  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) No chance Torres goes anywhere IMO. At this point I would agree. Now if the Yanks are in the WC hunt come July then that could change. I'm not counting on Torres to be a headliner, just wishful thinking. Realistically I think a package of Mateo/Rutherford headlining could suit both teams well. It's just a matter of filling out the rest of the trade. Something like Mateo/Rutherford/Montgomery/Fowler + flier might work.
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 12:02 PM) I feel like Torres is the hold up in this deal. Hahn needs to get him back and Cashman is reluctant to throw him in, similar to what happened with Dombroski and Moncada. I don't even think Frazier is acceptable as a headliner for what Hahn wants to get done. Not high on Frazier myself. I'm hoping for something along the lines of Torres/Rutherford/Montgomery/Fowler for Q. I really don't think asking for two highly ranked A ball players is asking too much as a headliner in a trade for Q.
  3. QUOTE (Soha @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) I'm not going to lie, I thought we'd see a little more from Moncada than we've seen thus far this spring. He is young, but being the #2 ranked prospect and the headliner for Chris Sale - I was hoping to get wowed a bit this spring. Part of it for me was wanting to see what made him such a huge prospect. His numbers don't really stand out in the minors like some of the other blue chip type prospects' numbers do. He didn't tear up any leagues like Kris Bryant, Austin Meadows or Benintendi have. So what exactly made him this monster prospect and when will it start to show it's face? Again, I know he's 21 and we need to be patient. Just saying I have a tinge of concern, that's all. Not really fair to compare Moncada to those three. Those players had the benefit of playing for three years in college before being drafted into a teams' minor league system. Three years of college baseball experience goes a long way in terms of development. Moncada's youth, raw untapped talent and high ceiling is what makes Moncada a potential monster. If Moncada takes another year or two to develop, look at the bright side. It means Moncada would be leading the next wave of hitters for callups. A wave of Moncada, Collins, Basabe, Fisher, Call etc would be pretty bad ass.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 11:27 AM) On top of that, he is a young 21 baseball wise. We all have seen how poor the coaching and instruction is going on in Cuba, so he also has a curve to make up for coming out of an environment where he wasn't getting optimal growth. Great point and totally agree. I think another thing that goes unnoticed is his maturity as a man. To sign a huge money contract at such a young age with so much raw untapped talent and no professional experience has got to be an incredible amount of pressure to which he has handled amazingly well. Dude is mature beyond his years. To me, his demeanor is more along the lines of Jose Abreu and that's a very good thing.
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 10:56 AM) Exactly, most 21 year olds would be striking out at a high rate facing much older and more developed competition Yep. I think some fans got caught up in the hype and forgot just how young and raw Moncada still is. Even if Moncada took two more years to fully develop in the minors before he became MLB ready, he would still be a mere 23 years old. A rebuilding team like the Sox have time on their side.
  6. QUOTE (Soha @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) I mean, Hahn does have an incentive to want to move Quintana now. I think there's a legit chance that keeping Q on the team until the all-star break or trading deadline will result in the Sox falling out of the Seth Beer sweepstakes. They have to decide is it worth it to squeeze every last bit out of a Q trade - even if it costs them dearly in the 2018 draft? It really depends if there are or have been any offers that are close, and we as fans have no way of knowing that answer. This all said, Q talking about being motivated to make a return trip to the all-star game, on top of his super pitching early on so far...it has me almost afraid of moving him. I could see him getting moved to the Yankees and winning 20 games this year. According to Hahn, he has not had any offers that were close. The '18 draft position is not as important as getting Max value for Q in a trade. Q is a pitcher that can only affect the outcome of 30-33 games per year and pitches for a team that is notorious for giving him no run support. Trading Q now will not result in too many more losses than trading him in June/July. Stay the course, remain patient and reap the rewards come June/July.
  7. Eh, no big surprise that Moncada needs more time. He's 21 and except for the brief call-up last September, he has not played above AA. He will be fine, just need to be patient with him.
  8. https://www.google.com/amp/yanksgoyard.com/...eepstakes-2/amp Lol, sure. That's why Hahn has went ahead and settled for less than he thinks Q is worth. Wait, he hasn't, so I guess the Sox are in a position of power. Man, that writer is delusional. Cracked me up so I had to share.
  9. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 12, 2017 -> 06:06 PM) A mass amount of injures to young players is the only reason to panic over anything relating to the White Sox in 2017. Agreed. If it's late in ST and expected opening day bullpen pitchers are blowing games, then I'd be concerned. Today was about two kids still learning and a vet coming back from surgery. s*** happens. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 12, 2017 -> 06:37 PM) Tyler Danish is terrible. That's all I really know. Not to sound like I've given up on Danish but I think this is the year he ends up moved to the pen. Might gain a tick or two on the FB as a reliever. Charlotte will have Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer and Beck to start the season. That leaves one spot open and imo it should go to Jordan Stephens, not Danish.
  10. Dumpster sucked as expected and gone already. 3-0 USA after 1.
  11. Good grief. Putnam is working his way back from surgery, Burdi is just 21 entering his first full season of pro ball and Danish is still a AAA pitcher. I don't see any reason to panic over the bullpen meltdown.
  12. Looking forward to a Dumpster fire. Team USA should/better win this game.
  13. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fanragspor...ven-higher/amp/ Keep driving that price up.
  14. Yeah, this isn't about being cheap, it's about being sensible. Alvarez is a DH, period. The Sox have plenty of those already. It really isn't a big deal that the Sox passed on a player with no position, for the second straight year went into ST unsigned and settled for a minor league contract. Good grief, people will use anything for an excuse to complain.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 09:56 PM) He wasn't referring to mention of being in on Q I know. The reason Baltimore wasn't in the discussion is because they don't have any effect on Q's market. I do agree that Baltimore will be tough and should be able to slug their way into WC contention.
  16. Sorry Nat's but I like what I've seen so far from Narvaez and Smith.
  17. Alvarez signed a minor league deal with Baltimore. 2M base with 3.5M worth in incentives.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) Poor Baltimore. Never get a mention. Of course not. They don't have the prospects for Q.
  19. Is this considered a strong draft year? Haven't paid too close attention so far. Looks like the Sox will have a few nice options to choose from.
  20. Stroman looking good and a 2-0 lead for team USA. Italy and Venezuela in a slobber knocker.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 05:01 PM) Exciting split squad action tomorrow. Kopech facing the Rangers at 2 on WGN. Change your clocks tonight. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 06:19 PM) Not expecting that to go well. Nah, it's not so bad. Just move the big hand one full turn around the clock, Uh, clockwise that is. Heard these instructions from Doc Brown himself.
  22. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) Hopefully Cashman moves now because I think Yankees and Rays are double digit back by the All Star break. Boston looks really loaded in all facets. I saw Panda last week and he looked blah but Holt looked really good. They have hitting pitching and defense. Maybe their pen will go south. Yeah, I don't see anyone hanging with Boston but NY and Tampa might be competitive enough to stay in the wild card race.
  23. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 09:41 AM) Modelos alone makes this one of the best moves the sox have made other than rebuilding. Yep. 1) Sale trade 2) Eaton trade 3) Miller trade ( for Modelo )
