  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) And if they make a trade and the people b****ing feel like they didn't get enough, well, I think you already know. It's a great time to be alive if you're a Sox fan. Let the Cubs do their thing next year and in '18. Come '19? Good lord it is so on. Exactly. I'm excited about the talent the Sox have brought back so far and really looking forward to seeing what Q brings back. Hopefully at least two top 100 hitting prospects I can't help but laugh when people question the rebuild when were not even two months into it. As others keep saying, PATIENCE!
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:26 PM) I think a Truther site is missing its mascot. Thats right because we don't have time for a flat earth society meeting.
  3. Good grief, what is with people and their obsession with instant self gratification? No team trades it's ace pitcher and best hitter in an effort to compete the following season. Just because Q hasn't been traded yet does not mean he won't and there are more than enough rumors circulating to show the Sox are indeed engaged with teams about Q. Relax and try to hold your load for just a few moments longer before you spew.
  4. RIP Carrie. She really cracked me up in the movies Loverboy, Blues Brothers and The 'Burbs. Definitely going to miss her.
  5. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 04:15 PM) Yep, sometimes these baseball rumors feel like we're riding a bicycle around a NASCAR track.
  6. http://web.yesnetwork.com/news/article.jsp...;vkey=news_milb http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/why-a-j...-yankees-122716 No shortage of conflicting reports in regards to the Yanks level of interest in Q.
  7. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) This likely means offers on the table from the Yankees and Pirates (or whoever else) exceeded what the Astros are willing to part with. So in a way, good news! Though I don't believe the Astros are truly out of it until Q is traded elsewhere. Yeah, I agree it looks as though both the Yanks and Pirates have made offers that are intriguing enough for talks to continue progressing. Man, would I like know the actual names being discussed. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) My theory is in Levines extensive research he used an older NYY prospects list. You know, that makes a ton of sense. Maybe the 2015 MLB pipeline? QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) That really isn't surprising at all. No not all. Once Houston heard the Sox asking price they turned their attention to Duffy and Ventura.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) Kinda random names to throw around. Yeah, I don't agree with Levine's wording there but I'm not trying to be too particular. I would think names like Frazier, Torres and Rutherford are " top priorities " and where discussions begin. I would think at least one of those three would be a headliner.
  9. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/jose-qu...rts-CQ-RSS-Feed I think we all kind of figured Houston was out after they backed down during the winter meetings.
  10. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/12/27/lev...-jose-quintana/ Take it for what it's worth.
  11. So, about that pitcher, Jose Quintana. Anyone heard rumors that the Sox might be could be willing to trade him? Supposedly there's even rumors of teams being interested in trading for him! This is some crazy Dennis Hopper type stuff, man.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) Crazy, messageboard GM proposal Quintana + Frazier + Robertson and cash for Headley, Torres, Rutherford, Sheffield, Tate, Judge, Andujar and McKinney Substitute Fowler for McKinney and I'd do it. Doubt the Yanks would though. The Yanks of old under good old George would be all over that deal though.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) You and I both well know he's a name the Sox want. Ruth and Ray were high on the draft board. Oh yeah, I remember those names well. Would be awesome to get Rutherford in a trade after passing on him to take Collins. Watching both of them mash their way through the minors would be fun to keep track of. If it meant getting Rutherford, I'd have no problem with Frazier or Torres not being apart of the trade. I would be happy as hell with Rutherford, Mateo, Andujar, Fowler.
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) He's taking a break for a little bit, assuming he's on vacation or something. I miss the lil guy, he cracks me up. His absence could have something to do with Hanukkah.
  15. Im already starting to feel sorry for Pirates fans because the Yanks getting involved for Q makes much more sense than a three way with Pitt for Cutch. The Yanks as well as other teams know they won't be able to get a pitcher like Q for his contract on the FA market next year. The latest news makes the situation sound like Pitt brought the Yanks into discussions as a three way and now the Yanks have tossed their hat into discussions for Q and creating a bidding way between the two with Houston and Texas possibly keeping tabs on the fringe. If the Sox and Yanks make a trade please let Rutherford be part of the mix.
  16. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) Yankees are obviously clearing money to go hog wild next two offseasons so they have their own motivations. That's fine but their motivations need to coincide with that of the Sox or discussions come to a screeching halt. The Yanks want to add Headley or Gardner to the trade to lessen how much they give up in prospects which sure as hell does not fit what the Sox are doing. If the Yanks want to talk about swapping Headley or Gardner for Robertson or Frazier then that makes sense but by no means should Headley or Gardner be involved in a direct trade for Q.
  17. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) Gardner and Headley are not negative value pieces and may actually give the Sox a couple guys to flip at the deadline. And really I'm not on board with the idea of breaking loss records, having a watchable MLB team would be nice. If it's true Headley and Gardner do not have negative value then the Yanks adding them to the trade lessens the overall prospect return for the Sox. No thank you. Taking Headley or Gardner back in a trade should only be done if it enhances the prospect return somehow.
  18. Trade needs to happen before this thread disintegrates any further. It's difficult to say the Sox should ask for more or less without knowing exactly what the offers are. All we have to go on is that the Sale and Eaton packages were headlined by two top 50 prospects and there's no reason to think a return for Q won't be the same.
  19. Pirate fans still seem willing to part with quality prospects to get Q. At least they have a grasp on Q's value. http://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/perrotto-p...-jose-quintana/ http://piratesbreakdown.com/2016/12/26/pit...ck-to-business/
  20. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) Don't understand the love for this guy around here. If he can't maintain a .700 OPS in the minors what do you think he's going to do with extended MLB time? At best he's a backup and I really hope we're targeting something with higher potential than that. Just showing you why some of us really like the kid. Let's face it, there's just not enough offensive catchers to go around. Either they don't have the arm, the defense or their bat I so good they are moved to 1B to save their knees. Need to clone Buster Posey. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=was
  21. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) BTW, had we signed Cespedes, no rebuild, more mired in mediocrity. Absolutely agree. I was one of very few that really didn't want the Sox to cough up the money for Cespedes. That Cespedes thread showed me that I should take rumors with a grain of salt regardless of their source. Nothing wrong with indulging in conversation about the rumor but also keep in mind that it's just a rumor.
  22. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 01:08 PM) I agree, although I do think it would be better for the Sox if Q is dealt now as opposed to later in the season. Not that I want them to force the issue and move him just to move him, but it puts the team in a better direction. I get the impression that it was leaked to get another team to move in on Q in fear of losing out on him. Yeah, not sure what the point of the leak was unless the market for Q was cold due to the asking price. The way I see it is if Hahn trades Q now then the Sox got what they were looking for but if they don't trade Q then I'll take it that nobody was offering enough for Q. I do think Q will be traded but if he isn't I'll understand why. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 01:57 PM) [/b] Will that entail a brand new thread next July, or a continuation of this one? Oh we have to keep this one going to hopefully eclipse the Cespedes thread from last year.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) That article showed quite a shallow understanding of everything going on. I think it shows more understanding of what's going on. Look at the buzz that began after one tweet from Olney on the 21st that mentions the Pirates being interested in Q. That's not to say the Pirates aren't interested in Q or that Olney was wrong in his tweet, just that maybe we shouldnt put too much stock into what we read on the internet. Rumors are fun but they are rumors afterall. I also agree with waiting to deal Q until July IF Hahn is not getting his asking price now.
  24. Some reading material offering a different point of view. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/white-s...rts-CQ-RSS-Feed
  25. Unless a team comes out of nowhere to offer up a bounty for Robertson, I think the plan is to hope he put he's well and then deal him for a haul in July. Same goes for Jones. If those two stay healthy and pitch well, they should fetch some very nice returns in July. That said, if the Mets offered Nimmo for Robertson I'd jump all over it.
