  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) SMFH, we've now gone from Dan Fabian should be GM to hyping up the Royals' Latin American operations. This is getting beyond ridiculous. I'm with ya. May I offer you some popcorn?
  2. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:58 PM) Offer was expected and its expected he's leaving. Which is fine with me. By the way Sullivan tonight has a story at the Tribune saying the Cubs "have their sites on him..." It would be typical for him to have a good season next year, with some other team. Mark Would crack me up if Samardzija ended up signing with the cubs. Think of all the back-peddling cub fans would have to do after they hated on him for his comments last off season.
  3. Looks like the Padres are out as well. https://mobile.twitter.com/dennistlin/statu...064353248161792 Don't know who Lin is but I caught this at MLBTR.
  4. "SATURDAY: Neither the Indians nor the Tigers submitted the winning bid for Park, via MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian and MLive.com’s Chris Iott (on Twitter). The Indians did bid for Park, although their bid came up short; the Tigers did not bid for him." Per MLBTR That eliminates two teams.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) NY Post did predictions. Had us signing Desmond for 5/80 I'd s*** myself if we did that. Yikes, f*** that. If the SOX are going to sign a FA SS not named Alexei, I hope it's Cabrera and not Desmond.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) They have Josh Bell knocking on the door though. I bet it's Colorado. I forgot about Bell and that Colorado just parted ways with Morneau. Colorado might be a good bet.
  7. Wouldn't be surprised if its the Pirates due to their need at first base.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) I'd be fin with 3/30 for Freese. I want no part of Cabrera or Kendrick though. I'd rather sign Avila for cheaper and bring back Alexei. Agree with everything you say. The Sox could potentially have a few bucks left to sign a pitcher like Beachy to give the starting rotation more depth. I was fine with the idea of Cabrera but I think he's going to get more than 2/18MM given his age and defense. I think he gets 12M+ per year.
  9. I think Dierkes has been drinking Cameron's booze. Have a look. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/2015...redictions.html If Freese can be had for 10M per year then I say go for it. But Kendrick, Freese and Cabrera in one off season? I doubt that very much.
  10. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Brad Miller changing uniforms while Kenny and Rick are still in the preliminary stages of their offseason plan.... I like Miller's bat but the guy is just plain bad on defense at SS. I'm glad the Sox didn't go after him.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) Thanks. All I could find is that his contract expired after 2015, but I thought we had control of him. Sure thing. I'm happy as hell the Sox have Shuck as the fourth outfielder. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) Freese is one of my mock targets Any idea how much Freese will get per year in his next contract? It's been said that 1WAR is worth something like 6-8M and Freese put up a 2.3 in '15.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:59 AM) that would be the best option, but i doubt the pitcher would like that. i just saw that lackey was given a QO..... dang. Beachy is still working his way back from his second TJ and he didn't pitch all that great for the Dodgers so he can't expect too much in a contract. The Sox are known for keeping their pitchers healthy and a good pitching coach in Cooper so a team like the Sox could be rather enticing to Beachy.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) i can see the sox really needing a sp for the in case scenario.... now whether that be a elite or a pitcher of lesser talent. 2 yrs would be great. next yr just in case if danks continue his good results as he put up toward the end of last yr or in case EJ stumbles out of the gate. the other yr would be when Danks contract is up and one of the prospects the sox have is not ready. Brandon Beachy could be interesting. Take a chance on a one year guaranteed contract with a second year option. I don't think he would cost much either.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) Quick question- is JB Shuck a free agent, or is he still under team control? Shuck is under team control through the '19 season. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/shuckja01.shtml
  15. Beckham is a FA and with so many infielders its doubtful the Sox bring him back. One idea for SS could be Asdrubal Cabrera, depending on his asking price and if the Sox do indeed part ways with Alexei.
  16. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 08:37 PM) He's a LHH who hit .203 vs RHP last year. With a .355 OBP and 34% CS. I'd take a chance on a two year deal and hope he can hit better.
  17. Meh, wasn't a fan of the idea of trading for Miller due to his defense at SS. I don't think the SOX missed out on anything there.
  18. Nice thread. I went with Avila and Alexei as the most plausible options, IMHO. Avila's LHB at catcher makes some sense and for some reason I can see the Sox bringing Alexei back at a reduced salary. As for the others, I just don't see it happening. As for payroll I went with 120-129M.
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) Dave Cameron's completely random speculation of our postseason: Undeterred by a pretty lousy 2015 season, the White Sox still seem to want to contend while they have Chris Sale and Jose Abreu locked up, so I’d expect another aggressive offseason from Rick Hahn this winter. Howie Kendrick would provide a substantial upgrade at second base, and at $48 million for three years, won’t entirely break the bank. Mat Latos on a one year deal for $10 million to work with Don Cooper and try to live up to his potential seems to make some sense, and then I’m also giving them Alex Avila and the outfielding Chris Young on 2/$10M deals to provide some depth that the team lacked a year ago, while Alexei Ramirez comes back for $6 million on a one year deal to bridge the gap to Tim Anderson.Undeterred by a pretty lousy 2015 season, the White Sox still seem to want to contend while they have Chris Sale and Jose Abreu locked up, so I’d expect another aggressive offseason from Rick Hahn this winter. If that is our offseason, I will be busy doing a lot of camping next summer. I think Cameron needs to pass booze over this way. All those players combine to add 42M to a payroll that supposedly stands at around 105M. For some reason I have a difficult time believing the SOX will jump from 119M to 147M. Put down the sauce Cameron.
  20. Before anymore qualifying offer questions are asked I think it's important to point out that the QO is worth 15.8 M this year. If a player isn't percieved to be worth that much then they will not get a QO.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 07:56 AM) Cabrera won't get that much, either. I wouldn't be surprised if he did. We will find out this off season.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 07:49 AM) Not one year. That number is over 2 years. Two years makes more sense but another poster said 12-15M per year which is what I was referring to. No chance Alexei is worth that.
  23. I can't see how a 34 yo SS with declining skills and a 1WAR value is worth 12-15M per year. Asdrubal Cabrera will likely be in that range but not Alexei.
  24. QUOTE (Ballz-n-Strikes @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 02:21 AM) No it doesn't. Speak for yourself. I just hit 40 and I can't remember a time in my life where things have been this easy to recollect. Stop writing as if you speak for "fans" or "40 year olds"... You don't. If the Sox make a play for "Upton"...will you know which one before you post a lecture? Good grief, did Caulfield kick your puppy? Relax, it was on honest mistake. Caulfield, stop kicking puppies around here, MMMKay!
