  1. CWSpalehoseCWS, thanks for summarizing the Hahn interview. Should be interesting to see how things go during the next four weeks or so.
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/trad...p;post-id=80312 Can only help the Sox in negotiations for Q.
  3. Just make Blackmon part of the package and the Sox will include... JAMES. SHIELDS!
  4. I serious think Jimmy Rollins deserves some credit for helping Anderson with his defense. From what I recall Anderson said he had learned alot from Rollins, especially footwork.
  5. Wouldn't be surprised if Hahn is telling teams they are counting on Q to head the rotation during the rebuild so it will cost to pry Q away from the Sox. This is of course true but it adds value to Q in the eyes of the Sox so if a team really wants Q they just might have to over-pay. It's not like it will suck having Q as the #1 for the '17 season. If a team wants to pay the Sox value or more then great but I have no problem holding onto Q for another year.
  6. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 11:53 PM) What the f*** is up with this millennial new age term: "bae"? It's the Dutch word for poop. True story, I kid you not. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bae Yep, pretty f***in stupid. Steering this away from stupid pet names and back to baseball. After the week of winter meetings, maybe things pick back on Monday after teams' front offices have had a chance to catch their breath.
  7. Iirc, similar things were said about Alexei and he turned out just fine. Heck, Alexei even learned how to draw more walks. The Sox are rebuilding, Anderson is just 23 years old and I see nothing to be worried about at this point.
  8. After thinking more about it, I really like the Rockies offer based on Rogers headlining the package. That package is a more reasonable offer than the one proposed about Pitt. A future indie!d of Moncada, Anderson and Rogers sounds good to me.
  9. I'm with you guys, get Jansen signed already. Sounds as though there could be enough interest in Robertson though I dont expect the moon in return. Still think someone meets Hahn half way to get a deal done for Q. Teams know there isn't much out there.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) Saw someone on Twitter saying that Buster Olney said that he could see the Rockies offer Rodgers/Tapia/Pint for Q and the Pirates offer Glasnow/Meadows/Bell or Newman. I'd take either.... If Hahn could pull off Glasnow/Meadows/Bell I would literally s*** myself. That would be a haul! I hope Buster's vision is good.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 07:36 AM) Call me crazy but isn't this year about being absolutely f***ing terrible and finishing with the 1st pick? I'd rather see none of those guys. At worst, maybe for the last month of the year. Player development is more important than the first pick. If any of these guys appear MLB ready then by all means they should be up. It's going to take time for these guys to become ready and then it's going to take time for them to acclimate to the majors. I'm not saying speed up their timelines, just don't inhibit them in an effort to draft one player with the highest pick. The development of many far out ways the drafting of just one player. I hold alot of value in that first pick but still not as important as developing what is already in the farm. Losing games is a part of rebuilding with youth so the Sox are likely to have a high draft pick in '18 anyway.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 07:39 AM) What came out of it? Bulls***.
  13. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 05:46 AM) If we've learned anything from Cashman over the years, it's that he HATES playing 2nd fiddle to the Red Sox in the AL East. The Holiday & Chapman signings tell me that they definitely do NOT intend on rebuilding. They do have a stock pile of really nice prospects-- thanks to in part of the Chapman and Miller deals. With that said, I'm sure Hahn would LOVE to get his hands on Clint Frazier, Gleybor Torres AND Gary Sanchez. If the Yankees really want Quintana back, they better pony up. Hell, i'm sure Hahn would even throw David Robertson into the package. With the Astros seemingly holding onto their prospects like a creepy crazy cat woman hoarding wild felines, I expect the Yankees coming out of the woodwork for Q and this would be a tremendous scenario for the White Sox' system. I like your thinking here. My only hangup is with Sanchez being just 24 years old hitting 20HR in 229PA from the Catcher position in '16, the Yanks will put a high value on Sanchez which they should. If the Sox could get say, Sanchez/Frazier and one of Kaprielian or Clarkin, I would be pretty damn happy about that.
  14. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 07:19 AM) It has to be Houston. What other options do they have? I can see the Yankees taking a pass for now since their window will be in 2 years. Houston has to make a move now since their pitching is mediocre. Houston could go after Archer but I think the Rays (like the Sox) are in the driver's seat and will want a haul for him, though less than what Q would require. Imho, Houston is waiting it out hoping Hahn drops the price, which is not going to happen. I do think Houston can get a trade done without Bregman but Hahn is smart in holding out to see if Houston eventually caves in. Also, let's not forget the Rockies. The moves they have made show they want to compete in that division and have the bats to entice the Sox in a trade. Colorado has too many bats and not enough pitching so on paper they seem like a good fit for a trade partner.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 07:21 AM) They have a pretty damn good infield no with Segura, Seager and Cano. And they have pushed the let's do it button several times to compete with Felix No doubt about it. Props to you for bringing up Seattle. Had not seen them mentioned anywhere on this board or the internet for that matter. Looking at their prospects now and they have some very interesting bats, starting with Vogelbach and Lewis. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=sea If nothing else, at least it's another team to ponder over while we wait for the next trade to drop.
  16. As we found out during the '14/'15 off season, the only wins that matter are the ones on the field. That said, it's obvious that what the Sox were doing wasn't working so there was no choice but to try something different. We all know the definition of insanity.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 06:56 AM) Also let's not be naive, I'm sure a lot of teams want Q at their own price. But at the price Hahn has set only a few teams have pieces and team set up to try: Yanks Astros Dodgers (unlikely) Rangers Rockies Braves (unlikely) There are some other teams like PIT or Seattle I think could pull it off and it make sense for their team. But they have not been rumored at all. No doubt there's 29 teams that would love to have Q but as you said, how many have the talent and willingness to part with the talent? Seattle could be the dark horse. They have the prospects but do they feel they can compete with the Rangers and Astros in '17 to justify giving up a haul for Q? Then again, the moves already made by the Texas teams may force Seattle to get in on the bidding to at least look like they are trying to compete in '17. Good call on Seattle. Hadn't given them much thought. Would love to grab Vogelbach out of Seattle.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 06:33 AM) The Braves aren't interested in Quintana? Pirates? Rangers? Wasn't there a rumor more teams would consider Q than Sale? With the Braves signining two geriatric's to one year deals and trading for Garcia who has one year left, the Braves are buying time for their young pitchers to become MLB ready. Those signings and trade are not indicative of a team that's expected to compete. Just a guess but I think the Braves were pushing the cost up on their division rival, the Nat's. Are the Pirates the kind of team that would give up a haul to acquire Q? I could be wrong but I highly doubt it. The Rangers have already they won't give up the talent that they gave up to get Hamels. Hence the Cashner signing. I could see the Rangers showing interest in an effort to drive up the price on the Astros. Yep, there was a rumor a few days ago that Hahn was getting more calls about Q than Sale. That could have changed when teams heard Hahn's asking price for Q. In the end, someone will bite and make the trade happen. Imho, it comes down to the Astros, Yanks and Rockies.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 05:51 AM) If Lunhow doesn't want to take on any pain for his package for Q, he can sign Derek Holland. So what you're saying is that the Sox MUST sign Holland in order for Houston to trade for Q. Glad youre on board with the idea DA. Hahn has the right idea for Q. I could be wrong but I haven't seen any pitchers of Q's caliper available via trade and we all know the FA pitching is very thin. Knowing this, Hahn will continue to wait it out and imo, it won't take long for one of Houston, Colorado or NYY to cave in and get a deal done. Good thing is that Hahn has most likely laid a ton of groundwork for future trades over the next six months to a year.
  20. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:00 PM) Cubs fans are so salty right now You are not kidding. Some of those comments are hilarious. Pissed about Fowler leaving for the $. Wtf did Heyward do last year? I can't stop laughing. Even after FINALLY winning the WS, they still play the role of the victim. Hysterical!
  21. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) If Houston finds the asking price for Q too big... ... there are alternatives available. Cue hi8is in 3... 2... 1...
  22. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) I would. There will be people who feel we didn't get enough back...but if you get a return of 3 prospects...and 2 of them turn out to be crap...what's the point?!? Q definitely has great value...but what good does that do the Sox right now? If you get an almost sure thing (IMO) in Bregman...and you'll have him under control...seems to me having him playing 140+ games over 35 starts equates to better value IMO. I'd do it...but if it would make people feel better have Houston throw in a B prospect for cosmetic purposes. But overall I'll take the almost sure thing in Bregman instead of 2 or 3 "what ifs"... You bring up points that were bouncing around my head which led me to post the question. We are definitely thinking along the same lines. The idea of adding Bregman to play along side Anderson and Moncada is just so tantalizing. It's a fun thought but I don't expect the Astros to trade Bregman and if I were in their shoes I wouldn't trade him either. So, have the Rockies come calling yet?
  23. Thank you all for your replies. I can argue points for and against the trade proposal. I see it this way. Before the Sale and Eaton trades I would have said hell no to a Q for Bregman deal but since Sale and Eaton brought back so much talent to a help restock the farm I lean towards going for it.

  25. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 05:32 PM) Of course but guys lets be real Bregman isn't being trade for Q or anybody else. Don't get me wrong, I really don't think Houston will trade Bregman. Just a hypothetical question.
