  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) If Dodgers have given up on Puig the Mccutchen makes sense. Their OF is fine. Even then it still makes no sense. They have too many outfielders as is and still have Verdugo and Bellinger on the way from the minors. Plus, McCuthen's defense would be horrible in spacious Dodger Stadium. I think there's a better chance of the Dodgers trading for Q than Cutch.
  2. First time I've seen names from the Yanks in talks for Q. https://elitesportsny.com/2016/12/30/despit...must-stick-plan
  3. Why would the Dodgers want McCutchen? Rogers is really reaching with that one. I think the biggest problem with the trade market is the abundance of teams rebuilding plus fringe teams that seem to be standing pat. There's not as many teams interested in players like Blackmon, McCutchen, Todd Frazier and so on.
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 30, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) It's a clear fit, except that I wonder if Q's FB% isn't a little high for their needs, considering their park. It would be a perfect fit. I could be wrong but from what I understand breaking pitches do not break as much at Coors so a Fasball complimented by a good change would be work well. Q's curve could still be used just not as often.
  5. Reading this got me thinking that if Hahn holds out long enough we could see the Rockies legitimately jump into the mix for Q once they trade an outfielder. Sounds alot like Pitt. If the Rockies can find a trade for Blackmon, it would ease the hit their farm would take in a trade for Q. Patience. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/whos...p;post-id=81569
  6. Man, the hot stove is a freezer right now. Maybe things pick up next week after the new year.
  7. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) Someone on twitter suggested the Mariners as the 3rd team. Mariners get McCutchen. Pirates get Quintana White Sox get Glasnow (MLB Pipeline #8), Lewis (MLB Pipeline #28), O'Neil (MLB Pipeline #60) This would rival the Eaton and Sale returns as far as MLB Pipeline rankings. Sounds like Seattle would be giving up alot for Cutch who's defensive decline would be even more exposed at Safeco. If Seattle is going to give up that much they should add a bit more and go for Blackmon, not Cutch. Cutch would be bad at Safeco. I could see Seattle being interested in Cole although that doesn't help Pitt with shedding Cutch's salary. I'm getting to the point where if Pitt won't offer up one of Meadows or Bell as the headliner then they can piss off. I like Glasnow's upside but after thinking more about it, nope, it's Meadows, Bell or find another dance partner. If Pitt wants to add Glasnow to Meadows or Bell then that's fine.
  8. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 08:12 AM) I actually think he is set on testing the free agent market, unless the Cubs end up being one of the highest bidders. I have the idea of shelling out a huge contract to a pitcher on the wrong side of 30. Paying $75 million plus to three players is not ideal. Well, Arietta's agent is Boras so it's possible he does go to FA and should to maximise his next contract. Funny thing about the cubs is they only have Hendricks and Lester signed beyond '17 so a pitcher like Q should be high on their priority list, not a few prospects they won't have room for anyway. Imo, the writer is very short sighted and not looking at the bigger picture. Oh well, the Sox have the luxury of waiting this out to get the right offer. If it turns out the cubs aren't interested in Q, no problem and good luck with Ross.
  9. I understand the value of prospects is high but this is a hilarious take on why the cubs should not trade for Q. Odd point of view considering Lackey could retire after '17 and Arietta a FA after '17 though I'd expect the cubs to extend him. But hey, if the writer thinks Ross can help lead them to the promised land then so be it. Funny thing is that of the prospects the Sox would likely want back, Jimenez is the only one the cubs would have room for down the road. Happ is a 2B blocked by Zobrist and Baez and Candelario is blocked by Bryant. Oh well, was a fun read while I wait for my coffee to kick in. http://cubbiescrib.com/2016/12/28/chicago-...te-sox-quintana
  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:00 PM) this is why they should hold on to him for the deadline, when injuries can happen. He can be a decent replacement at 3B,1B or DH. I think that's the best we can hope for at this point. If we can somehow get lucky and Frazier gets off to a good start an eager team might go after him in June.
  11. Alright Sox fans let's pick up the pace. This trade won't happen til 403 hits so 100 to go. Hurry, spam if you must! Ahhhhhh.... I think Seattle may have been mentioned pages ago but am I crazy for thinking Lewis, O'Neil, Neidert and Vogelbach would be a decent return? Eh, maybe I've spent too much time thinking about this s***.
  12. QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Well this thread is officially the worst... Just wait until late tonight when SoxTalk coast to coast am gets started with the conspiracy nutter power hour. Tonight's topic: the White Sox are NOT rebuilding; part deux. Special guests include David icke and Carl Everette.
  13. Definitely see a fit with Rasmus and the Sox. Rasmus could be enticed by the smaller dimensions on the South side which could help boost the value of his bat and glove.
  14. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) You haven't factored the Cubs tax in. I don't know how much more could be reasonably expected. #21 Happ, #23 Jimenez, #99 Candelario is a pretty fair amount to ask for, though I'd like to see a + added to that. Maybe Caratini could be the +.
  15. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) Consider me in that group. LOL The title of this thread made me laugh at loud at my computer. No, it's begun already!
  16. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/should-...rts-CQ-RSS-Feed One correction, Q is left handed. Anyway. One of Happ/Baez and Jimenez is a good place to start. Happ, Jimenez, Candelario + would work for me.
  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) What a horrible time to be an Angels fan outside of Trout That team's future is seriously in question. Right now they are on track for a rough next 5 years Ouch, they are in bad shape. They have 120M in guaranteed salary for only 12 players next year. One of those players is Josh Hamilton whom they are paying 26M to play for the Rangers. That team is so backasswards right now. They won't have a choice but to try and spend on free agency to stay relevant in that division. Hamilton's 26M is off the books after '17 so look for them to go on a spending spree next winter. They really have no choice.
  18. Anyone think it's possible the hold up could be due to the amount of moving pieces in a three way? I'm starting to wonder if the talks are about more than just Q leaving the Sox. Might be something like the Pirates want Q and the Yanks are looking at Rodon who's young, under team control for 5 more years and the Yanks have always had good relations with Boras. Might sound crazy but I think the Yanks would be more willing to trade certain prospects (Torres, Frazier) if Rodon's name was on the table.
  19. Oof! That Angels farm is bad. They have a few prospects I'd consider trading Avi for.
  20. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) I'm talking about playoffs dude. Yeah, thats why you mentioned the Red Sox? Not like they play in the same league or anything. NASCAR circles.... Please enlighten us with all the moves the Nats, Dodgers and Cards have made that will not only catch the cubs but surpass them.
  21. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/deck-th...x-prospect-list Sounds like a rebuilding team to me.
  22. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 10:23 PM) so you counting st louis cardinals out and dodgers and red sox and mets and nationals Really? The Dodgers play in the NLW, the Mets and Nats in the NLE and the red Sox in the ALE so the only team the cubs have to worry about is the Cards who finished in 2nd 17.5 games back of the cubs. What should the cubs be worried about? More importantly, wtf do the cubs have to do with the Sox trading Q and the rebuild? Thread derailment over, I now return you to your regularly scheduled White Sox rebuild.
