QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) Jays still looking at pitching. I presume it would be blasphemy to cut a deal with them for Shark (would be a proverbial waving of the White flag) but, alas, they still have the package to do it. Houston and Dodgers have the ammo as well. Do the Jays have anything left in the farm? Maybe they would trade Pompei? Not the bat fans might be expecting but a bat that can help with future teams. Houston and the Dodgers definitely have the ammo. Even after the haul Houston gave up to Milwaukee.

About 55 minutes to go, Rick and Kenny. Buehler, Buehler, Buehler...

7/31 White Sox vs Yankees 7:10 PM CT

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) I can still name the starting line up like it was still 83. That's pretty damn good, I think I would struggle. Do you remember disco demolition night as a kid? -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Its why I think Revere would have been a real nice fit. No idea how they'd play but one of him or Eaton in RF'er would give us tons of range. I presume it would be Revere in RF as I think he has a better arm then Spanky. Normally I think the Sox would have gone after a bat like Revere's but with the lack of power they seem bent on finding a power bat. I would take Revere despite the lack of power since he would upgrade the defense but the Sox have other ideas. Hope those ideas are good ones.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) Revere's upside is more in his defense, but he is a solid offensive player as well. Definitely. Revere's speed should help the top of the order too.
-
Good grief, the leagues best offense just added Tulo and Revere over the last few days. Look out Yankees!
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) Now the twins have made a move and sox are sitting with their thumbs up their... Ass! The answer is Ass! Do I get a gold star?

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:01 PM) Swap Hou for SD I fudged up Gotcha. I was a tad confused.lol.
-
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) I could see a 3 team trade between Chi/Hou/NYY involving the Sox getting Upton, the Yanks getting Shark and Kimbrel and sending 1 good spec to each team with the Sox throwing SD some 10-20 rangers Or maybe a situation where we send them Avi and some 2-5 ranged guys and land Wil Meyers, while the Yankees end up with Kimbrel and Shark. Wait, what? You mean four way trade?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) For me, I was 10 when the 1983 team happened, that is the team that hooked me for life. Same here except I was 11. Winning Ugly!!! -
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) He missed like 40 something with some hamstring injury i think Oh damn, I forgot about that.
-
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:48 PM) Why has Puig only played in 55 games this year? Extremely crowded Dodger outfield would be my guess.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) Yeah, but they are already 6 games up and have an unbelievable bullpen. Toronto isn't catching them. I'll just agree to disagree. I do not want to derail this thread any further. I'm open to trading Samardzija but the trade should make sense in both the short and long terms.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) Are they hurting for pitching, no, but what they want is another front line guy go to with Clayton / Greinke, yes. At least that is what everyone out in Dodger nation keeps saying. Clearly they have been patient and are unwilling to give up Seager / Urias for what has been moved. Let's offer Samardzija + for Alex Wood.
-
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:59 AM) This. +1 +2 Well done Chisoxfn!
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Doubt the Jays catch the Yanks. Their pitching still blows. MB is their #2....even after acquiring Price. Lol, the Yanks pitching isn't really any better. CC Sabathia comes to mind.
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) It's fun for sure, but trying to think big picture is what I think is best. White Sox mgt though is probably just looking to add at this point. I still think they can add by trading Samardzija but I admit that's just an opinion and have no idea if the Sox have any offers for Samardzija that include a bat.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Where were you guys before last night's game? Sitting next to my wife enjoying a beer. How about you?
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) Still a 85% chance the White Sox do not make the playoffs; still have a tough schedule ahead of them, and they need to play at a high clip. I don't know if this team can keep playing at such a high level. Same here. I've enjoyed their latest run but with the Sox schedule and the teams standing between them and the second WC, I just don't see it. If the Sox add a bat, best but if they trade Samardzija I won't be surprised or pissed about it.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) And ravaged their farm system to do so, all for a chance at a 1 game playoff. In a couple years, the Jays will regret these move, I guarantee it. Not just a one game playoff but a chance at the division rival. Yes the Jays are six games back but while the Jays added Price/Tulo the Yanks lost lost Pineda. Anyway, back to Samardzija. I would not be surprised if the Sox decide to sell in the next few hours. Not gut the team but trade Samardzija.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) If somebody rivals the package that Detroit got for Price, then yes, trade him, but I don't think anybody is going to offer that much. Nobody is going to offer that much because Samardzija is not worth that much, period. To expect the same package for Samardzija is lunacy. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) And the issue is the teams are making moves to get better. Sox have been sitting on the sideline going are we in or are we out Exactly. The Sox sit on ass while the Jays went out and got one of the best hitters and pitchers in the game.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 1m1 minute ago New York, USA no surprise, teams have checked back in on samardzija. chisox 3 1/2 out. still not that likely to deal him. I'm starting to wonder if maybe the Sox should deal Samardzija. The Sox have some tough teams between them and the second wild card.
-
EJ sucks but is good enough to get a rental like Upton?
-
Currently, the Sox have five teams ahead of them for the last WC spot and are tied with Detroit who is selling. The Sox have no business trading for a rental. I have no problem trading quality prospects but the return should be a player(s) that can help the Sox beyond this season.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:29 AM) the sox dh is 0 fer now. O fer the season! Maybe some kind of three way deal between Pitt, Milw and the Sox can be made?
