  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 06:32 PM) I'd be all for Cespedes Would Cespedes be willing to play RF? Cespedes would be a more logical option for the Sox, imo.
  2. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 05:09 PM) What happens to LaRoche? I know I know, Bat boy!
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) When it's 16 of 18 people not believing, that does astound me a bit. Why? You yourself estimated there would be an 85% non-believer and 16/18 is 88% so you really should not be surprised. You did a good job on your estimation.
  4. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) He was throwing 89-91 in his outing but was very effective (3 K's in 1.1 perfect innings). With Marin I think his location and ability to change speeds is what makes him so difficult to hit. He works quickly and has excellent mound presence. Good to hear and thank you for the reply. Hopefully Marin gets a shot in ST and runs with it.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) They're wearing no shorts/pants? What better way to draw more ladies to the ball park?
  6. Just want to point out that JR is still the man that signs off on anything White Sox related. Anyone that knows Sox Baseball knows what I'm referring to. This thread is becoming the stuff that dreams are made and needs to be brought back to reality.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) just gots to be different You sir are a rebel!
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) excellent point. if the sox wanted to help themselves... Q to an NL team .... that team might cough up prospects. well the sox FO has a game plan. i just hope they can do it right in the off season. I don't know man, LDF you know my feelings on the idea of trading Q.
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 10:16 PM) excellent point. i forgot about the money saved from Tulo Another financial possibility is if CO found a taker for Jose Reyes, although CO would have to send money with Reyes in a trade but it would still free up some money. He's not happy in CO, that's for sure. Reyes-"You come from a ballclub that was competing for a spot in the playoffs. And you come to a club in last place. You think about that," Reyes said of the trade that ripped him out of Toronto. "I'm at the point in my career that I want to win," Reyes said. "I say it over and over. I want to win. I don't want to spend the rest of my career on a last-place team. That's not the kind of player I feel like I am." "We'll see what happens here," he said. "But in the next couple years, I don't want to waste my time like that." http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-154920673.html Problem is with his salary and recent quotes, CO will have a hard sell on him. Maybe the Yanks would take a chance? There's potential for the Rockies to free up more money if they can get creative. I just cannot see why CO would trade Arenado since he's young enough to build a future team around.
  10. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) As a heads up, I am in Charlotte covering the Knights tonight. Check out the FutureSox twitter machine for observations and games notes Lucky you! I'm not on twitter so forgive me if you've covered this but any idea if Marin's velocity has increased since his move to the pen? Marin looks like a realistic option for the Sox pen in 2016.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) Arenado has Boras as his agent, which means an extension is incredibly unlikely. Given their current situation, the Rockies should definitely consider moving him. They'll obviously get a haul for him, although it's possible they could get more by waiting another year to see if he takes that next step. Regardless, I don't see why they would want Quintana as the central piece of their return. Maybe if he's spun off as part of a three way, but the Rockies will want a plethora of prospects, as hitting on a couple could move up their contention window. Boras for an agent is a good point but if Arenado and CO decided they wanted to work on an extension, Boras would have no choice since he works for Arenado. A few other things to consider are 1) Tulo's contract is off the books and 2) the Rockies are suspected/expected to trade CarGo in the off season which opens up alot of money for CO. Enough money to buy a few FA pitchers this winter and speed up their contention window while holding onto Arenado and their prospects as well. Don't get your hopes up Sox fans.
  12. Delmonico, Coats and Viciedo with HR's. Winston cancelled due to rain according to MiLB.
  13. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) There's no chance they would do that deal. Seriously. I would be fuming if I was a Rockies fan and they made that trade.
  14. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) I'm sick of watching the White Sox playing circus clown defense. Micah Johnson's not an elite hitter whose bat would compensate for his defensive incompetence. He's also had a problem staying healthy. With the poor production by the current DH and Micah having issues staying healthy, DH could be a good spot for Micah. I believe he has a ML bat but his fielding is what's holding him back. Nothing wrong with some speed out of the DH position. Problem is that the Sox would have to eat some money and trade LaRoche or suck it up and turn LaRoche into a bench bat. Neither of which sound like something the Sox would do unfortunately. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 06:24 PM) I'd like to see the Sox get a competent third baseman with a good bat and play Saladino at ss and keep Sanchez at 2B. This is what I'm hoping for as well. Preferably a left handed swinging 3B.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 06:28 PM) ok, i really didn't want to mention this, but Col does not have a 3b to replace him. even in their up and coming prospects. so why would Col trade their excellent offensive 3b???? Arenado is the Rockies next Tulo so to speak and really don't see why they would trade him. I know CO is rebuilding and in need of pitching but they could easily do an extension with Arenado and keep him in CO for years beyond their speculated rebuild window. There's nothing wrong with hope but I just cannot see it happening and I'm rather outside the box in my thinking. Maybe I'm wrong. Call me close minded on the subject of Q but I find it difficult to believe the Sox would trade him. His numbers are very close to that of Lester for a whole lot less money. Q- http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts Lester- http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts I wonder what Q's numbers would look like if he faced the pitcher three times per game? All that said. I do realize the Sox will not fill all the positional holes via FA and no, I do not have an alternative solution to trading pitching for hitting.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) yes, it's sort of a standard "pavilion" structure with a big lawn in the back, similar to the Hollywood Casino Music Theater south of Chicago (My word that's what it's called now?). Probably fits 25000 or so. 25k is a nice size venue and imo, always better to catch bands outdoors when the weather is warmer. Well, as long as the sound system is good and the beer garden is close by. Yeah, that place in Tinley Park has changed names a few times. Last time I was there it was The World Music Theatre but that was 2000 when I went to see Megadeth and The World's sound system was absolutely horrible! Haven't been there since but I'm not far away from Sears Centre so I try and catch bands there when I can. I really miss Poplar Creek since it was outdoors and close by but that's been gone for over 20 years so there's really no outdoor venues close to me any more which kinda sucks.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) God the Apple photos app is so much worse than iPhoto. That was f***ing annoying. Anywho. Couple of them got retweeted last night by the local radio station host while I was waiting in traffic to get out. They were nice enough to play a full hour of Foo Fighters while we were leaving. Well done with the photos Balta, even the sammich looked good. Was that an outdoor venue? QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) Glad someone caught this. Here's Dave Grohl playing the guitar using his cast. I was just playing the video and my wife looked at me funny when she heard the guitar. I just told it was Dave Grohl playing with the cast on his leg and she busted out laughing. She's a big fan too. Again man, thanks for sharing.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 10:01 AM) <!--quoteo(post=3226515:date=Aug 24, 2015 -> 06:51 PM:name=BlackSox13)-->QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) <!--quotec-->Balta. Please take some pics and post em. Wish I was catching them on the 29th at Wrigley. I'll have to be sure and catch them next time around. Working on pictures but youtube was easier. Here's the one I knew was coming so this got recorded. Thanks for posting Balta. FF covered David Bowie very well. Looking forward to seeing the pics when you post them. Hope you had a great time although it's probably safe to say you did.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 07:29 PM) I want nothing to do with K. Seager and that contract Agreed. For those interested, here's what Seager's contract looks like. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) you made an excellent point. the money of a panda ..... forget about it. This is the money Panda is making right now. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts I cringe at the thought of the asking prices of Upton and Heyward this winter.
  21. Even with a protected pick I would steer clear of Upton and Heyward. Those are by far the best FA hitters so there will be plenty of teams interested which could very well turn into bidding wars. I know the SOX need hitting but it would take some financial creativity to land one of those bats. For some reason I'm doubtful the Sox spend the kind of money Upton and Heyward will get. Not trying to s*** on the idea, just not getting my hopes up.
  22. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) if he has no or little power, then put him in the outfield. Not sure if he's athletic enough for the OF. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying his power will not develop, just that he doesn't have it at this point. The errors concern me most with him having 13 in only 47 games at Birmingham. Not writing him off, just not counting on him until he shows some power and fielding improvements. Still a fun player to follow though.
  23. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:25 PM) 3 doubles..... i bet that is a first. 3 hits and all doubles. nice. I know Delmonico is only 23 but he kind of reminds me of Gillaspie. High number of errors, lots of doubles and little HR power. I do like that Delmonico draws walks though.
  24. Delmonico 3-4 with 3 doubles
  25. Leave it to the Sox offense to make a struggling pitcher look good. Oh well, not like any Sox fans should be surprised.
