  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) Even better. Takes away an option for the Tigers to move Verlander. Exactly. I'm really hoping the tigers end up stuck with that contract. I forget who the board member is but someone posted this morning about how the tigers next rebuild will be with a bunch of other teams and how the timing of the Sox rebuild was perfect since there's few teams in the AL currently rebuilding. Excellent points made by that Soxtalk member.
  2. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 02:26 PM) Guerrero. First name that came to my mind. Ya never know.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:59 PM) I think were getting a nice mix of volatile, talented power arms with good body, 3 pitch pitchers. Only 2-3 have good control now but I think we'll be able to put 5 together with a bullpen. Hope to see even more pitchers come in and some come out of nowhere to pick up slack. Definitely looks like the Sox are targeting more volatile pitchers with big upside (Giolito/Kopech/Lopez/Hansen/Cease) to add to strike throwers like Guerrero, Adams and here recently, Dunning. The future rotation and bullpen is looking so promising. And now they've added Jimenez to Robert, Basabe, Call, Fisher etc for much needed outfield depth. Hell of a job so far by Hahn. Now let's hope Rizzo caves in so we can snag Soto or Kieboom from the Nats for Robertson or Kahnle.
  4. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:57 PM) This is awesome https://www.instagram.com/p/BWf1FIhg6oK/ Where's the yard sale?!?! Damn, it is sad to think we've already watched Q pitch his last game in a Sox uni. Sad panda. But hey, the Sox acquired another young stud outfielder! Happy panda!
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Jose Quintana isn't Chris Sale. Shocking, I know. You mean we shouldn't have gotten as much for Q as we did Sale? Shocking!
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) Yes. And I would have been okay with Glasgow Newman return. So happy with this. I think I would have put Q acquiring Jimenez (let alone their top pitching prospect) from the cubs as maybe the most unlikely of all of the acquisitions, maybe just above someone like Robles. Even with the fit with the cubs, I'm shocked. I know plenty of us discussed a Sox/cubs trade since, December? But even as much as I enjoyed discussing the possibility and as much sense as a trade would make for both teams, I never thought it would actually happen. Wasn't over excited at first about Cease but after reading more about him he looks to be the lite version of Kopech, which is a good thing. Great trade for both teams.
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) Hahn said December deals got to the 5 yard line with Q but this one trumps them all Hayes reporting Jimenez/Cease > Glasgow/Newman all day, every day. Patience payed off.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 01:00 PM) Before this was announced, there were rumblings that Kahnle was a part of it Interesting since we know Hahn prefers not to package players. Sounds like its possible.
  9. Aren't the cubs looking for relief help? Wonder if another deal for a Sox reliever could happen between Sox/cubs.
  10. So much for the cubs interest in Verlander. Sorry Tigers fans.
  11. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 12:01 PM) There's a pattern to this: Hahn takes his time, posters get impatient and say "Hahn is blowing this", Hahn Gets the trade done on his terms, posters say "Hahn is great". Let's just accept that our GM knows what he's doing. No s*** man. It's been clear to me that since the Sox FO went the direction of a rebuild that Hahn is the person in charge of it, and has done very well so far. Though I have to admit that having Sale, Q and Eaton as trade assets to begin the rebuild makes the GM's job a bit easier.
  12. QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Get Beer and suddenly future OF looks loaded.I'd also say this should put Avi on the market. Sorry, had to have a giggle at that. Hopefully we'll be able to add a Jameson to that future OF. Fun for all the alcoholic's!
  13. This trade makes no sense. How are the Sox supposed to compete after they trade their best pitcher?
  14. Plenty of us have been saying the Sox/cubs match up perfectly, but how many of us actually thought it would happen? Not me. Blown away by this news. Gonna let it sink in and read up on the haul. I do know I'm going to miss Q. 100% class act.
  15. 12 K's on the night for Adams. Very nice!
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) Especially so after the first month this year. Yep, that May 27th start is when it turned around for him. I think the young man just needed some time to grow into his 6'3" frame. Was kinda skinny coming out of HS.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 08:42 PM) I'm not big on ranking prospects, but I hope Spencer Adams is higher than Carson Fulmer on any list out there. I think that's what we'll see when the post-season rankings come out. Based on this year's improvement and being left handed, Jordan Guerrero should be nipping at Fulmer's heals in the next rankings.
  18. Adams has really picked up the K rate this season. Actually, the same can be said for Guerrero. Both have been impressive and should finish the season at Charlotte.
  19. QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 10, 2017 -> 07:27 PM) I'm totally with you on Adams. I'd LOVE to see him here somehow. Of all the top arms in MiLB...he seems like a very safe bet to be really good. The "Andrew Benintendi" of pitching prospects. Adams is putting up some really nice numbers this season between AA-AAA. If Q goes to the Yanks I hope Adams is in the deal. I also like Whitley and Perez from Houston as well as Soroka and Allard from the Braves. Whitley and Perez especially.
  20. I like the proposed Yankee deal in the OP. Looks balanced for both sides. Funny thing is, despite already having talent such as Giolito/Lopez/Fulmer at Charlotte, if the Sox added Adams I think he becomes the #1 for first call up from that group of pitchers. Adams seems to have been flying low on most people's radars but man, the kid looks damn good.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) Clark has shown the last two years his hit tool is mediocre True but at 20 years old and already has the ability to draw a ton of walks, I really like his upside. The power numbers are decent but the batting eye is there. Then again, so are the K's.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Robert Murray‏Verified account @RobertMurrayFRS 7m7 minutes ago More Regarding Brewers interest in Quintana/Gray, two rival execs think price to get either would be Lewis Brinson, Josh Hader, Brett Phillips. Replace Hader with Ortiz and add a 4th piece and I do that deal. Doubt Brewers would though Not very impressed with Hader or Ortiz but Trent Clark fits the mold of what the Sox are looking for in hitters. I know Milwaukee wouldn't trade three outfielders (Brinson/Phillips/Clark) in the same trade but one can dream right?
  23. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 10:56 AM) Riley Pint would be a good addition to a team with Jake Burger and Seth Beer. Come to think of it, if the Rockies got Beer the opportunities would be endless. Pint and Beer playing at Coors! Don't forget the Jameson (Fisher).
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 9, 2017 -> 07:38 AM) Packages I would take for Quintana: HOU: Tucker, Whitley, Alvarez NYY: Frazier, Adams, Andujar, Abreu MIL: Brinson, Ortiz, Diaz CHC: Jimenez, Cease, Candelario, Perlaza ATL: Acuna, Anderson, Riley Any of these riduculous? Yankees give up four top 10 guys, but Frazier is a cut below those other OFs based on the most recent mid-year prospect rankings. And it would clear three spots from their 40 man roster crunch. I like your Yankees proposal the best. Was tough because you included Whitley with Tucker and Whitley is the pitcher I've had my eye on since last winter so I struggled with which I thought was the best proposal. But man, Whitley would fit right in with Hansen and Dunning in Winston-Salem.
  25. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 08:01 PM) Would be a nice surprise if he forced his way through the minors quickly. Agreed. I doubt Dulin 1B and Conlan 3B in WS will prevent Sheets and Burger from being moved up when the time comes. I think both end up in WS come August. Collins and Basabe could sure use the help.
