QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Well it's worth discussing because it's the latest info we've had. Plus it's really the only position where we are getting some names right now. If he has a 4/20M then he should take it because I think it would be stupid of the Sox to offer a 4 year deal to a 32 year old player that hasn't p!ayed the majors yet. Imo, its not a match for the Sox and they should move on from Matsuda. If Matsuda is seeking that kind of contract then there's nothing left to discuss since its not a fit for both sides.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) I think that is what he means. Eaton is going nowhere. Agreed. Obviously Levine's ass is not talking properly today.

QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) Well I would hope we dont give him a 4 year deal. 2 is probably right where you want to be. But I'm not sure he would move over here for 2 years unless the money was way above that offer from Japan. I wouldn't read too much into it. The Sox need a 3B and its Hahn's job to explore every opportunity. If there's a match then great, if not the search continues.

QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) Well that ESPN article mentioning him did say at the bottom that he has a 4 year 20 million dollar offer from the team he was previously playing for. He might take that. I guess the quest for a 3B would continue for Hahn.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) Japan is pretty much on the other side of the planet from San Diego and Chicago. Are there non-stops to Tokyo out of SD? I know there are out of ORD. Not that it matters. If he's coming to the USA he's going to be far from home. Oh and I don't think a Japanese player is going to feel right at home down at Cermak and Wentworth. Not all asians are the same lol. Yes there are. SD is closer to Japan than Chicago. It's just that SD is on the east side of the Pacific and Japan is on the west side. Not sure how appealing SD will be for a 32 year old 3B just starting his MLB career since SD is obviously rebuilding.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/rang...ce-fielder.html I don't know. Might be worth kicking the tires on if Texas was willing to take back LaRoche and who knows, they could have interest in Danks? I wouldn't mind a LH middle of the order power bat behind Abreu in the lineup. The Sox would be on the hook for 18M per year with Fielder and would still have money left to take on a salary like Lawrie or Prado or Freese or Asdrubal. Just throwing it out there. Thoughts?

Nightengale is full of s*** for sure on this one. Nobody is giving Zobrist 20M per year. Seriously Knightengale, put the bottle down and stop hitting the crack pipe while you're at it.

QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) and here is me stirring the pot. yup, move him to the end of the bench. Yep, I've been suggesting this for a while now. He can be a bench bat and late inning defensive sub at 1B. Who knows, maybe at some point he catches fire and gets more atbats but otherwise, he rides the pine while cheerleading his teammates. Adam LaRoche: bench bat, late inng defensive replacement and jock holder extraordinaire. Maybe the Sox should look into a Melky trade. Platoon the DH spot with LaAvi, Eaton LF, Thompson CF and FA/Trade for RF.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien 13m13 minutes ago Don Cooper texted Carlos Rodon to say “I hope you’re getting your butt ready for your breakout first full season in the majors." #WhiteSox ... With the Marlins! Just messing around.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:59 AM) Eaton should go to LF and Trayce to CF in they could somehow move LaRoche. You're right and I agree 100%. Good call.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) I believe Hahn talked about the need to get creative / back end deals to 2016 and beyond. Hahn did speak about if they signed player the Sox would be looking for a back loaded deal beyond '16 when Danks/LaRoche contracts are done but that different than what Knightengale said about LaRoche and why the Sox are looking to trade him. I don't doubt the Sox are looking to move LaRoche, I doubt Knightengale's reason seeing as how the Sox will have to eat money in order save just a bit. Trading LaRoche is about opening up the DH spot. Open up the DH spot and the Sox have more flexibility. Melky goes to DH, RF goes to Thompson, LF goes to Avi or FA/trade bat. Hell, the Sox would be able to platoon Avi/Melky at DH. I like LaRoche as a person but he isnclogging up the DH spot and suffocating the teams flexibility.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) Again, clearing openings is different that clearing cap space and that isn't something I'd think you'd have to worry about at this point (if you are trying to compete). LaRoche's one year deal shouldn't get in the way of "competing" or not "competing" imo. Hahn has already hinted at backloading something which would already be working around it. I just wish Sox would keep their mouths shut about financial stuff. I never liked when Kenny talked about it and I never liked when Hahn does either. If you want to talk about something after we do it (and about how JR went above and beyond...great, I can support that) but I don't want them to cry poor for / make excuses for items. Lets not pretend people don't understand their circumstances and payroll limitations. We know we aren't the Yankees or Dodgers and thus we have to build plans that contemplate those very components (and can't just ignore the fact that we can't go crazy in FA). Keep in mind that those are Knightengale's words when talking about freeing up payroll space. Maybe I missed it but I haven't read anything where Hahn spoke of clearing payroll.

Teams are targeting SS Tim Anderson, #White Sox's No. 1 prospect,
BlackSox13 replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Gee whiz, thanks Phil. We could have guessed that too. Now tell us who the Sox might be in discussionswith and possible players they are looking at. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 10:19 AM) So lets be clear...no one is going to eat the entire contract, so what is the best case savings..3M / 5M? Does that really prevent you from signing a bat like Upton? Not possible. I think it's more about creating openings. Dumping LaRoche opens up the DH for Melky which in turn opens up LF for a FA OF bat or Thompson.
-
Shopping LaRoche? More like desperately seeking a dumpster to drop off excess salary. Maybe Hahn should call BFI and see if they will make a pickup.
-
The cubs need pitching and have the youth to trade that Atlanta is looking for so a trade makes sense for both teams. Miller would be a nice addition to the cubs rotation. I think Miller would pitch just fine for the cubs which means I really hope the trade doesn't happen.

One can only hope!

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 10:14 PM) I think he's of a #2. Only time he's a 3 hitter is if Miguel Cabrera and Albert Pujols are batting before and after him. Agreed. Heyward's BA, OBP and somewhat lack of power make him a good #2. Eaton and Heyward at the top of the order should give Abreu a ton of RBI opportunities. Problem is it doesn't solve the cleanup hitter problem. You know what the lineup needs? It needs more CarGo!
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 10:03 PM) The trade is now on hold Sure, derail the thread back on topic why don't ya. Seriously. I'm curious what the Dodgers do now. Do they wait and see with Chapman or move on and trade for another arm? I'm thinking moving on would be the smart move.

QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) i know .... that crap is sooo freaking stupid. no one on the family side can get someone that stupid. ref to puig, i still think drug and or steroids is also involve. The incident with Puig happened in a night club so we all know the joys of alcohol. I mean geez, a fight in a night club, go figure.
-
First Reyes, then Puig and now Chapman. Who's next?

QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) this is the DA's job, i wonder if charges of attempted murder will be thought of . I have not lue but I'd bet the Dodgers are looking in a different direction for a closer. I wonder if the Dodgers would have interest in Robertson.

SSS: Early Look at 2016 Draft with Nick Hostetler
BlackSox13 replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 04:34 PM) man i missed this post, nice read and i can't wait for your updates on the draft. i actually might learned something. and i am serious, i really hope the sox do not sign anyone with a comp pick and i really do not want the sox to trade Adams. I just try to follow the college and HS seasons as best I can go get more familiar with names and potential picks. Joshua is the one I would look for updates from. Dude really digs deep on draft prospects. I'm looking forward to mid February when the season gets started. I miss Baseball already! -
I just finished reading that bit about Chapman. Those are serious allegations.
