Kim's defense is suppose to be "solid" so it could be safe to say he would b a upgrade in LF. I really really hope the Sox get afterr this ball player and sign him. If I had to choose I would easily go after Kim over Hwang. I know Kim's stats are from playing in the KBO but I think he has a better chance of adjusting to the MLB than Hwang.

I think the Sox are transparent as far as their needs but as far as potential trades/signings they definitely fly under the radar but that can be said about alot of teams. I think it feels like the Sox are more secretive because we as fans are more focused on all things Sox related first and foremost.

The only rationale I can come up with is the Sox looking at a Danks for Nova swap straight up. Gives the Sox 3 lefties and 2 eighties in the rotation and frees up money to make a splash for a FA position player? It's a stretch, I know but that's all I can come with off the top of my head.

I'm not against Hwang but I have backed off and hope the Sox go after Lawrie. Lawrie is younger than Hwuang and has years of MLB experience and Hwang has none. Imo, Lawrie makes much more sense than Hwang after thinking more about it. I would check in with the Marlins about Prado' availability/cost and kick the tires on Freese as well just as fall back options. FWIW, none of these players are by any means my first choice, just what I perceive to be the most realistic options for the Sox at this point. But who knows what tricks Hahn might have up his sleeve.

I think the new catching duo is something to be excited about. A healthy Avila is is better defensively than Flowers and Navarro is at least on par with Flowers except Navarro has a better arm. The Sox should be throwing out more base runners this year and the platoon bats of Navarro/Avila should put up more offense than Flowers as well. The catching position needed to be upgraded and has been and it did not cost the Sox prospects or much money which leaves plenty of resources to be used to fill a few gaping holes.

Thanks to the FA contracts starting pitchers are getting, the combination of Q's contract and performance make him extremely valuable. For me, talks with the cubs start with Schwarber + one of Russell or Baez and I would try and squeeze Vogelbach from them too. If the Cubs agreed, I would turn LaRoche into a bench bat and personal 1B coach to Schwarber during practices. Schwarber is plenty young enough to learn the 1B position. While he's learning he can be the DH and spell Abreu from time to time. This is interesting in that the teams do match up very well for a trade. I still doubt they would actually pull a blockbuster but both teams are desperate in their own ways.
