That's exactly the problem. Some people expect instant gratification while ignoring that the majority of players need time to adjust to the MLB level of competition. Seriously it's like some people have never watched baseball in their life. This is the approach I take as well. Look for the positive things and hope Yoan builds on them. MLB pitchers have adjusted to Yoan so now he needs to adjust to them. Anyone that's watched White Sox baseball should already know this because Hawk has only been preaching " baseball is a game of adjustments" for how many years now?

I just don't understand how some fans can write him off so easily and call him a bust at just 23 years old. This is his first full season. Look how long it took Avi to come around and he never had the tools Yoan has. If anything Avi should have taught us to remain patient, which many of us are doing.

Wouldn't a better idea be to sit back and watch Moncada over the next few years to see how he adapts instead of trying to predict his future based on false narratives? At just 23 years old playing for a team that's in the development years of a rebuild I don't see how it would be difficult to sit back and watch it all unfold. Unless of course the zombie apocalypse happens sooner than expected.

I'm curious to see what the Sox do this winter with Shields. I fully expect the Sox to buy him out but wonder if they try to re-sign him or a ST invite to compete against Guerrero, Covey, Stephens for the final spot in the rotation. It would buy more time for Cease who needs to continue building up his innings next year.

I hope the Sox finish outside the top five picks for next year's draft. That would mean some young players played some good baseball and I'm fine with that. Time to start learning how to win.

Yeah I think Kopech handled this very well and it shows he's maturing. He did well in maintaining his composure about the twitter stuff and maybe this will help him on the mound somehow.

Another solution would be for people to grow up and not say offensive things in the first place. Opinions are like assholes. If someone is over weight does it really need to be pointed out? Is it pointed out because one thinks they are smart? Is it pointed out to be mean? Is it pointed out because one feels they have to express their free speech? My point is that it's pointless. People wouldn't be so easily offended if others learned to shut up about things that don't concern them.

If we see Cease in a Sox uni in 2019 something went wrong. Either he got roughed up too often or missed time due to his injury thus not accumulating enough innings and needing a September call up to get those innings. If things go well for him in 2019 I think we see him in mid April of 2020. The most important things for Cease in 2019 is to say healthy and continue to build up his innings... not a 2019 call up.

Yeah his stuff is ahead of his endurance. If he wasn't still building up his innings I'd say he could be an April or May cap up next year but IMHO his IP totals tell me he needs another year in the minors. Maybe a late August call-up like Kopech this year? I guess we'll see where his innings totals are at when August comes back around. He's definitely stepped it up big time. His ERA is a full run lower in Birmingham than it was at WS and that's where I think park factor has helped but certainly not the only contributor. More K's per 9 is contributing as well.

Crazy how Cease's numbers got significantly better after to moving up to Birmingham. I know Birmingham's park plays into it a bit but still, damn!

Meh, not excited or dissapointed with this trade. The fact Avilan wasn't traded by the deadline and took until August 22 to find a new home tells me there was no market for him. Too many rebuilding teams and teams out of the pennant race.

I could see the cubs being legitimately interested in Shields seeing as how Chatwood walks the world. Shields isn't worth much and the cubs don't have much to offer, it's a good fit on paper.

I can't think of a proper comp either. LJ is the best I can come up with but admittedly not the ideal comp. We should have a much better idea by this time next year.
