The Cards are 3 games under .500, 4.5 games out of first and in fourth place of a division they will be lucky to finish third in. After looking at it that way, I no longer believe the cards would trade for Avi. Hope I'm wrong.

Who? Oh well. Welcome to the board anyways. Hope you like it here. -
QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) I doubt he does...but who knows. I'd bet Martes and lower level specs get it done. Maybe Paulino...maybe Fisher...again...who know how desperate they are now. I know Martes is a higher rated prospect...but no way they value him more than Tucker IMO. Regardless...my overall opinion is SUCK IT Luhnow! Snooze you lose.... Good call. Fisher and one of Martes/Paulino would make sense as headliners for Gray. Who knows, there are other teams interested in Gray so Luhnow may have to pony up or stick with carousel of starting pitchers rotating on and off the DL. Hmm, Gray would fit right in with that rotation.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 05:54 AM) Why do think that Collins' defense could never be "more than average"? What limits him? I don't get that either. Everything I've read about Collins this year has been high praise for his defensive improvements and strong arm behind the plate. His BA has been less than expected but his defense has been better than expected, I'll take that trade off from a catcher. -
The Sox are rebuilding and TA is only 24 playing a premium position. What's to worry about? Let's see what TA does over the next 2-3 years while the Sox are developing their young minor league talent.

QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) Shields will have value as a mentor to young pitchers next year As well as helping the Sox secure the #1 pick for the 2019 draft.

Purposely waited on voting until the biggest trades were done. Have non complaints with the rebuild and think the Sox have done well in trades, drafting and the Robert signing. I say 9/10.

Watch, Luhnow will give up Tucker in a deal for Gray when he wouldn't for Q.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) When I first got news of the players involved in the trade, it looked as if Polo was the fourth player, the guy thrown in as the so-called lotto pick, and the two real prospects in the trade were quickly added to the Sox Top Thirty list. Not so for Tito Polo. Then, I look at his stats and his scouting report here, and he looks pretty damn good. Good enough to easily make the Top 30 List. Why, for example, is he not listed ahead of Basabe? Same with just about every other prospect from Basabe on down. I hope they keep him at AA, at least. I think Polo is being over looked due to Rutherford and Clarkin. The Yanks have a wealth of outfield talent and yet Yankee fans were not happy about Polo being in the trade. I like what the kid has to offer, even if his projection is a fourth outfielder. -
Take the best offer, if ya get one, and be happy with it. I have no expectations on a return for Melky.

Anthony Swarzak to Brewers; Sox receive Ryan Cordell

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) The Marlins could have a couple elite OFs on the market this winter plus there are a couple good free agents. Might not be the best time to dangle Avi. Good points. Nice thing with Avi is the Sox have the luxury of keeping him if they aren't happy with trade offers. Not like he's blocking anyone. -

Starting to think that unless Avi + can bring back a top 100 prospect then go ahead and wait until the off season to re-evaluate. If Avi continues to hit his stock will be up this winter and Hahn can dangle him at the winter meeting to see what kind of offers he gets. Or,Moncada/Abreu/Avi could give us a glimpse of what the future could be like and may want to keep Avi around. Ha, never thought I'd say that. Still skeptical of Avi so I'm hoping the Cards get desperate and make Hahn an offer he can't refuse. -

Kelly would be great but if the Sox had to settle for a package headlined by Bader, it wouldn't suck. Like that kids bat. -

Swarzak should be in Rizzo's price range so maybe we see a deal with the Nat's after all. Now that a closer and setup arm are off the market, I think fair market value for Swarzak would be Carter Kieboom. -
Would love to know how scouts value Garcia. On one hand Avi is an all star having a good season and on the other is the mediocre numbers before this season. How the hell does one evaluate that? Is it unreasonable to think the Sox could land another top 100 for Avi, maybe in the 80-100 range? I really don't know how to view Avi's value.

QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:10 PM) Jon HeymanVerified account @JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago mateo not believed to be on list of prospects who'd go to chisox. CWS has shown interest in rutherford, clarkin, others. The names are beginning to leak out... Clarkin would make a ton of sense. I'll take that south paw.
