  1. I see where Jenks is coming from. I'm 43 and watched 4,5 and 6 at the theatre when they came out and loved them. However, I tried watching Episode 1 after it came out on DVD and I did not like it at all, couldn't even sit through the entire movie and turned it off. Never bothered with episodes 2 and 3 since I thought #1 sucked.
  2. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) Good Lord. The end can't come soon enough. Yeah, the media and cub fans alike are just pathetic. As long as the cubs keep losing, I like all of their smiles equally.
  3. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 03:36 PM) Whoops. Yep, that's a big whoops! Edit: 5-0 Royals
  4. 4-0 Royals with the Jays batting in the bottom 1st.
  5. In a win where the Jays pitching yielded 8 runs, I think Jays fans should be cheering for better pitching from their team. Cannot rely on offense every night. Hopefully Dickey has a good knuckler this after noon and helps the Jays even the series. I think the pitching matchup favors the Jays.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) So answer my question: Do Sox get a wildcard this past season if we had Madden instead of "I run a loose spring training camp and don't teach bunting or fundamentals" Robin Ventura? Remember Minnie almost made the playoffs. I say with Madden we were IN. Nope, the Sox still do not make the playoffs. Madden would be too busy playing with his telestrator.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) I was typing out hell no when I realized I'd rather have him then Avisail Garcia. Ya know, since you put it that way, Brown sounds more interesting all of the sudden.
  8. Nah, rather give Thompson the atbats to see what more he has to offer. If the Sox didn't have LaRoche, I could see interest in Brown.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 10:06 AM) This trade is getting the Sox a comp pick who should be a better prospect than Semien was. Thing is it wasn't just Semien in the trade. At this point I would rather have Phegley as the backup C, Bassitt in the rotation, Ravelo (high OBP) in the minors and Semien's bat somewhere in the lineup. Considering the state of the Sox, I'd take all four of those players over an unknown comp pick.
  10. Went to see Crimson Peak today. Great visuals, fair amount of bloody violence but not scary Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston were great. Pretty cool flick.
  11. Nice 30 pitch first inning for Jake, keep it up buddy!
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) Not one cub lover in the whole store. Shocking. No hats, t-shirts, and no coats. Nice. I went to the movies earlier wearing my Sox cap and there were no cub fans around anywhere. I gotta say it was a good day.
  13. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) They weren't BPA to you, every team values and scouts players differently and have very different boards. Those three were BPA to the Cubs, and thats why they drafted them QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) Is he really though? What he's challenging here is precisely how Schwarber end up being the #2 on the Cub's board in 2014. The Cubs had Schwarber at #2 on their board not because they thought he was the 2nd best player in the draft, but to them he was the second best option when they factoring in the $$(which is the biggest factor), their success in developing hitters, and their plan to develop hitters through the system, then trade or sign pitchers in the FA. In other words, if Sox draft a pitcher who's ranked lower than a hitter on most boards because they have a stronger track record in pitching development, and they could save $$ for later rounds, then they are still taking the BPA from their perspective, which I am fine with as well. The way I'm reading Joshua's post is that the cubs took the best player available when their turn to pick came up. Who was #1 on their draft board and who was picked before the cubs is irrelevant. What matters is the players that were available at the time of the cubs pick and how the cubs viewed the available players. Joshua, am I reading your post correctly? I'm pretty sure I am and in agreement with you.
  14. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) Thats not true..... you need to factor in $ In all fairness, Schwarber was considered the best college bat in the draft and we all know how the cubs like drafting hitters.The cubs also had Schwarber #2 on their draft board behind Aiken so to the cubs, Schwarber was the BPA. Schwarber wasn't projected to go #4 and many were surprised with the pick which not only reinforces that the cubs thought he was the BPA but allowed the cubs to sign him under alot. As for Baez, the cubs had their eye on him and were hoping Baez would fall to them so in the mind of the cubs he was the BPA @ #9 in '11. Joshua is spot on in his post.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 06:13 PM) In 2005 I said nothing to cubs fans after we won. It will be a nightmare if they go to the ws. To an extent neither did I, except for those that were talking trash before hand. I left the silent cub fans alone. I was pretty brazen in January of 2006. I was a truck driver and had a delivery in Wrigleyville, my helper was hungry and wanted McDonald's. Well,at the time we were traveling North on Clark so I stopped at the McDonald's across from Wrigley Field. The helper refused to go in to get the food with me because I was wearing a Sox hat/jacket and was afraid of getting his ass kicked so I had to go in and get the food. Man, I walked in with a smug look on my face and got the most f***ed up looks from people. They HATED me which made me actually laugh out loud. Oh how I hope for those days to return soon. Harvey is looking great tonight!
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 12:42 PM) I just can't win. I went to the bank this morning to make a deposit. I'm walking out to the parking lot and here comes the guy with a Cubs jacket. I obviously have my sox jacket on and he says, wrong jacket dude. Just leave me alone. I used to get the same thing when I hung out in bars. I would be minding my own business with friends and of course some dips*** cubs fan would have to say something about my Sox cap/jacket. Don't know why cubs fans are so concerned over what other people like. I can honestly care less what team someone else likes or supports since they are free to like whatever. f*** the cubs and their self righteous fans. Go Mets!
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) F*** that go Royals. f*** yeah! As the old Sox saying goes... My two favorite teams are the White and who ever is playing the cubs. Obviously the Sox are far and beyond #1.
  18. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) No but I did stay in a Holliday Inn Express last night. Good enough for me. Be sure to report to ST,the Sox need all the help they can get.
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) Well I'm at least 27 and hitting my prime ... Can you play 3B, RF, C or SS?
  20. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) If they can sweep Miami in 5 games to win a title, then anything's possible. It's impossible for the cubs to win the ALCS.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) Maybe a lesser pitching free agent or an mlb ready pitcher in a Q deal. Some ideas: -Cahill: cheap option. Not really good. Maybe he can be fixed. -Estrada -Fister -Gee -Guthrie -Iwakuma -Lackey -Latos -Norris Now I am by no means saying they can replicate what Q does, but they would still provide depth. Thanks for the list. Interesting names in there that would be affordable. Think I'd set my sights on Iwakuma or Estrada. I think either could be had on 1-3 year deals, just my guess.
  22. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 11:17 AM) What about Steven Matz? He'll get a start as well, right? QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 11:21 AM) Harvey G1 Syndergaard G2 DeGrom G3 Matz G4 Harvey G5 Syndergaard G6 Degrom G7 I somehow forgot about Matz. Thanks for posting this.
  23. I really like the Mets chances based on their pitching and i think Mets hitters match up well against cubs pitching. With Harvey going in game 1 I wouldn't mind seeing Colon for game 2 with Snydergaard for game 3 and DeGrom game 4. With Colon throwing much slower than the other three it could throw the cub hitters off for game two. Go Mets!
  24. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) While I agree with the placeholder comment, I'm not so sure Q is gone. It's going to be a big trade if he's moved. Maybe Q for CarGo and McMahon or something like Q for Puig in some kind of package with prospects involved for both teams. You know how much I like the idea of trading Q but if the Dodgers offered Puig and Barnes, I'd have a difficult time saying no. Problem is that I have no idea who replaces Q in the rotation with Montas and Fulmer needing time in the minors.
  25. 314M still cannot buy a trip to the NLCS. Ain't that some s***! Congrats to the Mets.
