Montas looking good so far through 5 innings. Anyone know anything about Delmonico? Dude is kicking some butt so far. He's 2/3 with his 6th double in his short stint for Birmingham and batting .423. Hawkins is 1/1 with 2 BB.

The writer of that article is obscenely delusional and was clearly written for the sake of writing something. The ideas behind the proposed trade make less than zero sense. Definitely good for a laugh though.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) i can see why your and several other excitement on the Pitt of-prospect, but the need of this club is cat, 3b infielder, in that order per my opinion. pitt has 4 catching prospect in the T30. again basing on the hole the system has, i will ask for a cat to start, Reese McGuire-cat has the most upside. then i would deal with another hole. i think Meadows, while promising, i think Pitt will be hesitant to allow a 2 nd player. But from Pitts point of view they are likely looking to trade from their outfield depth which is rather deep considering they just sent Tabata and his contract to AAA. Reese is a heck of a prospect but he's a catcher at A+ and only 20 years old so he's likely quite a ways off from being MLB ready which does not really help the Sox much. Diaz could step into the majors right now as a good defensive oriented backup with a cannon for an arm and still just 24 years old so there is still a chance he could become an every day catcher in time. If Pitt needs a second player the Sox could offer a reliever in the deal since thats one area the Sox have an excess of. As far as 3B Pitt does not have anything to offer that could help the Sox in the short term. They have Wyatt Mathisen but he doesn't grade out any better than what the Sox have in Delmonico. I actually prefer Delmonico over Mathisen. So as far as trading with Pitt goes its about outfielders and catchers.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 06:28 PM) Austin Meadows and change I like your thinking. Would really like to get Elias Diaz to go with Meadows.

I'd rather the Sox found another team to trade with. Pentecost has had two surgeries on his throwing shoulder since being drafted in 2014 so that's likely why Toronto would be willing to part with him in a trade for Samardzija. No thanks. The market for Samardzija is picking up so Sox just need to remain patient.

According to industry sources, the White Sox agreed to an $825,000 signing bonus with shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., ranked No. 27 on MLB.com's Top 30 International Prospects list, and a $1.5 million bonus with outfielder Franklin Reyes, ranked No. 30. The club did not confirm the agreements. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/134...rnando-tatis-jr

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/616...4610688/video/1 So this guy travels to St.Louis only to get kicked out, kinda dumb. Now if he ran onto the field with beer in hand and had pulled off a Mark Buehrle belly slide on the tarp I could see a point.lol

Carrasco loses no hitter with two outs in the 9th. Hell of a game pitched.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/st-louis-...forecast/349084 Not looking good Sox fans. The radar shows more storms heading in St.Louis' direction.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 05:35 PM) Hey, the Search Engine worked!! Watching Olbermann today, and on his low light segment, he showed de Aza mis-playing a fly ball in a Boston uniform. I had forgotten how bad he was/is. That's one way of looking at it. I felt the same way when I watched the highlights today of Porcello getting clobbered. I looked up his stats/ contract and immediately had a new appreciation for John Danks.

Chris Sale on the cusp of making swing-and-miss history
BlackSox13 replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) I do believe they've shuffled the rotation around and Sale will be going against Baltimore on Sunday. Also tough, but more manageable than Toronto, especially for a lefty. Oh OK. I forgot about the day off Thursday. -

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) No, Sale would be the first to do it if he gets there. That would be awesome but he will have to do it against a tough Blue Jays lineup on Monday. Stay tuned... -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 09:49 AM) It's not black and white. There are reasons for it (velo drop, K loss) that can be fine - the fact that he's young and getting stretched out full-season, and the fact that Bautista is working with Adams on significant changes to his delivery. Then again maybe he lacks the strength to maintain, which is not great but seems workable. I'd call it a concern, but not a reason to jump off a cliff by any means. Very good insight NorthSide. Along with stretching out, the strength and endurance should come in time as he fills out his 6'3 frame. As of now he's listed at 171 lbs so the young man is not finished growing into his body. Another thing about his K rate going down is that Spencer did move up a level from last year so the drop is really not that surprising. What I find impressive is that Spencer has maintained his low BB rate despite facing tougher competition all the while increasing his IP. Pitchers drafted out of HS take time and patience. I think Spencer is having a fine season so far and as a fan I am delighted he's pitching in the Sox organization.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) Well the Tigers, Angels, and Orioles don't have a whole lot of interesting pieces, so I'd count them out. A lot of interesting options from the other teams though. Yeah I think the Yanks, Toronto, STL and the Dodgers make the most sense. Maybe Houston, Rangers and SF too.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) Hopefully he continues to pitch well and with that many teams hopefully a chance for good return Agreed. I find it interesting the Royals, of all teams, are interested. That could be pure speculation too. Hopefully Boston maintains their stance on keeping Buchholz.

Looks like interest in Samardzija is picking up. "The same teams that are pursuing Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz are going after White Sox hurler Jeff Samardzija. That list of teams includes the Royals, Tigers, Twins, Blue Jays, Yankees, Cardinals, Orioles, Angels, and Dodgers, according to Cafardo. Late last week, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported that the Astros are also interested in Samardzija. Meanwhile, at this time, the Red Sox reportedly are not interested in moving Buchholz." http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/06/cafa...eto-hamels.html

white Sox willing to part with Alexei Ramirez
BlackSox13 replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) That's not the point... it's just a random statement out of left field. Isn't credible in anyway... I see what you mean harkness. The Sox "willing to part" with a player that has regressed as badly as Alexei has sounds more like "wanting to part". IMHO of course. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) Of what the Sox asked for, not what they were offered. This right here. iIRC, the Mets were peddling Jon Niese and/or another veteran pitcher ( forget the name) to upgrade SS and make room for Snydergaard. Snydergaard for Alexei was started on this board. -
QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 08:18 AM) The Cardinals also have had 5 of the top 59 picks in the 2012 draft, 3 of the top 57 picks in the 2013 draft, 2 of the top 34 picks in the 2014 draft, and 2 of the top 39 in the 2015 draft. The Sox in that time frame had 2 of the top 48 picks in the 2012 draft (Hawkins and Barnum), 2 of the top 55 in 2013 (Anderson and Danish), 2 of the top 44 in 2014 (Rodon and Adams), and 1 pick in the 1st 3 rounds of the 2015 draft in Fulmer. Since 2012 the Cardinals have had 12 picks in the top 60 of MLB drafts, the Sox have had 7 in that same time frame. That also helps the Cardinals quite a bit, not to mention their scouting and development are good. St. Louis is 106 games over .500 since 2011, the Sox are 56 games under .500 in that time. Good point and reminds me of how the Cards get competitive balance picks and have also received a compensatory pick for Pujols. Nevertheless, they still did a great job collecting talent for the farm.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) Someone else said he automatically becomes a FA at the end of the year if he's traded. You might want to search under "Cot's Baseball Contracts" Good call. Cot's says if Guerrero is traded, he becomes a FA at seasons end. https://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensa...ngeles-dodgers/

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) I would want Hanley's production but not Hanley the human being. On come on raBBit. It's just Hanley being Hanley.

What about Michael Feliz in a trade for Samardzija?
-
Pablo is eating his way into becoming a DH, problem is that his bat does not carry the same weight his body does to be a DH. I could see some interest in Hanley as a DH if Boston ate a Chuck of that salary and the Sox didn't have LaRoche as a DH. Then there's there's the possibility of Avi and Melky being future DH's. Further then, is in order for the Sox to take on what's left of Hanley's salary after Boston pays their portion, Boston would have to take on a higher salary contract from the Sox in order for the Sox to fit Ramirez into their payroll. On yeah, the White Sox aren't contenders either so I'd doubt there would be interest in the first place. Just my opinion is all.
