  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) Where oh where has Noesi been? Hasn't he been in Charlotte for a few weeks? He's listed on Charlotte's site as temporary inactive. Not sure what that means to be honest. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=t...tching/2015/ALL
  2. So are the matchups? Rodon vs Hendricks Sale vs Lester Q vs Arrieta
  3. Montas now listed as tonight's starter for Birmingham.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 03:26 PM) The other point I keep adding is that his K-rate is way, way down this year. That's another that would make me really hesitant on giving him a long-term deal. Great point Balta, I had forgotten about you mentioning that before. A declining K-rate for a pitcher that pitches roughly half his games at the Cell is not enticing to say the least. Another point I remember you mentioning in the past is how the Sox take on the additional salary with Samardzija's new contract. Trade him for the best package available while the getting is good. Call me crazy but I have no problem with Erik Johnson taking his spot and if need be giving Drabek and or Marin a chance in September to see what they have to offer. I see it this way. Trading Samardzija should help bring back a few young position players and by not signing/extending Samardzija leaves money to help fill holes elsewhere. Even if the Sox stick with Micah at 2B, there are still glaring holes at 3B, SS, and C. IMO, Samardzija's next contract would financially handcuff the team.
  5. Regardless if Samardzija is traded, if he continues to pitch well the rest of the season he will get his 4-5 year contract at around 20M per year. That for a starting pitcher that turns 31 years old before ST 2016. Thanks but no thanks. Just my opinion but I have zero interest in an extension with Samardzija.
  6. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 01:35 PM) Track record. He's played and started or played a lot of games over the past 4-5 years across the MLB. IF --- and this is a big if, if we are trying to win NOW. Like give this one last go round before we wave the white flag for the playoffs this year, then I think it's smart to give him a shot. His D is better than Micah. His bat is better than Sanchez. 192/.240/.230 (45 OPS+) That's our line at 2B this year ... I understand they are "prospects" and the Sox want to give them a shot -- but I say let the guy who gives us the best chance to win today get his shot. And then we are really out of it, back to Micah/Sanchez. If youre going to compare Boni, Sanchez and Johnson then Boni's track record means nothing. It's about what they have done this year and at this point Boni is the odd man out. If the Sox are trying to win now, Boni is not really a factor anyway with the way the starters have under performed to date. 2B is just one of many holes on the roster and Boni will not make a difference either way. Boni was a signing that I was all for but things have not worked out and its time to move on.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) SF has really bad prospects. Both Astros and Yankees have better systems than them. Houston might have the best system in the league. Agreed on all points. SF has 1 position player in their top ten and he's nothing to write home about. Mella and Beede are interesting . As for Crick, his 48BB 46K in 45.1IP screams future reliever. SF is not a good trade partner at all.
  8. Boni batted .130 in ST and is currently batting .151. I fail to see how he should get a shot at 2B.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) With how little Ventura uses him, I would bet on this being the move. I could see them moving to a Beckham/Gillaspie type platoon set up, with Johnson starting most games, and Sanchez finishing them. That's what I'm thinking as well. Paying Boni to stay off the roster is not much different than paying him to stay on the bench.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 08:52 AM) Sure. Anyone else they may be interested in could potentially cost more It would be funny to see the reaction from the cub fans after Samardzija's comments in the off season. Cub fans were pissed!
  11. I wonder if the Nat's could have interest in LaRoche. A catcher like Pedro Severino might be a nice return.
  12. Not so sure about the Astros willingness to trade Santiago since Rasmus will be gone after this season. It's why I have been looking at other players in their system but I could be wrong. Baez could be interesting if he could learn to play 3B for the Sox but can anyone see the cubs having interest in Samardzija?
  13. Jaye with 7 shutout innings and 8K Trey Michalczewski 3-5
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) ya i just posted that article on the previous page Oops, my bad. Looks as though a change is coming. Imo, dump Bonafacio since he likely has no value anyway.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) It really doesn't matter at this point who pitches. Danks has had some good starts as well as pathetic ones. The Sox have a few options in AAA that could be gaining more MLB experience instead of wasting time on Danks in the rotation. There's no future for Danks and his 5.30 ERA. Time to move on and give someone else a shot. Danks is done.
  16. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) I'm guessing day off. He's player like 9 straight days icluding a double header at least from what I can tell. He's batting .341 in the last 10 games Might have something to do with this article? http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/2015/07/08/...second-base-job
  17. Trayce with a HR Anderson 1-2 SB Saladino 1-2 HR Robinson Leyer with 7 shut out innings.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/blue...nthopoulos.html Stroman would be ideal, but I'd love Castro, Pentecost, Hoffman, Pompey, or Norris. Pretty interesting. Stroman is a pitcher I would be all over. With Toronto having Hoffman developing in the minors and Norris knocking on the MLB door they might be be persuaded to deal Stroman. Stroman's repertoire makes him a solid GB/K pitcher which would be great for the Cell. A 2016 rotation of Sale, Q, Stroman and Rodon sounds pretty damn good to me. That leaves Danks at #5 to hold the fort until one of Fulmer, Montas, E.Johnson are ready. If Toronto was willing to deal Stroman I'd guess it would take more than Samardzija. Interesting idea though.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) The Yankees won't trade Judge for a rental. He's going to make that porch in RF his b**** for years to come. Where can the Yankees fit Judge into the lineup? Their OF, 1B and DH is rather crowded for the next few years.
  20. Also. I could see the Yanks parting with Judge since their OF, 1B and DH is crowded and that division race makes them desperate.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) To be fair, Houston's system is deep so if you even grabbed someone in 6-10 range it would probably be a good deal. Just to reinforce your point. Brett Phillips OF 21 years old is currently #6 in Houston's system batting .320 for AA and should be at AAA. Another is AJ Reed 1B 22 years old and #11 in Houston's system batting .333 for A+ and really should be at AA and has big power potential (22 HR this season). Would love to grab both but I have no idea what it would take to get them. Samardzija plus a reliever? I still stand by Toronto not being a good matchup in a trade with the Sox.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 03:29 PM) FWIW, there was absolutely nothing serious about that post. Lol, I guess I missed the green.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) Two words. Mike.Yastrzemski. Imo, the Sox can and will do better than a 24 year OF batting .247 at AA.
  24. Nicely done Spencer Adams. Peralta looking good through 4 innings.
  25. The Orioles said today that they are looking to upgrade the rotation and pen. Don't really see anything interesting in their farm but if they show interest in Samardzija it could add to others teams upping the ante.
