  1. Just part of the ups and downs a young team goes through. We're going to see more of it in 2019 as wel but it won't mean the tank is on.
  2. Just because Kopech is out doesn't mean the tank is back on. The Sox were playing good ball before the call-up and in games Kopech didn't pitch.
  3. Really good take on Burger, Kwill. Sadly that is the reality of it. I know Yolmer is lite on hitting for a third baseman but the Burger injury makes me appreciate Yolmer that much more. At this point I think it's likely we see Moncada move to third with Madrigal becoming the second baseman before we see Burger in a Sox uni.
  4. The same can be said about all the big free agents. Let's face it, with the Sox still rebuilding they aren't the most enticing team to sign a contract with so they will have to pay regardless.
  5. Agree on Corbin but Arenado won't be a FA until after the 2019 season ends.
  6. Patrick Corbin would be first on my list of free agents.
  7. I totally agree with you. Would rather keep Rodon for at least the 2019 season and see how the young minor league pitching has progressed at the end of 2019. I would to try and sign a pitcher like Patrick Corbin to help solidify the rotation and hope one of Covey, Guerrero, Stephens, Adams can become a decent fifth starter.
  8. The Sox will have one hole in the rotation once they buy out Shields and now the idea is to create another hole by trading Rodon? Then spend all of 2019 complaining about how the rotation sucks? Yep, par for the course I guess.
  9. So it's the fault of the front office because Kopech didn't say anything about the discomfort in his elbow and tried to pitch through it? Lol, okay.
  10. Thank you! So let him pitch in Charlotte for April and May to get a rhythm going then call him up in June if he looks ready.
  11. I think we can add Collins to the mix of call-ups next year. Probably not until July or August but something to look forward to.
  12. I don't have the answers but I would like to know as well. I read the first page of the Kopech thread and skipped to the last page after reading the initial knee jerk reactions.
  13. No doubt this sucks. Wish him well in his recovery and look forward to seeing him in 2020. Not going to get down about this because these things happen and there's still plenty to be excited about White Sox baseball.
  14. I have that logo on my key chain so I'm guilty of loving it as well.
  15. How is this Cooper's fault? The weather, the velocity drop and missed locations clearly make this KW's fault. My gawd Sox fans how can you not see this?
  16. Thanks for this write-up I really enjoyed it. He's a very likeable character. What impresses me most about his promotion is how most of his stats improved when he got to Charlotte. Also, he quietly pitched 159 innings this year between Birmingham and Charlotte. Spencer had a solid year.
  17. This made me laugh, well played Todd. Not that I condone cheating but some of the things ball players do makes me laugh. This is one of my all time favorites...
  18. Kopech gave up a HR ... told y'all he was a reliever.
  19. And then twist the nut cracker! The nut felt like it was on fire and the pain shot up into my lower abdomen. Would get cold sweats from the pain too.
  20. Absolutely! Signing one of those two hitters kinda makes it necessary to fill the void left by Shields with a proven starter so go for broke. Now that I think about it, depending on the length of contract he's looking for, I would be fine with going after Corbin regardless if the Sox look to compete next year. Have a feeling he's probably going to look for 6+ year deal and I'm not sure I'd go that far out for him, but I'd do 5 guaranteed. I'd like to see the rosters expand to 26 or even 27 players to allow for a few extra pitchers. The 162 game season is hell on players and especially pitchers so expanding the roster would help teams alot. Especially playoff bound teams.
  21. OK, I have a better idea of where you're coming from now. It's tantalizing to think about. Especially with Cleveland set to lose a few key players to free agency this winter if they don't re-sign them. I think Cleveland has one more year atop the ALC and after that the Sox will be taking over. The Royals and Tigers will still be rebuilding, the Twins in limbo and with Cleveland's aging pitching I suspect they will be declining. In 2020 the Sox should begin to own the ALC for years to come. If the Sox happen to be lucky enough to land Harper or Machado then I would agree and not stop there. Patrick Corbin would be next on my list.
  22. Seeing some pitches squared up well of off Vieria.
  23. One of their best songs! Never break the chain!
  24. As I said in previous posts, I think the Sox will make offers, as they should, but I don't think the Sox will land Harper or Machado. It's easy to say offer them the most money but there will be contending teams with plenty of money to offer those guys. Contenders such as the Phillies and Braves both have the money to spend and payroll space to land Harper and Machado. Honestly, I don't think the Sox have a snowballs chance in hell. As for the starting pitching. I actually hope the Sox aren't a playoff team next year so the Sox don't have to stress the young pitchers with more playoff innings. If they stay healthy they will accumulate enough innings during the regular season. Not interested in doing to them what happened to Strasburg and Harvey. IMHO, it's a year too soon.
