  1. Fick yeah! Keep the pressure on! Great start for the offense and with Sale on the mound today I feel that much better. Do not let up, crash the hopes of cub fans everywhere!
  2. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) We can't deny that Alcantara and Castro for Sale is an amazing offer. I can only assume that offer is for both Sale and Q? Starting to think the start could be delayed for a bit. http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/chicago-i...er-radar/348308
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) Both Masterson and Kelly have been brutal. Masterson with injuries and Kelly being sent to the minors because he sucks. Right up the cubs alley since the cubs are in the NL and wouldn't have to give up much. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) the Red Sox, however, are more in the race than the White Sox are. They can win that iffy division....Sox have no chance to win its division. I'd think Red Sox would be marginal buyers. And they need pitching, contenders or not. Now that the Yankees have Nova and Tanaka back I think they walk away with the division. Boston does not have the pitching to contend. Anyway, back to Samardzija. I'm hoping the Astros come calling since they are in a tight race with the Angels and are looking for pitching.
  4. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) Believe Cubs are scouting Boston/New York series this weekend. My guess is they are looking at Boston and probably Buchholz-Masterson-Kelly i.e good bad-worse Good call man. I think Masterson and Kelly are along the lines of what the cubs are looking for and Buchholz left last night's game with tightness in his elbow which could limit the pitching market even more.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) excellent post. Thank you kindly sir. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 11, 2015 -> 11:45 AM) Yes, that Comp. Pick and the Sox sitting marginally in the wild card hunt give the Sox a good bit of leverage. Those Cubs trade packages don't seem that bad to me for a rent, but you do have to discount the Theo hype factor from all Cubs prospects, so I am not sure. The packages aren't bad, its just that the Sox outfield is full up and they have outfielders in the minors and the same for pitching so imo there's no trade to be made without Schwarber's name involved. McKinney is a nice looking prospect but reminds me offensively of Ryan Sweeney without the defense. Almora has the defense and arm but again, the Sox have plenty of outfielders. Schwarber for Samardzija is not a fair trade from the cubs perspective and I don't blame them. The cubs would have to devalue Schwarber by including Castro to try and balance any trade with the Sox. I cannot see the SOX having interest in Castro unless they think he could convert to 2B and hope his bat comes back around, which it could seeing as how he's only 25. A scenario along these lines is what I meant by insanely creative. In the end it would be best for the cubs to trade their OF P prospects to a team that needs them and it would be best for the Sox to trade Samardzija to a team that has infielders to offer. There's just no match between the Sox and cubs without that insanely creative bit. Makes for some interesting conversations though.
  6. Time for Sale to show the other fans what a real ace looks like. Can't wait until Monday when cub fans begin talking even more about how they should trade for Sale or Q. Us Sox fans should have many laughs at the expense of typical dumb cub fans, as usual. GO WHITE SOX!!!
  7. There's no match between the Sox and cubs without getting insanely creative. Imo, the only pitcher the SOX will possibly move is Samardzija but the cubs are not willing to part with Schwarber which ends the conversation right there. The cubs have some OF and pitching prospects but the Sox have those as well so its doubtful the Sox would have interest. The cubs have zero leverage in a trade with the Sox. The cubs options are quite simple... 1- give up quality prospects for one of Samardzija, Price or Cueto. 2- trade for some scraps like what the Marlins are reportedly selling. 3- make no trade and hope for the best the rest of the season. Bruce Levine and his merry band of morons need to remember that it's the Sox that have (Samardzija) what some contenders covet and therefore it's the Sox that have all the leverage, not the other way around.
  8. Danish looking good through 3 Hawkins 1-2 2B
  9. My bad, game two for Charlotte not postponed. Trayce 1-1
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 06:01 PM) I am hoping by the deadline we are at .500 and bring up Johnson to take Danks' spot. Our rotation would be even better Definately. I'm fed up with Danks like everyone else. I'm hoping for Johnson to take Danks spot, Danks takes the long relief role, Boni DFA'd and Saladino stays with the team to get more playing time. Michalczewski 1-2 RBI Game two for Charlotte is postponed
  11. Rodon should hold a bunting clinic for the position players.
  12. Johnson finishes with 4IP 1H 0R 3K Nicely done.
  13. Well done Sox pitching staff! Feel pretty good with Sale pitching tomorrow.
  14. Wait, did the Sox actually MANUFACTURE a run? Carlos puts up three 6's and now this? The end is nigh fellow Sox fans! 1-0 woohoo!
  15. 6IP 6BB 6 K. 6's are wild! Gutsy performance by Rodon considering the blister.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 12:03 PM) I don't know if it shows up this season, but in the past he has a groundball rate you would expect from Juan Pierre. If he could get the ball in the air more, he could probably hit is as far as anybody. IIRC, weren't some Sox players in awe last year watching Avi in BP? Something about how Avi was hitting the ball further than Dunn? I agree with those that say patience with Avi.
  17. Sounds great to me. Happy to see Saladino get a shot.
  18. I'm rather confused by the direction of this team. They win some games bringing hope and then go on a slide so I'm not sure where I stand to be honest. I admit I have a difficult time accepting they can reach the post season so that being said... Assuming a team would trade for LaRoche, opening up the DH would allow Avi to move to DH. I know it would hurt what value he has but as long as Avi remains one of the core players then I'm not overly concerned about value. The Sox could give Thompson a look in RF or move Eaton RF and Thompson plays CF. Either way the OF defense would improve. Problem with that idea is, imo, Thompson's bat could use more time at Charlotte. Thompson has made impressive progress this year and would like to see that continue before giving him a look with the Sox or at least wait til September. Another idea would be Avi to DH with Shuck moving to RF which still improves the defense although not as much as Thompson would. Again, all this based on the Sox not being contenders and me as a fan being rather confused as to the direction of the current team so please take this post with a big grain of salt.
  19. QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) Whoops that's what I meant, my bad sorry about that lol. It's cool. I confused myself by forgetting about the futures game lol. Delmonico 3-4 Micah 1-4 HR BB Thompson 1-3 BB Michalczewski 1-3 RBI
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 08:12 PM) Montas is throwing in the futures game on Sunday Thanks Dunt, I forgot about the futures game.
  21. QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 07:50 PM) All-star game. Not surprising. The all star game for that league happened June 23.
  22. Interesting. Montas pitched the first inning and is done for the night. Fletcher came out to pitch the second.
  23. After the season the Sox have had so far isn't there enough to b**** about already? What's the point of whining about something that went down 4 years ago? Here's the severely back loaded contract Buehrle signed. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts I'm glad the Sox did not try to match that. Another thing is why, after 4 years, is Buehrle bringing this up now?
