QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) Dat Fire... Dat passion.. In all seriousness, he's got a lot of power in his swing. Yes he does, he can certainly hit some bombs. He's rather quick running the bases too. I'm really looking forward to watching him on the South Side!

Left handed OF power bat to hit behind Abreu in the batting order. Would love to try and steal Preston Tucker from Houston since they have so many outfielders but that likely a pipe dream.
-
Agree with those unwilling to give up Anderson or Fulmer. Two years of Frazier combined with the second half of the season he had plus the Reds asking price make it very easy to forget all about Frazier. Would much rather see the Sox use resources on a left handed power bat for the outfield.
-
This isn't a prediction, more like a question really. The Astros have a too many outfielders so I wonder if they are open to trading Preston Tucker or Andrew Aplin. Thoughts?
-
Good grief. Between the Braves and Phillies, those farms have some serious talent. Should be interesting to see how those kids develop over the next few years. Philli did well.
-
I wonder if the Sox change things up and talk to Cinci about Jay Bruce. He wouldn't cost the Sox top prospects, his contract should fit within the sox budget and provides power from the left side. Bruce makes 12.5M in 16 with an option for 13M in '17 with a 1M buyout. I'd rather find someone else but Bruce wouldn't be the worst option either.

The Sox trade for a young 3B and the thread is transf***ed into an argument over the cubs new 2B? Really? f*** Zobrist! f*** the cubs! Go Sox! Catcher and third base has been upgraded and now on to the next move, whatever that may be.
-
Weren't the Reds asking for a package starting with Anderson? Maybe the Sox can get lucky and get Frazier for less than we think, like Lawrie? Ya, its a stretch.
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) Can't we just make a move without talking about the damn Cubs? Thank you! I was thinking the same thing.

Uh oh, somebody call the whaaaaambulance. We have a whiner! Quick, somebody grab the milk, honey and pacifier!

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) I need one of you negative miserable posters to tell me how this is a bad move. One! Please! So I can laugh at you and talk about you to my entire family as you personally being a representative for all negative moronic Soc fans that are possible to please. YA! What Shipps said!!!

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) What's next? Cespedes? Upton? Desmond? Kendrick? Alexei? I'd imagine the Sox work on an OF bat. No clue as to who though.
-
Man, I hope the Sox work on an extension with Lawrie. Eaton and Lawrie are going to be a trip!
-
Great! This team needs a player with energy! Well done Sox FO, now get back to work.
-
Oh duh, Juan Uribe! Geez guys, do I have to think of everything?
-
Uh oh, its house betting time! My bet is the Sox will not be trading with the Reds.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 06:45 PM) I would much rather go after Dickerson Dickerson fits the mold of what the Sox are looking for as far as being young and under team control, for four more years. I assume the Rockies would be interested in Montas, I wonder what else it would take?
-
Nationals need a pitcher and the Sox could use a SS * cough* Trea Turner *cough*.
-
My preference would be to trade for CarGo if the price is reasonable. I know the Sox need power and it would nice if they could get it from the left side. #3 Abreu #4 CarGo #5 Lawrie sounds good to me. Again, that depends on what the Rockies want for CarGo. If the cost is too high I'd shoot for Cespedes.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) I'm not sure what the holdup is but I want something to happen god dammit. What Mike said! X10

QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) This is what I was thinking. There was a tweet or something about the Sox "lining up" some moves. Then the Lawrie thing, and now I see on mlbtraderumors that CarGo's name is coming up again. I could see the Sox making two moves like Lawrie and CarGo simultaneously. Ya, the Sox were supposedly in meetings all day yesterday so maybe today at some point the puzzle comes together. Perhaps a three way deal involving the SOX, A's and Rockies?

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) And it just came out the Cubs were in on Miller and included Soler, so that leads you to believe the Cubs still have a few more chips on the table. I think they land a SP in a trade and then sign J Hey or Gordon. But I'm sick of seeing our cross town rivals execute a plan correctly, and they've hit on their plan for a few years. It's time for the Sox to collect a few hits, and I think Lawrie is an excellent start. He is 26 and at one point was being talked about as a future superstar before a few injury setbacks. I think he would be a steal for this team and not only would bring better D and O but would be a guy that wouldn't let this team be flat or go through the motions throughout a season. He'll light a fire for this team Could not agree more. Eaton and Lawrie in the same dugout should keep the energy level up and we seen too many times in '15 how lethargic the players looked at times. Just going through the motions, or so it seemed. I hope you're right in that the Sox are lining things up and once a Lawrie trade is announced, another announcement or two follows.
-
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) If this deal goes down Lawrie will be an improvement (how can anybody be worse?) but let's keep things in perspective, you still aren't talking about a 25 home run , 100 RBI guy at the position which is traditionally a big time power spot in your lineup. Again he'll help but he's not an All-Star by any means. (And yes I know they are in short supply...) Mark I think tradition needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Only 8 third baseman had 25 or more HR's in '15 and one of them ( Valbuena ) played 1/3 of his games at first so its not like those guys are in abundance.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) Medicals could be a hold up, Lawrie has had a history of injuries (although most were freak accidents; broken ankle sliding, broken hand being hit by a pitch, strained oblique after catching a ball and falling in the camera pit). But I really think we are choosing not to announce this yet because we are still working on the other pieces that fit together in this puzzle, well hopefully atleast. That's definitely a possibility too. Something like what the cubs did last night with the Castro trade and Zobrist signing.
-
Stll have the feeling there's more involved in the trade talks than just Lawrie. Then again, maybe it could be that both teams are looking into medicals? It just seems like a deal like this would be more simple and take less time.
