  1. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) I think the cubs are a great partner for the sox. With their starting pitching situation and their prospects it makes too much sense. Is Happ, Jemenez, and Cadelario too much to ask? I think the price is reasonable. Candelerio is raking so far in Iowa and boy could the Sox use a young talent like him at 3B.
  2. As most of us already now the Sox are rebuilding and these things take time. No rush to move Q and if the right offers aren't there then wait it out until the off season. Hahn can do like he did last year with Sale and lay ground work for an off season trade in July/August. Just because Q is still here doesn't mean his value has dropped or that he will never be traded. Patience. June is right around the corner so the rumors should hopefully pick up in the next few weeks.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 15, 2017 -> 07:24 AM) As always, if you're looking for video of White Sox prospects, check out the FutureSox YT Channel. We've got at least a couple of Morrison up there now. You can search within the channel by last name. Dude, as always, the folks at future Sox rock. Thank you the link.
  4. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) C'mon, Josh. This was such an obvious waste of financial resources when the trade came down. We were doing the Padres a Huge favor by taking whatshisname off their hands. Granted, Tatis, Jr. had not yet played in the states, but Sox scouted him, paid him a bunch of money, and before we knew it, he is a legitimate prospect. And granted, the name Luis Robert was not yet on our lips, but there was a lot of talk about signing international talent. There were members here who criticized the trade immediately, not necessarily because of the Tatis inclusion, but because of the other half of the trade. Exactly. Just about everyone except for the Sox FO knew Shields moving from an NL pitchers park to the south side launching pad was a bad idea.
  5. QUOTE (Wanne @ May 15, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) Red Sox aren't giving up Devers...why give up the best prospect you have at a position of need for them? Just don't see it happening... Yeah, I think the Red Sox would be more interested in a rental type like Holland or MiGo to help out this year.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ May 14, 2017 -> 05:24 PM) Jeez, just send Morrison to AA. No doubt. Those stats are out of a video game.
  7. The shine hasn't wore off considering he's 18 and playing in the same league as Collins. Tatis' numbers are just a short fall off from last year but that's to be expected when playing against a higher level of competition than he did in '16. Still don't get what the Sox FO was thinking when they traded for Shields last year.
  8. James Shields with his Bin Laden beard would look dashing as a header.
  9. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 14, 2017 -> 05:19 PM) Is Severino really *that* good defensively? His bat wouldn't be an upgrade over Narvaez and as a framer Narvaez rates as around average. Everything I've read has spoken well of Severino's defense. Just an example. https://www.google.com/amp/www.minorleagueb...spects-for-2017 Not trying to sell anyone on Severino, just saying why I'd take him as a non-headliner.
  10. Yesterday I said something about Asche being gone soon and replaced by Delmonico so I'll stick with Nicky as my guess.
  11. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 14, 2017 -> 04:47 PM) With Zack Collins improved defense this year I'm not sure we need Severino any more. That was the big question mark with Collins. But I would gladly take Soto and Kieboom. I'm just as high on Collins as anyone but I'm not going to assume he sticks at catcher. Besides, even if Collins sticks, 1) he won't be ready for a few years 2) will need a backup anyway. Let's not forget that Collins is still in Winston-Salem.
  12. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ May 14, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) Why do people keep talking about Severino? He has never been a great hitter at any level? Unless he is the best defensive catcher ever then get another position player who has more offensive upside. He isnt even a top prospect for that Nats. Because he's only 23 and already playing at AAA to go along with his defense, framing and game calling. Yes, his bat is weak and there have been plenty of defensive catchers that were starters. Look no further than the Sox very own Officer Ron Karkovice. If given a choice between a good offensive catcher with weak defense or a strong defensive catcher with a weak bat, I'll take the defense every time.
  13. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 14, 2017 -> 03:15 PM) Very good day for Zack Collins. HR and 2 walks so far today. Make that 3BB. Good grief, if Collins can get his swing to be as good as his batting eye he will be some kind of monster in the middle of the order.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 14, 2017 -> 03:41 PM) Who do they have left to trade us? More than enough. Robertson won't bring back Robles as part of a trade but the Nat's still have Fedde, Soto, Kieboom and Severino in their system all of which are quality prospects that should interest the Sox. I didn't include Glover since trading a reliever for a reliever doesn't help a team desperate that's for relievers. The Nat's easily have the pieces if Rizzo becomes serious about Robertson. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=was
  15. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 13, 2017 -> 07:26 PM) Bernardo Flores 6.0 IP, 4H, 0R, 1BB, 6K So glad you posted this. I was about to google a scouting report on Flores.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 13, 2017 -> 12:00 PM) Here are my top 10 starting pitching prospects in the system as of 5/13: 1. Kopech 2. Lopez 3. Fulmer 4. Giolito 5. Dunning 6. Hansen 7. Adams 8. Stephens 9. Guerrero 10. Cooper That's a nice group of pitching prospecta and there are some decent ones that just missed. Got to love our pitching depth right now. Good list. Only thing I might do differently would be 8. Cooper 9. Stephens 10. Guerrero. But those three are pretty interchangeable rounding out the top ten. Might be adding a first rounder to that list if the the big bats come off the board and the Sox feel the BPA at #11 is a SP. Hopefully the BPA will be a bat.
  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 13, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) Burdi is being developed solely as a reminder, which is why I left him off the list. I think he can be a successful set up or potential closer. Adams has been hittable, but he's still pretty young for the AA level at 21. He could turn into a back end starter? Our farm pretty desperately needs more bats with potential Man, you aren't kidding about the bats. Hopefully the Sox can help that with the draft and some deadline trades. As for Adams, I think he could become a pitcher along the lines of MiGo. Thing about Adams is he's lanky and still growing into his frame. Give him a few more years and I think he fills out a bit more with more strength that could help his FB velocity and his breaking ball spin rate. Or, at least that's what I'm hoping for.
  18. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 13, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) Actually Greg, I think the "rebuild" people basically want one thing...to start winning again. It wasn't happening over the last decade with the philosophy in place. It was time for a change. Just my opinion. Exactly. The old way of doing things wasn't working so it was time to change the approach to building a contender and rebuilding the farm is one of those changes that needed to be made.
  19. Hawk's voice is not something I'd want to wake up to but still a cool idea. If anyone on the board gets to the game, let us know what you think of the Hawk clock.
  20. QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 12, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) He has looked good so far. 5 IP on 66 pitches, one walk. Edit:thought he had 5 innongs but in fact had 4. Seeing Fulmer succeed like this shows that it isnt too late for Giolito. Yeah, definitely agree. I refuse to get down on Giolito when he's just going on 23. Too young and in the middle of making changes to pass judgement on just yet. But yeah, Fulmer is looking like the clear front runner ( for the time being ) to be the first called up. Lopez and Giolito still have control issues to work on.
  21. Ha ha, there's a blast from the past. Just looked at the Kanny box score and noticed Shawon Dunston Jr in the lineup for Augusta. I have to give Fulmer credit. I didn't expect him to rebound this quickly. Looks like he's doing a better job of throwing strikes and it's paying off.
  22. Delmonico gets the call soon to replace Soxtalk's bastard step child, Cody Asche. Next one after that I think will be Brian Clark. I don't think the big pitching names like Lopez, Giolito and Fulmer get a chance at a call-up until some starting pitching is dealt and could use more time anyway. Moncada is worth the wait so however long he takes is fine with me, no rush.
  23. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 12, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) I don't think a team would really offer up all that much for Kahnle due to such a short short track record of performance Why move him for a middling prospect or two when the upside is likely better to keep him for a while longer? Kahnle is one of those players I wouldn't actively seek to trade, just open to the idea if the right price was offered. I agree that it's likely nobody will pay a ransom because Kahnle doesn't have the track record yet and that's fine with me. I'm hoping the Sox can trade Robertson and Jones for nice hauls, call up Burdi and Clark to replace them and join Kahnle in the pen. If Robertson and Jones can be traded I don't think Kahnle is going anywhere anytime soon.
  24. Nice thing about Kahnle is having the luxury of keeping him for the next contender or trade him. Personally, I wouldn't try to trade Kahnle but if a desperate GM wants to offer a kings random then I'm game. I like the future potential in a back three of Kahnle, Burdi and Clark.
