is flush with quality relievers, Swarzak is almost 32, an impending FA and had not had prior success since 2013. I wouldn't pay much for that either. -

Let's keep that n mind that the Sox best young OF talent is at WS and below so they will need warm bodies until then. I'm fine with this trade. -
A Swarzak + Melky package to a contender
BlackSox13 replied to TheFutureIsNear's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 06:40 AM) I like Melky and all, but I don't see him getting a 3 year deal worth $12-14 mill/year. If he is that valuable, a team would have jumped on him by now. I think he gets a year deal with an option from someone (I wouldn't mind it being the Sox as he could DH and play LF occasionally). I wouldn't object to keeping Melky around. When Abreu DH's, Melky plays LF and when Melky DH's Abreu can play 1B. Most of the Sox best hitting talent is a few years away anyway so Melky wouldn't be blocking any young talent. I got nothing against the Melkmeister. -
Sweet! Game one of a four game win streak in the books.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) Dan HayesVerified account @CSNHayes Following More Two scouts on Anthony Swarzak's value: could fetch a good prospect, likely outside of top 150. Lot of available relievers. I like hearing this for sure^^ Yeah, I like it too. That's better than I might have expected. We'll see what happens. -
A Swarzak + Melky package to a contender

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 03:49 PM) I have no problem giving guys who were "highly touted prospects who cannot hit big league pitching" a chance to fill a role next year. I do have a problem with giving things up for them. Agreed. I can see a swap of 4A players but I'd hope for a better return from Swarzak/Jennings/Saladino than Soler. I would swap Jacob May for Soler. -
A Swarzak + Melky package to a contender

The only thing Soler has shown is that he cannot hit MLB pitching. The Jorge Soler of today is not the same highly touted prospect a few years ago. The Royals can keep him. -

Hell, MiGo could make sense for the cubs. Hmm, MiGo would make sense for many contenders. -

Rogers makes sense. Nat's still need help in the pen and could use a rental starter. -
A four game win streak would be really nice right about now.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) Melky and Avi for Grichuk and Piscotty , are they too old at 25 and 26 ? They are having down years . Or Just Piscotty and Carson Kelly or throw Swarzak in to sweeten it. 26 is the new 30! I'd prefer to snag one of O'Neill/Bader/Perez along with one of Weaver/Flaherty/Hudson but that's probably not reasonable for 3 months of Swarzak ( free agent ) and 4 months of much improved baseball from Avi. Just don't think teams will offer much value for a guy that has just seemingly pulled it together this year. Hopefully some teams' scouts are impressed with his changes and offer something decent. If not, Avi is more than welcome to hang around the south side for a while.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 07:54 PM) Saw them at Austin City Limits a couple of years ago. They were on at like 2 PM and when they got on stage the showing was small. After the first song, the place was packed. Out of the Black is one of my favorite songs and I have a shirt with the cover of their first album on it. I discovered them through Apple Music and the premier of Beats 1. Little Monster was like the third song ever played on the station. As far as Catfish and the Bottlemen, they're great. Probably better than Green Day. Agreed on Catfish and RB. Both great bands. Over the last few years I've been finding a ton of good music coming out of the UK and Australia. It's been a huge breath of fresh air for me.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) I don't disagree with any of this. They're at a bit of a crossroads as a franchise right now where they're not really sure what the hell they should be doing. Because of that it'll definitely be interesting to see what route they take. Yeah, should be interesting. I hope they pull a 2015 White Sox move and go on a nice little win streak as the deadline approaches to fool their FO into thinking they are contenders. Buy buy buy!!!

Is this thread for real?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 02:13 PM) They're looking to find a bat they can plug in long term. Whether Avi counts as a big bat or long term idk but I do know they're looking to deal for someone like that. I hear it every day on the radio down here from our good friend Chris Rongey. I hope they do trade for Avi but Bader and O'Neill give them potential long term solutions that are younger, cheaper, under longer control and both are showing their power this year. If the Cards really believe they can compete for a WC spot, then Avi makes sense so I guess it comes down to how the cards feel about their chances this year. If I were the cards, I'd hold my prospects and shoot for '18 but that's only because I don't think they can get a WC spot this year. The Brewers threw a kink in that plan.
