Absolutely not, for reasons already stated in this thread and one of the other Samardzija threads. Spending 20M per year on one pitcher when the team needs hitters is just a bad idea.

Kanny forced a short outing for the #2 pick last year in Tyler Kolek. 2IP 3H 4ER 5BB 2K.

Imo, Rodon's biggest issues are control and command. AAA is not going to teach him that. He's shown the ability to get ML hitters out so its a matter of Rodon adjusting and refining. He can be quite frustrating to watch but he's only 22 years old so bumps in the road are bound to happen.

Same goes for the packages that might have been offered. Without knowing, all we as fans can do is speculate or just move on from in hopes the Sox made the right call.

Without knowing what the offers for Samardzija were, its tough for me to criticize the FO. Maybe the bids were under, who knows. I'm fine with the comp pick in next year's draft and trust the SOX to grab a nice prospect. Fwiw, Spencer Adams was drafted #44 and Kolek #2. Adams has better numbers so far and they square off today for the third time this season in A- . Just goes to show there will be talent available when the Sox comp pick comes up, they just need to grab the right player. I'm very happy the Sox did not trade top minor league talent for a rental. The SOX have remained committed to building the farm and I have to give them credit for that.

Oh come on! I just checked in to see the score and the Yanks are about to score, again? Guess it was a good night for music and drinks after all. My heart goes out to Sox fans watching this game.

Let's keep in mind that Rodon has been pushed into the rotation a full year ahead of the path Sale took and if I remember correctly, Sale had better control and command. Growing pains... I can only hope that the Sox do not pull the same s*** with Fulmer. MLB teams have minor leagues for a reason.
