  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) Lets say the Sox sign Upton and put him in RF. They can't move LaRoach or Avi. Who would you rather see DH? Am I crazy to give Garcia most of the AB's at DH? Use LaRoche against tough right handed that maybe Avi has had troubles with and Avi for the balance and left handed.
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Well the O's very well could be out on the big FA OFs. They just signed Kim I doubt it to be honest. Kim's contract is cheap plus Kim can play not LF and 1B so the O's still have a hole to fill either way. If they intend on using Kim at 1B it probably means the O's are even more "in" for one of the FA outfielders. Imo, I think they go after Gordon's left handed bat.
  3. I think there's a few things to consider in reference to signing one of the big FA outfielders. The upgrades of Avila and Navarro at Catcher and then the trade for upgrades at 3B/2B with Frazier/ Lawrie show those free agents the Sox are serious about contending in '16. Should be much more enticing than where the Sox were just a few weeks ago.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) The only reason why I don't like this forum is because people b**** and moan about literally EVERYTHING!!! Can we let the season happen first and then come to a conclusion? Please? Amen. The gloom and doom still lurks despite upgrades at C, 3B and 2B. Hell, the off season isn't even finished yet.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) Shocker, Greg thinks trading fringe big league players is overpaying. Yep. And just two nights ago he proposed trading Rodon for Frazier.
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) That's one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is the current value of all those involved. The results-oriented view can be flawed. If the Angels traded Mike Trout tomorrow for some guy drafted in the 37th round, and Trout became crippled in a freak accident the next day, while the 37th rounder became a HOF, that was still a stupid trade. Lol, riiiiiiiight.
  7. With so many prospects involved there is no way to determine a winner in the trade until the prospects have had time to show what they can or cannot do. However, the Sox got their guy so that is an overall win for the team.
  8. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) They tried to get rid of LaRoche and couldn't. This. ^ Nobody is going to trade for a defensive 1B with no power and will make 13M next off season. Not sure why this concept is so difficult to understand.
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Its unbelievable really. And this is coming from someone who loves Trayce and wasn't the biggest Frazier fan because of our already lack of OBP on this team. But his defense and power help immensely on this team. He can regress in both categories and will STILL be better than the crap we've been trotting out at 3B since Beckham's rookie season. Hell even streamer jas him regressing to a 3 WAR player. I'll take that and run every time. Exactly. I would rather focus on the positive aspects of the upgrade instead of nit-picking the potential negatives and bringing down the thread. Like you I preferred more OBP but I also wanted better defense and power, both of which Frazier accomplishes. I'll miss Thompson and Montas potential upsides but I won't miss Gillaspie, Beckham and Olt.
  10. The amount of negativity surprises even me and I was pretty much against the idea of Frazier. That said, I'm not going to complain about the increased power and defense at 3B or the package it took for those increases. Welcome to the South Side Todd Frazier-.
  11. I prefer a left handed power bat but that would require another trade and I doubt that happens. I can see the pros and cons for both Upton and Cespedes but if I must choose one I'll take Cespedes along with three picks in the first two rounds of June's draft.
  12. Frazier 3B, Saladino SS, Lawrie 2B. Going here alot of " strong arm " comments from Hawk because those are three pretty strong arms that will be throwing over to first. Gonna miss Thompson and Montas but the SOX surely needed to upgrade 3B defensively and get a middle of the order bat. Hope Frazier can fulfill the expectations. Hopefully the Sox can find a left handed bat for the outfield, preferably one that can play defense. I wonder what Blackmon would cost.
  13. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Jim Bowden ‏@JimBowden_ESPN 36s36 seconds ago Frankie Montas best prospect moved in three way deal.and Dodgers get him not Reds? Has to be more to this deal…doesn’t make sense on surface Same here. Why do I feel like there's some kind of prospect coming back to the Sox?
  14. If Montas is being traded I doubt seriously it's Ethier or any other high price vet.
  15. LA is looking for another closer type, wonder if Robertson is in the trade.
  16. Not sure if I should be excited or scared. I'll go with intrigued for now...
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) you are right, but it seems as some of the major team that are players or thinking they will be in the running of a playoff spot been getting 2 closer . AZ is still looking for a starting pitcher so I seriously doubt they are willing to take on Robertson's contract to be the set up or back up closer. There are plenty cheaper bullpen options available that would allow them to sign another SP.
  18. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 09:33 AM) AZ is in win now mode and needs bullpen help. The closer market is hot right now so I'd offer Robertson and Garcia for Lamb, Peralta and a top 5 prospect. We'd have to replace Robertson but we'd also free up $13m that could be used to dump Laroche and sign Upton or Cespedes. Doubtful AZ would want Robertson and his contract. Ziegler was lights out as a closer for them last season. I don't doubt they are looking for bullpen help, just not Robertson.
  19. I like the Name Lamb idea. What does AZ need that the Sox could send their way in a trade if Lamb is available?
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 08:36 AM) Sports Mockery suggested we trade Quintana, Avi, and Sanchez for Frazier lolol. I chewed them up. Good for you! That's hilarious because Frazier isn't worth Q in a 1-1 trade. I think Dusek is an example of what GreenSox talks about when he says "hero love/worship". I know the term is used alot but in this case it clearly fits. Not trying to take anything away from Frazier but that package is just preposterous.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) Why would Texas make that deal for anything other than salary relief? Texas is looking for a right handed hitter and pitching. It would open up salary for them and the Sox could send Avi with LaRoche. Fielder's salary is 24M per year through the '20 season but 6M per year is payed by the tigers which is why I'd consider it. Fielder does bring a left handed power bat that gets on base, albeit a base clogger. That said, there are certain better ideas to entertain.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 15, 2015 -> 06:15 PM) One name that I haven't seen mentioned on the site is Prince Fielder. He is supposedly available. If they'd take LaRoche back, that could be an intriguing option. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...=Prince+fielder I'm with ya Jimmy, Fielder is worth looking into.
