  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 17, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) I think you'll hear about it more next year if the White Sox miss the playoffs again. Next year's free agent pitchers are 1. Stephen Strasburg 2. Brett Anderson................... I think you're right. Next year would be the year to trade either Sale or Q. One more year gives Rodon another year of building his innings and developing into the ace of the staff, gives Montas and Fulmer time to develop into potential MLB starters and buys time for the likes of Adams, Guerrero etc to move into the upper minors. IMHO, trading Sale or Q now would be a year too soon.
  2. I think the insane price aces will get make Sale's value even higher, not lower. But, I don't expect any team to actually give up full value for Sale either which is why I'm confident Sale will be the White Sox opening day starter in '16. Nothing wrong with discussions on what he could bring back in a trade though and especially since us fans haven't had much to talk about so far.
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 16, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) wowow i just thought i was seeing doubles. It caught me off guard at first because I knew the first Sox/Astros thread had more pages and when I first clicked on this I noticed there was only one page. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 16, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) But then it turns into a catch all thread and apparently people complain about having mixed information Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Just trying to avoid having the same discussion to the point I'm repeating myself in two threads. It gets confusing for my feeble mind.
  4. No offense to anyone but do we really need two threads about the same topic? I'm just asking is all.
  5. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 16, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) Swapping out LaRoche for Reyes saves them a lot of salary. Like $36M over the next two seasons. And it costs the Sox alot of salary. If the Sox are going to spend their limited funds, it won't be on Reyes. The Sox would be fools to take on Reyes and his salary.
  6. I don't see Danks or LaRoche going anywhere but I would be surprised if the Sox didn't move Robertson and Melky. The returns would not be all that spectacular but it would infuse some youth into the farm and open up room for youth on the Sox. With Melky gone, Eaton slides over to LF with Thompson going to CF. Avi can platoon with Shuck in RF and LaRoche at DH, unless the Sox pick up a better option for RF which would be nice.
  7. Unless the Sox bump the payroll,I don't see how they could take on Freeman. 2017-2021 Freeman will be earning 20M+ per season. Going by Hahn's recent comments, Freeman is not the type of players the Sox are looking to add. Plus, I'm not overly impressed with Freeman's numbers as a 1B. I'd pass.
  8. QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) Rockies may hook up with Sox yet: http://blogs.denverpost.com/rockies/2015/1...-pitcher/21156/ Mentions specifically prospects, but I could see them parting with young MLB talent as well. Could be interesting. If they aren't willing to sell much of their farm I think they could have interest in EJ since EJ appears to be MLB ready, comes with years of team control and won't cost them their farm. Not sure if they would be interested in EJ but its an interesting idea.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) That's bad too. The package starts with Springer. You're right, the Sox should at least get one MLB bat in the return. Springer, Reed, Davis and Musgrove?
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 03:01 PM) http://climbingtalshill.com/2015/11/13/hou...-sp-chris-sale/ LMAO at this article and the proposed "return" for Sale. I'm laughing with ya. For me its AJ Reed, Joe Musgrove and JD Davis or I laugh and kindly hang up the phone before I tell them I want Feliz too. Otherwise, I'm fine with Sale as the opening day starter for the White Sox in '16.
  11. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) It's always been sky high. I just don't see a team doing it. Now Quintana I could see a team going for. The interesting thing to think about is what could we get if we moved Q and Sale. The 2017 #1 pick over all.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) See what the Braves want for Aybar. Can't be much. Alexei would be a cheaper option that wouldn't cost a prospect(s). Offensively/defensively, Aybar and Alexei are rather comparable.
  13. I agree with Vance, the Sox should not shy away from NL hitters just because a few recent acquisitions have not worked out. That said, I've lost all interest in Desmond. Would rather go with Freese whom will not cost as much money and will not cost a pick either. Freese would buy the Sox time to develop Trey or trade for a young 3B at some point over the next few years. Not my first choice but imo, I'm not willing to give a pick for Desmond nor do I have the desire to give up top prospects for Frazier.
  14. I would definitely do the Dickerson and LaMahieu trade proposals, doubt the Rockies would though. I do agree the teams seem like a good fit for a trade.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) That is an ugly list outside of Bud Black. You aren't kidding. The other three must be desperate fall back options in case Black declines.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) PRAISE THE F***ING LORD!!! Hallelujah! QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) Great start to the offseason. Addition by subtraction!
  17. Going down to the wire like this combined with Levine saying Samardzija will reject the QO is really making me wonder...
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) They can't trade him. In the story on MLBTR about Rasmus accepting, it says the team can't trade him until June (or maybe July). Thanks for clarifying. I knew Rasmus accepted but I did not read any articles about it so I missed that important detail. No matter, I don't think anyone is expecting Samardzija to accept.
  19. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) You'd be fine with delaying the development of Johnson and effectively limiting one, maybe two, FA signings? We'd all but have to trade Quintana. Not necessarily. EJ is rumored to be on the trade block anyway and Samardzija could still be traded after he accepted the QO, although the return likely wouldn't be all that great. Still, there would be a few teams interested in trading for a one year commitment of Samardzija that comes with a comp pick when Samardzija enters FA next year so there is still some value in Samardzija even after he accepted the QO. Imo, he won't accept it but I've been wrong before.
  20. Gonna throw this out there for the hell of it. Erik Johnson and Micah Johnson to Miami for Dee Gordon.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 08:02 AM) Yes, he is. And if he meant Daniel, then that defense at third would be terrible... Yes it would. Plus, the 30+ year old free agents do not coincide with Hahn's recent comments on the Sox looking to add to their youthful core. I know its way early in the off season and I've not given up on the Sox getting a 3B but I wonder if the Sox giving Davidson a shot would be such a horrible thing. He has the power, can draw some walks and from what I've read his defense has improved to the point he would be an upgrade over the likes of Olt and Gillaspie. I know its a stretch but maybe working with Steverson on a daily basis would help?
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 07:51 AM) Those Braves are really stocking up. They have to have the best farm in baseball after all those deals the past year. Just the Braves being the Braves really. Out of their top 10, 8 are pitchers. I think the Braves did rather well in the trade. Not that the Angels did bad, they have great defenders in CF and now SS so if they can get Giavotella to improve at 2B its going to difficult for batters to get hits up the middle with that defense.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) He changed his stance in September and the power just exploded .It's a lot like Bryce Harper's now. If he truly believes he's fixed something , he might be betting on himself to have a monster year. This is a great point. With the likes of Cespedes, Heyward and Upton as outfield free agents, this isn't the best year for a player like Rasmus to be a FA. If Rasmus performs in '16 he will be one of the biggest outfield FA bats this time next year. I think you hit a bullseye with Rasmus betting on himself.
  24. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) I think alot of us are bored. Alot of news and nothing much for sox besides coaches Absolutely. Seems like there's always a move or two that wasn't seen coming so I'm just trying to think outside of what's been speculated on already. Last July I was very much against the idea of acquiring Castro and now,the idea doesn't sound as bad. The Sox news will pick up, its just a matter of time. The winter meetings aren't far off so we have that to look forward to.
  25. Was looking around at potential SS/2B trade possibilities and read about how the Rangers are still high on Profar after investing heavily in him during the past two years with injuries and all. Got me thinking that maybe the Rangers look to deal Andrus but after looking at his numbers and contract, screw that. I can't believe I'm about to say this, gasp, I wonder if a trade with the cubs involving Erik Johnson and Starlin Castro would be a realistic possibility. Not saying I want this to happen, just trying to think about something that could happen and hasn't been speculated on yet. Also, I wonder if Castro could play 3B? Maybe re-sign Alexei to play SS until Anderson is ready? What can I say, I'm bored so far this off season.
