QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 19, 2017 -> 06:09 PM) dunning struggling Poor guy has had a rough time since moving up to WS. Kind of baffling considering how he dominated in Kanny so easily.

Game 1 Kanny Booker 2-4 2R 2B Adolfo 2-3 1R 2B RBI Fisher 1-3 2B RBI Comito, bad day f*** it.

QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ May 19, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) They might as well send Hawkins down too while they're at it, or whenever it is he comes off the DL next. Good call. Maybe his demotion comes when he gets off the DL. Move Lassiter up to Birmingham in place of Hawkins.

Lol, demoting Barnum is such a waste. Dude needs his walking papers and a change of scenery. Bummer for Trey though. Was looking for him to improve upon his AA numbers from last year. Whoops.

LMFAO. Just noticed Pedro Alvarez batting .190 for the Tides. Guess the Sox weren't so dumb after all for passing on him.
-
Sox say DL but the real reason is that Moncada is on his way to see Robert and tell him to sign with the Sox.
-
Gonna be a rough day for a pitcher when he's throwing less than 50% strikes. It's a long season so there's plenty of time for Giolito to work things out.
-
Damn. Been listening to Soundgarden since their debut album. Cornell had such an amazing voice and wrote some killer tunes. RIP Chris Cornell. It's really sad to think about how many deaths have come from the grunge scene since the 80's.

Would be nice to see Robertson go on a hot streak right about now.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) Faedo should be pitching on ESPN tonight. Watched a lot of highlights of him and almost all his strikeouts on the slider Was just watching a highlight video of Faedo on YouTube. Couple of the sliders he threw reminded me of Peavy's. Looked a few curve balls were thrown too. One thing I do know is that I saw not one straight pitch. Everything was bending, sliding, breaking or falling off the table.Sick movement in his repertoire.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 17, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) Pirates fans are probably happy they kept their prospects (granted Meadows hasn't been good this year). Definitely need more than Q to be good. No Kang for likely a full year and no Marte for half a season hurts. And Freese always seems to go on the dl consistently. The Pirates have had it rough so far and I doubt it gets better for them. Huntington seems to have played his cards right by not going crazy to get Q last winter. Was hoping Pitt could compete until the deadline to keep them in the mix for Q and Cole off the trade market but that's not looking good. Worse yet, I can totally see the Yanks getting after Cole. The Pirates farm could get a nice boost this summer.
-
I like Rosenthal rumors. Houston and Pitt match up well for trade partners so who knows.

QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ May 17, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) Hawkins was a hot mess when he pitched for the Cubs. Yes he was. Along with Baker and Jay Mariotti. Pretty sure that's when Mariotti started referring to Hawkins as Latoya. What a great summer of baseball for Sox fans. The South sides were on their way to the WS and the cubs were comedic gold in the media.

Absolutely well done Jake and a very impressive analysis on Saladino that is spot on.

QUOTE (yesterday333 @ May 17, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) I was kinda thinking the same thing. I think you've got to get Tapia and/or Mcmahon in there as well. Ya know, at first I kinda giggled ( shame on me) when you mentioned McMahon because he was no better than Trey last season. Then I looked up McMahon to see what he's doing this year and was surprised. Looks like he's adjusted to AA well this year, much better numbers than 2016. If he continues to hit he should make it AAA at some point this summer. Good call.
-
Luckily few people really care what Latoya Hawkins thinks.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 16, 2017 -> 10:55 PM) I'd imagine one of Sanchez/Saladino will eventually stay as a backup IF and the other will be traded (probably not for much, but better than nothing) QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:33 PM) Nothing, but nothing, will block Mr. Moncada from claiming second base at that point when management feels he's ready for the promotion. These two posts sum it up best. See, no predicament now and all is well in Soxland. Anyone playing second right now is merely keeping the position warm until Moncada comes up.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2017 -> 01:42 AM) Saw on a fangraphs chat that a scout compared him to Tulo Damn, that's a pretty lofty comp. Like him that much more now. Forget Robertson, I hope the Nat's really go after Q with an offer beginning with Robles and Kieboom. I know, I'm reaching a bit.
-
QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 17, 2017 -> 01:35 AM) And Robertson promptly damages his trade value. Hahn you gotta know what prospects you want ahead of time and strike while the iron is hot. Not wait for Robertson to hit a rough patch. Takes two to tango and right now, nobody's buying, yet. Hahn cannot force another GM to make a trade.
-
QUOTE (yesterday333 @ May 16, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) I really like Kieboom... partly because of the name but also I think he could play anywhere in the infield and hit well. Have read some really good things about Kieboom, mostly about his bat which I like alot. He's plenty good enough to headline a Robertson trade, IMHO. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ May 16, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) Juan Soto on DL with a badly sprained ankle sliding home. Will be out awhile s***...
-
QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 16, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) Stevenson to me is a 4th outfielder at the major league level. He's a quality defender, with solid speed, but his bat offers ZERO power and and his hit tool is average. I'd much rather have Kieboom or Soto. Stevenson's career minor league .706 scares the heck out of me when translating to the next level. I view him as a slightly better Charlie Tilson. For me, Soto has to be the headliner for Robertson, unless they want to start with Robles in which I would not complain. Stevenson could make for an interesting second or third piece. He he, I wonder if Hahn could squeeze Soto and Fedde for Robertson? Probably not but if the Nat's pen continues to struggle it could become more possible.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 16, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) He's been awful in the big leagues though. Something like 2 for his last 28. I think he's okay, but looks lost in his at bats and isn't a defensive stud either. Happ on the other hand, looks very much the part. If your going to get all bat, no glove, I'll gladly take him. Haven't watched any cub games so I missed Candelerio's struggles but still like him as a prospect. Happ, yeah, been liking his bat since the '15 college season. There was a part of me that was hoping the Sox would take Happ over Fulmer that year, not that I'm complaining about Fulmer. I think the Cubs end up keeping Happ and use Schwarber as trade bait for pitching in July. As for the deadline article. No, Kyle Schwarber will not get the cubs Q straight up. If we're talking straight up offers for Schwarber, the cubs can choose any one of MiGo/Holland/Shields to join the cubs pitching staff.
-
QUOTE (yesterday333 @ May 16, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) Yeah, if we made that trade and signed Robert, the bats in our farm no longer are a weakness... No doubt. Would be fun talking about future lineup cards with names like Collins, Moncada, Robert, Happ, Candelerio, Jimenez and hopefully Haseley to throw out there. Then there's stil Basabe, Call, Remillard, Fisher and Schnurbush to consider. Who knows, maybe we can add Soto and/or Kieboom to that list if the Nat's ( enter David Robertson) continue to have bullpen problems. I do wonder how serious the reported Nat's interest in Q is. The Nat's still have Robles, Soto, Kieboom and Fedde so the Nat's still have enough talent left to make a solid offer for Q. Would be funny to see a desperate Rizzo come crawling back on his knees for second's.

QUOTE (joejoedairy @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) Hansen done after 6 2/3 IP. 4 Hits, 2 Walks, 0 Runs. 7 Ks. Very solid game. Yep and he threw 94 pitches with 65 being strikes. To me, that speaks volumes about his control/command today. He should be joining Dunning in WS soon.
