  1. Man, that Rumbunter site is becoming unbearable to read over the last few days. The person posting for Rumbunter keeps pumping how good Glasnow is and how Sox fans should want him in a trade for Q but if he thinks that highly of Glasnow then why the hell is he so eager to trade the guy? The more I read at Rumbunter the more I hope another team comes in and nabs Q. One thing Rumbunter doesn't realise is that other teams have prospects that are just as good as anything the Pirates have to offer. Come Astros, Rockies, Yanks and cubs. Step in and make something happen.
  2. QUOTE (pablo @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 04:01 PM) I'm assuming you mean Demeritte's write-up? Also need to keep in mind that Demeritte's D is highly regarded. Fangraph's Longenhagen saw him in the AFL and had very good things to say. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs...tes-october-21/ Oh s***, nice catch Pablo. Yeah, I was referring to Demeritte, not sure wtf I was thinking. I like Demeritte's bat and would happily take him as a third or fourth piece.
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) So other than the fact he is hopeless at hitting a baseball sounds like a major leaguer...wait what After reading that bit by the scout, Acuna sounds like he could be a hitter like Dunn or Carter. Low BA, High K-rate and plenty of power. Now that I think about it, take away Acuna's walks and he looks alot like Tank on paper. I know Acuna has tons of helium but IMHO, he's only good enough to be a third piece in a deal for Q.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) Too bad they don't have it in a better format than that awful slideshow garbage. When I stumble across sites like that I hit the back button immediately. Not playing advert click games to boost the sites revenue stream.
  5. Thanks for posting this and especially for listing key prospects and their rankings. Sucks the articles are on a site like that though, I can't stand the sites that make you click page anfter page to get their advert hits. Thankfully the OP posted the important names and I didn't have to pay!At the ad clicky game. Interesting how Meadows and Glasnow exit the top ten. Looking forward to when MLB pipeline updates their top 100 and co made it to Fansided's list.
  6. QUOTE (pablo @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 12:20 PM) 1. Rockies 2. Astros 3. Pirates 4. Yankees I've been promoting a Yankees trade the last couple pages and Mateo/Rutherford are a nice combo to take the place of Torres or Frazier, but a better 3rd piece is needed like Sheffield/Kaprielian/Acevedo and I don't want to touch Judge quite frankly. I'd go with 1) Rockies 2) Yanks Pitt and Houston packages are lite for my taste.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) So confession time. Today is day 52 of my sobriety. Some random combination of an always-brewing controlled alcoholism plus lots of nights where wife and kid were in bed nice and early had me drinking like a mad man. I came to a point where it just had to stop yay those days ago, and needless to say life is pretty good. Anyone else out there ever struggle with booze? I just always wanted 10 after I had one and kept finding reasons to have that one which led to the 10 and so on. While I was a high-performing gentleman prior to quitting drinking, I think I'm only now starting to realize the very real benefits of not drinking the massive amount of booze I was consuming on a most-of-the-time nightly basis. I'm pretty stoked. Anyway, likely TMI for an internet message board, but y'all's my peeps! Congrats to you for taking it upon yourself to control the booze and not let it control you. I would imagine the wife must be happy about your accomplishment so far. Sounds like you've got it well under control Steve. I didn't really struggle with booze but did heavily binge drink on the weekends. So much to the point I wouldn't crave a beer all week until Friday came around and then it was on all weekend long. Lost my desire for that lifestyle when I got into my late 30's and the hangovers started lasting two days after I last drank. Getting lit on a Friday night would destroy my entire weekend and a few times I still didn't feel all that great for work on Monday. My wife laughs at me now because when we first met I was 35 and she would be amazed by how I could sit down with a case of beer or a bottle of Jameson and knock it back like nothing, but now I when I drink it's two or three beers/shots and that's good for me. Glad I slowed down when I did because I have wicked digestive issues and my doctor told me is likely from all the alcohol I consumed on the weekends for so many years. If only I had learned moderation sooner, lol.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 07:10 PM) Lol...sure, they are the same if you completely ignore their offensive abilities. Seriously right? The only thing they both have in common on offense is power and that's it. Bell crushes Tank in every other offensive category. It cracks me up when people say a 24 year old cannot learn the 1B position. If Abreu, Dunn and Thomas were capable of playing 1B I see no reason why Bell couldn't learn to in time.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 04:15 PM) Starling Marte contract is also great. Edit: you sure you didn't mean 7? He's signed for 7 more years. My bad, I didn't include the two option years at the end of the five year deal.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) He's signed for that long? Edit: Holy s***, just checked. Why did he do that to himself lol I mean, it's good to take the guaranteed money but he will be a free agent after his age 31 season. Yes sir. 2017 is the first year of the 5/35M extension he signed.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 03:51 PM) Where did you see this? And yeah he seems like he would be too far away too make an impact on any deal that could involve closer to ready MLB prospects from getting dealt. There's been sports writer's saying the Jays could be interested in Cutch but everything I've read is just speculation. Easy to see the speculation since the Pirates are known to be shopping Cutch and the Jays lost EE and Bautista to FA.
  12. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) Dbacks have young pitching, while technically not prospects anymore, Shipley, Walker, and Bradley all are still really good young arms with upside. The Dbacks have the (now) best pitching prospect in baseball in Reyes and enough depth behind him to get a deal done. A deal of Reyes, Weaver, Perez and Kelly would rival anything we have seen speculated from the Pirates. You mean the Cards, right?
  13. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) How do the cardinals or dbacks have the prospects?? The Cards do but once they take Reyes off the table, as they should, the trade becomes one of quantity. I agree on the DBacks, they have nothing of interest compared to teams already in on Q.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) I don't honestly care which position they put him at, I believe he's athletic enough to play both. However, if you want to get me annoyed and complaining, the way to do that is to change course midway. All that matters to me is the team picks the best position they think will work for him defensively and physically, puts him there, and starts coaching him there. No creative moving him around, no brilliant ideas about him being a super utility guy, no comparisons to Baez, just put him at a position and find someone to tell him how to put his feet and read balls off the bat. Same here, not interested in watching Moncada getting moved around like Alexei was. Sounds as though the Sox are going to utilize Moncada at second which sounds good since he said he is more comfortable there.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) I live in Chicago. It's winter. I like Coats. Sue me. Does that make you a boy named Sue?
  16. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 10:36 AM) I don't understand why his offensive value drops down in CF. I don't get it either man. Unless there's a plan to trade Moncada, his offensive value in relation to his position is irrelevant since he's staying with the Sox long term. Where he plays is not as important as how well he plays the position.
  17. You should all be found guilty in the court of tomf***ery for hero worshipping false Idols like Coats. Fools, all of you!
  18. Thanks for posting the links for Braves prospects. Looks like Acuna's stock has risen quite a bit so I'm curious how much that additional value affects trade talks in a potential deal for Q. Acuna is a nice bat but I'm really intrigued by Austin Riley. Wonder if Albie's/Newcomb/Acuna/Riley is too much to ask.
  19. Jimmy and Oklahoma braves, thanks for sharing your info. I wasn't wild about the idea of trading with Atlanta in the beginning but they have some very interesting prospects and if they are willing to offer Albie's and Newcomb as headliners, I'm interested. I absolutely love Albie's and he's probably the one SS mentioned in the rumors that I feel could push Anderson off the SS position, not that I have a problem TA, kids been fine by me. How close would Albie's/Newcomb/Soroka/Riley be?
  20. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 04:53 PM) My second proposal was Meadows + Glasnow + Newman + one of the listed players to round out the package Fowler, to me, looks like his ceiling will be a 4th outfielder at the mlb level, possibly a below average regular? He is solid defensively, but I am not sold on the bat or power at all OK, I follow you. That proposal makes sense as long as Huntington is willing to part with Meadows. The fact that the Pirates are still in negotiations after all this time gives me some hope that one of Meadows or Bell is on the table. I like what Pitt has to offer if the package is headlined by Meadows or even Bell but if they are off the table then it's time to move on.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) I would reject the Mateo/Rutherford/Andujar/Fowler offer you proposed Mateo's stock has slipped after a relatively disappointing 2016. He is not good enough to headline a Q deal by a longshot. Rutherford is a quality third piece, but he is at least 3 full seasons away from the majors...lots of risk in the Sox system not known for developing hitters There is a big drop off in talent down to Andujar and Fowler Give me Meadows + Glasnow + Bell and The Pirates can have Quintana. If Bell is a dealbreaker then Newman + Sox pick of Diaz/Hayes/Tucker/Craig/Hearn/Holmes/Garcia/Etc You're concerned about the Sox ability to develop a hitter like Rutherford but trust in them to develop the likes of Newman, Craig, Tucker, Hayes, etc? If anything, a talent like Rutherford would be easier for the Sox to develop than the Pirates hitters mentioned. Meadows/Glasnow/Bell isn't happening and your second proposal headlined by Newman is worse than what the Yanks have to offer. I wouldn't say Mateo's stock dropped considering he was just 20/21 years of age during his first full season at high A ball. That's still a bit young and he probably hit well enough to begin at AA this year. He's got the arm, glove and blazing speed, none of which Newman can offer. Andujar was very young (21) in his first jump to AA last season so I think he's still below the radar as a propsect but looks to have a cannon for 3B, nice k/BB rates and there's still power projected in his bat. Fowler I think is even more under-rated as he was 21 years old at AA and put up some impressive numbers. Going by Fowler's scouting reports and last year's stats, dude reminds me alot of a young Brett Gardner. Not as good as Gardner at walks but has a stronger arm.
  22. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) Q makes too much sense to the Yankees to not happen, IMO. The issue is that everyone is too focused on 2017, but after Tanaka/Sabathia/Pineda? are gone, the Yankees have an extremely thin roster. Cashman might want to see how 2017 plays out to see how close they are. If their young regulars start producing & they look like a 87-89 win type team, how do you not go after someone like Q? If you can look past 2017, its too perfect of a match. I agree with the Yankees but I think it's more Hahn than the Yanks. IMHO, even if the Yanks take Frazier, Judge and Torres off the table they still Mateo, Rutherford, Andujar and Fowler as hitters to offer in a trade. Heck, I would take those four in a deal for Q. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) I'd pass on that offer We need to get at least one quality pitching prospect in return for Q If the Sox were that high on Lewis they would have taken him over Collins, plus he is now coming off injury I'd still waiting for the Meadows/Glasnow/Bell deal I agree with the saying that a team can never have enough pitching but in this case I would prefer to see the Sox focus on getting hitters if possible. The Eaton trade kinda threw off the balance a bit by getting three pitchers in return for one hitter. I would be fine if the Q trade didn't involve any pitching at all. The Sox took Collins ecause he's a catcher with power and OBP potential. As for Lewsi' injury, no biggie since he's a few years away and the Sox are rebuilding so they have plenty of time for a kid like Lewis. If the Pirates traded Bell, Glasnow, Meadows for Q, it would not only shock the baseball world but also bring about the apocalypse.
  23. In loving memory of Jason Coats. RIP buddy.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) The top three in that group would have my attention for sure. Lewis/O'Neill/Vogelbach all three look like professional hitters, each with plus power. I'm pretty high on those three myself and would take those three over any three hitting prospects from Pitt not name Bell or Meadows. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 11, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) They just got drew smyly. Ha ha, I posted too soon. Nice move for Seattle, Smyly should enjoy pitching in that spacious park.
