QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 09:23 AM) I'll find the article but I thought he was talking different than being surprised. I thought he was pissed off. Maybe I'm wrong. “I was shocked, we all were, by Tulo getting traded. I’m hurt. Tulo’s been the one guy who has been by my side ever since I was in (Single-A) Asheville. It’s disappointing. That is not the guy I wanted to see go . . . I don’t know any of these dudes we got. But I think if we were going to trade Tulo, I would think it would be for an ace, an established veteran pitcher. Obviously we are starting to rebuild from the ground up.” He was surprised and upset by losing his friend and mentor but he did not speak negatively about the Rockies organization. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) They aren't trading him. That's the bottom line. Yep and with the Rockies holding control over him through the '19 season there's no reason to trade him at this point. IMO, if the Rockies trade Arenado it won't be until after the '16 season when they have had another year to evaluate McMahon who's earliest projection is the '17 season. That would still leave three years of team control over Arenado which would still hold plenty of value on the trade market IF the Rockies decided to trade Arenado. They could wait until after the '17 season, trade him with two years of control left ( like Beane) and still get a haul. There's just no reason for the Rockies to trade Arenado right now.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) Why would a team demand the world for a guy who is clearly unhappy there and has spoken out against the organization? I remember Arenado speaking about how surprised he was with the Tulo trade and how he thought CarGo could be next but I wouldn't consider that speaking out against the organization. Regardless if Arenado is happy or not, he is still worth a ton on the trade market and is exactly the type of player to build around so the Rockies have no incentive to move him. So who will be to blame next spring when Arenado is still wearing a Rockies uniform? KW? Hahn? JR? Adam Dunn?

So, any " bet the house " predictions for game 5?
-
Is this write up from MLBTR really anything we don't already know or have discussed? The holes on this team are rather obvious.
-
Always liked Alomar, not sure how he would be as a bench or potential future manager but I wouldn't complain if the Sox brought him on board.

Cespedes 3R shot makes it 10-3 Mets

I picked the Dodgers to win this series based on Kershaw, Greinke and the Dodger lineup but I would rather see the Mets beat that 300M payroll.
-
A few things that Gibbons might have been thinking. 1) Jays needed to do whatever to stay alive and preserve the lead against a tough Texas lineup 2) Stroman pitched better against Texas than Price so Stroman starting game 5 makes some sense 3) Pitching Price today ( Monday) was sort of like a side session for Price and if the Jays can win Wednesday without using Price, he should be well rested to start game 1 of the ALCS Friday. I can see where Gibbons is coming from.

Michalczewski intrigued me most since he plays 3B and is so young. Engel is interesting too.

Mets come right back and lead 4-3
-
Dodgers up 3-0 going into the bottom of the second. Come on Mets.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Like I said, it's kind of scary because 90 percent of people don't come to a complete stop. I was just out and about and again, people appeared mad at me for taking so long at the stop signs. Somebody coming up right behind you is scary cause they appear to be very close to banging into the bumper. Now you're really stretching Greg, one excuse after another. Those people don't write the laws do they? If those people were lined up to jump off a bridge would you follow?

Jays win 8-4. Game 5 in Toronto Wednesday at 3PM central. Stroman vs Hamels

That was short lived, FUUUUUUCK!

QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 05:43 PM) I think he said LaRoche for Hanley + cash. Then, someone else pointed out that Bosox do not need LaRoche, even a good LaRoche, and I agree. Thanks oldsox, I remember Vance saying that now. I think Boston is going to have a hell of a time finding a team willing to take on Hanley and some portion of his salary. His shoulder and lack of a defensive position really hurts his value. I'm laughing at myself right now because I'm pretty sure at some point last winter I mentioned the idea of the Sox should try to sign Hanley to play 3B. In the end, I'd rather keep LaRoche for one more season and after he's gone the Sox will be able to slide Melky to DH for the last season of his contract.

Well, s***!
-
8-2 Jays with Price still pitching in the 7th.
-
Cards took a page right out of the Sox play book. Get em on, get em over and strand em.
-
Jays up 8-1 with Texas batting in the 7th.
-
Gibbons said before today's game that everyone was available and he would not hesitate to call upon Price. It's a must win game against a powerful Texas lineup so no lead is considered safe when facing elimination. If the Jays went with Stroman and advanced, they could start Price in game 1 of the ALCS.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) Third base. Valbuena has 1 year left and also he's just Valbuena. And at 22.7M, Hanley is just... Hanley. All things being equal I'll take one year of Valbuena over Hanley, his salary and s*** for defense. Since you have it all figured out, where do the Astros play Lowrie whom is also a 3B? He's under contract through '17 and is not going to sit on the bench for the 14M he is owed during the next two seasons. Again, Houston has no reason or need to trade for Hanley. In an effort to steer this back on track. What is your trade proposal with Boston that brings Hanley to the White Sox?
-
Glad to see the Jays mashing. Hopefully they don't follow in Houston's footsteps. Hopefully Dickey can throw 9.
-
WTF Houston?! The ALCS was gift wrapped and the Astros pen s***s itself.
-
Oh man, funny stuff in this thread. Hopefully McCullers dominates while Ventura loses the house.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 09:52 AM) Why can't they trade for a SP and sign one? Maybe they'd prefer the cost efficiency of Quintana to offset the burden Lester will become. 1.) Price 2.) Arrieta 3.) Lester 4.) Quintana 5.) Hammel/Hendricks The point is, Baez can bring back value. Castro probably can't Hendricks is good as a fifth starter so the cubs really just need one starter to upgrade a rotation that's already pretty good. There's little incentive for them to trade for starting pitching when there's so many available on the FA market. The smart move would be to sign Price or Zimmermann, keep their hitters as well as their '16 1st round pick and trade Castro to make room for Baez. If the cubs wanted SP depth, there are plenty of cheaper options available via FA that they could sign to give Hendricks competition in ST. In a Sox/cubs trade, the Sox need the cub hitters more than the cubs need Sox pitching. It pains me to say it but its true. I just don't see a fit between the two teams as far as trades are concerned. Edit: my bad, Zimmermann will cost a draft pick.
