  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 05:09 PM) I think we can move LaRoche if we eat some money or all. I want him gone so we can move Melky to DH. Trayce Eaton CarGo. Or any rotation of OFs you want to do. Eaton Trayce CarGo. Just a theory but the Sox might not have to eat too much salary since one year of LaRoche (13M) saves Colorado 24M by not paying CarGo (37M) for the next two years. Colorado gets a 1B in LaRoche to buy McMahon time to likely become the 1B after the '16 season. Colorado also gets Montas + in the deal. Not sure who the + is but a low level prospect might work. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) I like this idea. *slow clap* Thank you sir. It's just a theory and I'm really not counting on it, more wishful thinking on my part.
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) I just can't get behind that lineup because it depends on big bounce back years from LaRoche and Melky. Then ya need Trayce to produce or its all gone to s*** again if they all don't produce. I do think LaRoche should bounce back. How well? Not expecting 40 bombs but 25 would be good. I really like CarGo because he shouldn't break our system like Frazier would. Montas + would be fine with me. I was kinda wondering about something along the lines of CarGo for LaRoche/ Montas/ low level ML player. Melky goes to DH, CarGo to LF and Thompson/Avi/Shuck in RF.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) I don't think Garcia has any real trade value. I mean he was left off the 40 and is exposed to the Rule 5. Would probably take something more like Micah Johnson (if they are even looking for a 2B), and Chris Beck or the like. I believe Lawrie is arb-eligible this year and next, so he's still relatively inexpensive for 2 years. Micah comes with big defensive and health questions. Initially I was going to say Micah/Beck but wasn't sure with both of them having injuries this past season. Oakland looks like they have an opening at 2B so I figured Johnson and a pitcher. Looks like they might have an opening in the OF too but I think it's CF so I doubt they have interest in Avi.
  4. My guess is the Sox trade Micah Johnson and Onelki Garcia to Oakland for Brett Lawrie.
  5. QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) How does Alvarez grade out defensively at 3B? Horrible, deplorable, s***ty and over all skid-mark tainted underwear. He's pretty bad. His dWAR last season was -2.3. See for yourself. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/alvarpe01.shtml Alvarez would have Sox fans missing Gillaspie in no time.
  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 09:13 AM) Sluggers Chris Carter, Pedro Alvarez could help #WhiteSox but not with Adam LaRoche on books for $13 million -- unless Alvarez can play 3B. LaRoche playing 3B is probably a better idea.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 07:20 AM) as for holland, i can see where i made the mistake on that one. but the others as you mention, were not worth their arb yr ... meaning money, but with what the sox have now, some can be an improvement even if it is for one or two yrs. the cupboard is bare.... It's the quality of these players that I question. I really don't see how any of those players will improve upon what the Sox already have, with the exception of Alvarez over LaRoche. Look at the ages, expected salaries and numbers on those players. Not very good at all. I'd much rather see the Sox use their limited resources on better talent than picking through non-tendered garbage. As of right now, Henderson Alvarez is the only played that really interests me and I'm leery on him because he gave up more hits than IP and didn't have to face the DH pitching in the NL. Might not translate well at US Cellular. I'd still take a chance depending on his asking but I wouldn't go overboard trying to sign him either due to the Sox needing to spend their money wisely on position players.
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 05:46 AM) there are many non-tendered that i would love to have a look-see Aaron Crow - rh-sp is still recovering from an injury Yohan Flande lh-sp he is intriguing to me, the factor i keep looking at is he pitched for a sub-par team Rosell Herrera - 23 yrs old, ss/2b/3b he is still in the minors and well how many ss/3b prospect does the team have. doesn't hurt for more Juan Nicasio - sp and again another Col factor Craig Stammen rh-sp, still recovering from a fore arm surgery. still on he really had some mild success in Wash, i think a look-see . Yusmeiro Petit rh-sp, his stats are really not that bad compared to others on this list. this is a definite for me. César Ramos lh pretty much as Petit and his success has been with the Angels. Pedro Alvarez lh- 1b/dh POWER hitting player, 27 hrs and is in his arb yr. well the asking price is what will be me now. but a person to look-see Greg Holland rh-closer..... this one is puzzling his success --- 47,46, and 32 saves in the bigs for KC and was in his last yr of arb??? well these are all worth a look see but that doesn't mean they will all get sign. but it does make an interesting list of players. In short, most of these guys were non-tendered because they are just bad, injured or too expensive for their production. As for Holland, he won't pitch in '16 due to TJ surgery. The only played your list that could be of interest is Alvarez but there's no room for him on the Sox roster as long as LaRoche is the DH.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 3, 2015 -> 12:22 AM) Do those grow on trees? Are there even any catchers out there that do that? Sure. Didn't you know catchers like that are a dime a dozen and almost every team has one? It's just that the White Sox purposely abstain from those types because they enjoy a good challenge and prefer defensive pitch framers.
  10. No thanks on Middlebrooks. I would hope the Sox have their 3B sights set just a bit higher than that.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) I agree. If all you can say is he's good at pitch framing then he's just not worth it. It's not like Flowers could wipe out a teams running game like Sal Perez can do. True but Perez doesn't have magic glasses to enhance his super uber pitch framing abilities!
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) I'm going to throw out Plawecki. Got to think they're adding a younger catcher if they're willing to non-tender Flowers, given the uncertainty at the position for 2017 & forward. I think an Avi for Plawecki swap makes a lot of sense for both clubs. I like your idea. Pairing a young catcher with Avila makes sense. I could see the Mets having some interest in Micah too.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) I think I'd rather have Carter or Alvarez than LaRoche. Those 2 strikeout a ton but at least I know they'll hit bombs. I would too and either one would be cheaper than LaRoche. Oh well, all we can do is hope LaRoche hits better than last year because he ain't going anywhere.
  14. Not sure who but some AL team will give that LF handed power a shot. Baltimore might be a good fit.
  15. We can't make any sense of this until we see what who the Sox replace Flowers with. I'm really starting to think the catcher will come in a trade. Been wrong before though.
  16. How about Anderson for Brett Phillips swap instead? I like that idea much more. Ohhhh the off season bordome. Come on Hahn, who the hell is the new catcher?
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 08:37 PM) Jean Segura involved too? That would make much more sense if Anderson is involved.
  18. Would be nice to have Alvarez as a fall back option.
  19. QUOTE (lord chas @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) Lucroy is coming to the southside Please don't tease us. It's just not nice.
  20. P Henderson Alvarez was non-tendered. Supposed to miss the first month or two of the season. Is he worth a look?
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 07:49 PM) It isn't bad if he hits like 2014. If he is like every other year in his career, it would be an offensive downgrade The last year of his contract is what I'm hung up on but I agree that if he can hit as he did in '14 then great. But that's a huge if and gamble.
