Was not sure where to ask this question but any info on Swanson and the Diamondbacks? Today is the deadline IIRC.

Nice to see Zangari with a few hits and Cody Daily is just murdering the AZL.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 08:00 AM) http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/mlb-non...id=485919811822 Scroll down to the White Sox Aside from what I have all said in this thread, that's another reason to trade Samardzija. The Sox desperately need hitters throughout the organization and trading Samardzija can help with that.

Keep Stone and put Farmer in the booth with him. I really enjoyed listening to them on the radio when they were together. I'm fine with DJ but have no idea who to pair him up with. Call me crazy but I would like to see Pierzynski get into broadcasting for the Sox when his career is over.

Frankie Montas to join Sox for Double Header Friday
BlackSox13 replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Maybe the Sox called up Montas for a quick look before they move him to Charlotte to take EJ's place when EJ gets called up to the Sox? Kind of similar to what the cubs did with Schwarber. At least this gives Sox fans something to mull over until Friday. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) So is Montas being called up as a free audition to replace Samardjiza soon? #conspiracy I'm not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens!!! Seriously though. This is intriguing seeing as how the Sox have options in AAA. I'm kind of wondering if the Sox might have a trade in the works involving one of their relievers and want to see what Montas can do with Coop? Edit to add: Possible Bonafacio DFA? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 08:48 AM) If Cueto moves, then you will get all of the teams that didn't get him have to panic. Exactly. From a Sox FO perspective, with Cueto gone teams will have no choice but to offer more than the value of a 2016 comp pick which puts the Sox in a win win situation. If the Sox don't like any offers then they simply keep Samardzija in hopes of making a second half push and still get a comp pick or have first dibs on signing Samardzija ( not a fan of the idea). The Sox have all the leverage as it is and if Cueto goes first, oh my!

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) Sounds like Sale pitching Sunday could still be the plan. After reading the article it sounds like Sale has no animosity at all about not pitching the ASG. "I don't make calls like that," he said of whether he will start Sunday. "[but] absolutely, any time you get an in-division rival, those are the games you need, those are the games you want. Like I said before, I'm here to pitch, whatever they've got for me, I'm game for it." http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/136...ll-star-victory If Sale goes Sunday I really hope the Sox get creative and skip Danks and go with Samardzija, EJ, Q, Sale for the Sox/Royals series. I had posted this in the ASG thread but really should have been posted here.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 08:06 AM) in my opinion, you make a great point. but this does pose as a problem/ before this, TOR needed a sp and a rp to make the run. now, if they still want to be in the mix. they will need 2- starting pitchers and a rp. that is too much to ask for and the price would be too much to pay. I think Toronto stands down from trading for starting pitching and rolls the dice with calling up Norris to help. Toronto could still trade for a bullpen arm which would not cost nearly as much. Imo, Toronto is doing the right thing in keeping Norris and Stroman. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) in some way, the reason that is being spoken by hou and those others, Cueto is readily available for a team who is looking for the serious playoff run. now chi part in this is, if and i mean if chi is out of the race or if the org wants to start trading assets, then Shark can instantly be thrust into the mix. but lack of that knowledge, teams only have Cueto to compete for. Yep, the tigers do not sound as though they want to trade Price so it comes down to Cueto and possibly Samardzija. If Cueto goes first it could make the few remaining teams looking for SP even more desperate for Samardzija and drive his price up a tad.

Houston reportedly interested in Cueto to go along with their interest in Samardzija. Could be good for the Sox if they decide to trade Samardzija because Cueto likely costs more in a trade. Fwiw, Samardzija earns 200k less this year than Cueto so the salaries are pretty much a wash. "As the Reds prepare to market staff ace Johnny Cueto, the three teams with the most earnest interest are the Astros, Blue Jays, and Royals, Nightengale adds on Twitter. Cueto’s cheap contract looks to be a significant factor in that interest, given that all three of those clubs currently operate at a lower payroll capacity (Houston, Kansas City) or reportedly lack financial flexibility at the deadline (Toronto)." Mlbtr, Astros rumors. I'm doubt seriously the Royals would trade for Samardzija so they could give Houston some competition for Cueto although Houston has more to offer. This is going to be very interesting.

Sounds like Toronto could be out of the mix if what's said is true. "The Blue Jays are “regularly being asked for Marcus Stroman” as a return in trades for pitching, reports Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Despite the fact that Stroman won’t contribute to the team in 2015 after tearing his ACL this spring, the Blue Jays won’t be trading him, Davidi writes. Looking at the trade history of GM Alex Anthopoulos, Davidi notes that it’s probably more likely to see the Blue Jays acquire someone with some team control remaining. " Per mlbtr. Fine with me as I'm not impressed with anything Toronto has outside of Stroman and Norris.

Sale pitching in AS Game in Emergency situation ONLY
BlackSox13 replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Since the question was asked. I'm not in the least bit disappointed. I am however glad that by not pitching tonight Sale will most likely pitch against the division rival/leading Royals during that four game series this weekend. And yes, I will sleep very well tonight! -
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:58 PM) Yep. I thought it was a horrible trade idea. I saw it and felt the need to share with Yall. Good 'ol Bleacher Report. Hey man, thanks for sharing. We all get to have a laugh about it and especially since Pentacost was already mentioned in this thread a week or two ago.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2521642...culation/page/3 Bleacher Report keeps predicting a Toronto deal that would bring over C Max Pentecost and 3B Andy Burns I know you're just passing along what you found but I think I take that with a big grain of salt. A Catcher that has not played yet this year due to having a second surgery on his throwing shoulder since being drafted last year and a 24 year old 3B that hits as lite as Gillaspie for Samardzija? Yep, sounds like an article written by the bleacher report.

Sale pitching in AS Game in Emergency situation ONLY
BlackSox13 replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm actually ok with the possibility of Sale not pitching tonight. I can understand where Ventura is coming from since Sale has thrown alot of pitches since May 6th. The future of the team and Sale's health is more important in the big picture. -
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) Agreed. Does 7-3 make them buyers? That's a good question. With the offense needing so many upgrades I doubt the Sox have the farm to pull it off. But I admit I'm just a fan so who knows?

Thread from 2015: White Sox sign Carson Fulmer
BlackSox13 replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 06:27 AM) Not at the expense for learning. Look at it this way. The sox may have one less year of control but they get one more year of an effective pitcher in the mlb. This is why MLB teams have minors league affiliates. To help players learn, make adjustments and allow players to progress at their own pace while under the watchful eye of the major league teams FO. Jumping from college ball to the majors is a huge hurdle. Fulmer will not be a starter for the Sox this season due to his inning totals so far this year and he is not needed in the pen. Another thing to keep in mind is Fulmer's season started in mid February which means he likely started throwing around the first of the year to prepare for his last season in college. It's already been a long season for the young man so it would be best to see how he fairs against tougher competition in the minors while monitoring his innings. Fulmer's progression should be determined by Fulmer's performance and not by others that came before him or overly eager fans and FO that do not want to wait. Patience. -
The Sox have the 20th off which could help alot. After the DH on the 17th DFA Boni and make Danks the long man in the pen. If the Sox really want to make a second half run then do what's best for the team and get Danks out of the rotation. 17th- Samardzija/ EJ for DH 18th- Q 19th- Sale 20th- off 21st- Rodon 22nd- Samardzija 23rd- Johnson 24th- Q 25th- Sale 26th- Rodon

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) Phillips was crazy and I loved him. I think he went into the stands once cause he was pissed off IIRC. I think while with the Sox. Fun ball player to watch on the field. I remember that! http://www.nytimes.com/1996/05/17/sports/b...fronts-fan.html Love Tony Phillips!
